We continue our series of members’ articles, which review the numbers behind the 2015/16 season, with a look at Southampton.

To get underway, we assess the Saints’ team statistics in Ronald Koeman’s final year in charge and compare them to the rest of Premier League, before analysing their first-team squad, main goal threats and creative sources in an attempt to gain insight on their prospects for the upcoming campaign.

The Saints finished in sixth position after embarking on a superb run of form that harvested seven wins and a draw in the final nine league fixtures.

      Hazard is always going to be top dog, he's one of the best penalty shooters in the world. Fabregas is a great option regardless, though, especially at 7.5M.

      Midfielders have been priced a bit tough. Gk + defenders cheap and forwards standard.

        Jakup will be re-upgraded to Heaton whenever any new developments occur on the transfer scene 🙂

        Not convinced by Hojbjerg, he's a good player but doubt he'll return much. However, I'd need another million to get anyone decent.. Fishcer / Snodgrass / etc are all 5.5m..

        I love Koné and Pieters at 4.5 🙂

      Like the approach with defence. Naylor might be displaced by the 4.0 Kingsley (or something that sounds similar, can't remember name) so look out for that. Would rather Berahino(stoke) or Long over the Bou double up but really like the structure here.

    Are people being turned off by tough Liverpool/Spurs opening fixtures? Eriksen/Firmino look enticing but fixtures are a worry. What do you all think?

      I think Liverpool show their best against top sides, it's the potential 0-0s vs Hull and such which are more concerning..

        Yep agreed. They had a good record against the top sides last season including two wins against City & one of the only teams to beat Leicester.

      When you sign in and start picking your team it should give you the team name option etc. Leagues is exactly the same - under the leagues tab.
