We continue our series of members’ articles, which review the numbers behind the 2015/16 season, with a look at Southampton.

To get underway, we assess the Saints’ team statistics in Ronald Koeman’s final year in charge and compare them to the rest of Premier League, before analysing their first-team squad, main goal threats and creative sources in an attempt to gain insight on their prospects for the upcoming campaign.

The Saints finished in sixth position after embarking on a superb run of form that harvested seven wins and a draw in the final nine league fixtures.

I love him but feel he may be getting phased out this season. Potential players to play in front of defence currently are Xhaka, Coq, Elneny, Wilshere, Ramsey, Cazorla. And that's for two positions, I don't think Santi has the legs to play in the forward three behind the striker anymore

      1. Pariße
        • 10 Years

        Probable line-up:

        Sanchez-Ozil-Ramsey
        Xhaka-Cazorla

          • 10 Years

You could be right there but I also wouldn't be surprised to see Elneny instead of Cazorla or even Wilshere if he stays fit.

I think Xhaka goes out before Cazorla, but nevermind, it all depends on how Cazorla performs after coming back from the injury, I still think he's our 5th best player at least.

The only way he'll get any points is if he's on penalties and set pieces.

The Bournemouth mids are so hard to pick from. I think Ibe has got the talent but not experience.
Gradel was injured a lot of last season but is a quality player at that price.
King was an OOP godsend last season and probably has the most PL minutes of them all.
Stanislas was also a pretty golden 5th mid pick for a while.

Payet essential imo but not in the first few games. With Sanchez, Giroud and Ramsey not fit don't see Arsenal scoring at all. Mahrez is off Pens so his appeal is diminished and they have to contend with Champions League as well. One of Mkhi/Martial for me.

SSN HQ reporter Paul Gilmour has spoken via FaceTime to Pogba's agent Mino Raiola, who wanted to prove he is not in Manchester for transfer talks, as reported by national newspapers this morning. He is in Empoli in Italy, and says Pogba will remain on holiday until August 6.

Raiola also said Juve want to renew Pogba's contract, and refused to address speculation linking Man Utd with a bid for his player. He also refused to say whether Pogba had agreed personal terms with United, as previously reported by Italian papers.

    1. Frank Black
      • 12 Years
      9 years, 5 months ago

He also said that he was bringing Balotelli to Besiktas and, after Besiktas denied, he lied and said that an "impostor" pretended to be him, although in Italy it been proved that there was no impostor. Raiola is a notorious clown, a buffoon.
