We continue our series of members’ articles, which review the numbers behind the 2015/16 season, with a look at Stoke City.

To get up and running, we delve into the Potters’ data and compare them to the rest of the Premier League, before assessing their first-team squad, main goal threats and creative sources as we look for some pointers ahead of the upcoming 2016/17 campaign.

Despite finding the net on 41 occasions, Mark Hughes’ side still finished in ninth position for the second successive season. Although they mustered just three points less than 2014/15 – picking up 51 points – it’s fair to say that the Potters’ threat in the final third took a turn for the worse in a season that saw just nine of their players find the net.

    Loftus Cheek @5.5M is a bargain. Conte seems to love him and Conte doesn't mind having big names on the bench. 0.1% ownership makes him difficult to resist. He will be my big risk.

    Foster Mannone (Rotates well with favorable fixtures)
    Shaw Azpi Souare Friend Paredes
    Mikki Townsend Fab Eriksen Ibe
    Kun Costa/Lukaku Long.

    Really want Firmino in there but better fixtures for Eriksen, No Arsenal cover is the only worry atm.

    Team with Aguero + Ibra can be decent.

    5.5, 4.0
    5.5, 4.5, 4.5, 4.5, 4.0
    7.5, 7.5, 8.5, 8.5, 4.5
    13, 11.5, 6.5

    That gives 2 premium players in defense (or change for two 4.5 GK to upgrade one of def to 5.0) + very nice mid (can change one for Townsend and use that money in def) + beauty attack with nice 3rd striker.

      A playing 4.0 defender would allow the following:

      4.5 (4.5)
      5.5 5.0 4.5 (4.5 4.0)
      9.5 8.5 7.5 6.5 (4.5)
      13 11.5 6.5

      Would allow an easy mid downgrade and striker upgrade if required too.

      Sturridge injury prone and hard fixtures comming up. I would rather have Ali then Eriksen, Bolasie then Townsend. Stones is a joke. De Gea is the only deffinetly nailed on United back.

      I think that long might start the season on the bench... End of season form accounted, he didn't have a good euro and if either of Austin/j-rod gain form over preseason, they have a better skillset than long

          Tadic is the only guaranteed fpl asset you might claim
          If puel goes 4-3-1-2 as in friendly (highly unlikely imo)
          Then maybe jwp/højbjerg can be considered.
          I expect then to stay 4-2-3-1 though, with tadic on left, redmond on right and jwp/Davis/højbjerg or even jhrod/long in middle

      Hit the first 3 gameweeks hard then wildcard team;

      Substitutes: Foster Watson Baines Kone

      * Heaton and Foster rotate
      * Use Wasilewski for gw1 then swap to Baines after he plays Spurs gw1
      * Souare and Kone rotate, with Baines/Shaw sticking gw's 2 and 3
      * The whole front 7 dominate the top 5 spots of the attack setting on the ticker
