We continue our series of members’ articles, which review the numbers behind the 2015/16 season, with a look at Swansea City’s progress under new manager Francesco Guidolin.

First off, we check the Swans’ team statistics from the point of the Italian’s appointment in Gameweek 23 and compare them to the previous numbers under former boss Garry Monk as well as the rest of Premier League. We’ll also analyse their first-team squad, main goal threats and creative sources in an attempt to gain insight on their prospects for the upcoming campaign.

The Welsh club were quick off the mark last time out, drawing against Chelsea and beating Man United in the opening four rounds of fixtures. That early-season form was short-lived, though, and, by the time of Monk’s departure, they sat just a single point ahead of the drop zone after winning one of his final 11 league encounters at the helm.

Guidolin’s impact was immediate. Starting with a 2-1 triumph at Everton on his debut, he steered the club to seven wins in the final 16 matches, compared to five victories in 22 beforehand, in a run that ultimately saw them finish 12 points clear of the bottom three.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

rumours of chambers going on loan to watford, if this happens will he be a good option for a 4.5 defender?

Anyone found (or at least he thinks he did) this season's Mahrez - a 5.5m midfielder with a lot of goals/assists in him?
I remembered last year some people ''predicted'' Mahrez here.

I'd probably say Gradel is the most likely out of the 5.5'ers.

But I think Bolasie turned a corner in terms of end product towards the end of last season and has fantastic fixtures so he'd be one to watch.

There will never be another Mahrez. JWP and Snodgrass will score over 100 points imo but we will struggle to see and mid score over 200 points

      • 14 Years

I posted stats on deadline day showing how Mahrez's shots on target were Mane-level, but I doubt anyone ever predicted him to explode to that extent.

There don't seem to be any 5.5m mids at that level or capable tbh...

Well I had Ozil and Mahrez from the start last year

Quite a few inside the box too.

We all know that Walcott is an FPL titan, it's only his gametime that's the problem. A big problem.

      Should I sign King?

He has a tiny sample, got to bear that in mind.

But if you think he'll be a regular starter, he might be a decent 5th mid.
I doubt it though, and not many want to spend 5.0m on a 5th mid.

Change the global filter to all season and he'll shoot down the table.

Just making pizza bases. It is great to be off work for a regular weekend like a normal person!

Yes it does. Nothing worse than starting work on a Friday night knowing other people are going out

You must be on holidays Cheese ? I'm just getting used to TV on Wed, Thur, Fri nights after changing to the front end for the back of the year.

More goals would make him more appealing. Under Koeman I'm hoping for the rebirth of Famous Seamus. Will make them more solid though anyone could better last season. Had his best attacking season when he kept the most cleansheets in 13/14 and had a decent Euros. Might get both, for Fuchs sake 😉
