Nathan Redmond has usurped team-mate Dusan Tadic as part of this morning’s Watchlist refresh.

With the dust settled from the opening day’s action, we’ve dipped back into the rankings for our daily re-assessment and promoted the former Norwich winger up the midfield standings.

Priced at just 6.0 and deployed as part of a front two by manager Claude Puel, Redmond appears to be our first priority in the mid-price.

The drop for Tadic is harsh. He was outstanding in the 1-1 draw with Watford and produced some performance statistics that suggest he will be a major Fantasy force over the campaign. We will keep monitoring his displays.

But Redmond got his goal and his own numbers were equally impressive: his potential and value is just too strong.

With Puel talking him up at every opportunity, it would be remiss to overlook his appeal at the expense of Tadic and also striker Shane Long.

Southampton’s fixtures will certainly test Redmond’s output.

Puel’s side must now face trips to Manchester United, Arsenal and Leicester. But St Mary’s meetings with Sunderland and Swansea appear to provide the platform for the former Canary to go on producing.

He stacks up behind a cast of heavy-hitting midfielders but may well surpass some of that pack once the Gameweek 1 fixtures are complete.

Today we will be monitoring the performances of Roberto Firmino and Alexis Sanchez in particular.

Further down our list we saw Ross Barkley make positive strides having notched on the opening day once again.

Middlesbrough’s Gaston Ramirez also consolidated his position as our midfield weapon of choice in Aitor Karanka’s ranks.

We’re also showing patience with Andros Townsend. He demonstrated enough to suggest he’ll be a key goal threat for Crystal Palace and his mid-term fixtures remain favourabe. He holds his position as another mid-price consideration.

Further down, Erik Lamela sneaks in to our reckoning. We will be debating his rank further this week, with Dele Alli already coming under pressure as the key target in Tottenham’s midfield ahead of their encouraging schedule.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Morning folks.

Thoughts on the refreshed rankings and also this new approach and article appreciated. I've always wanted the Watchlist to be more dynamic and for us to re-assess it throughout the week. We will look at the other positions in more detail later in the week, although I have gone in to those this morning in terms of the rankings.

We will be getting the rank movement arrows back soon - just letting ourselves recover from what has been a very busy spell preparing for the season. In the end, we just ran out of time to roll out the enhancements to the site - which include the full desktop view on mobile - but now we can put them back on our agenda and get them from test to live.

I like it. Still think Tadic is ahead in my opinion. Although I do have Redmond for now.

Good stuff. Getting used to this mobile one anyway. The only thing I don't like, and this was changed ages ago, is that the season ticker isn't on the side of the main screen.

I like it. All of the articles are focused on who we should buy (or sell) whether it's the Scout notes talking of form or the Fixture Frisking talking of fixtures. Essentially, they're all an update on the Scoutlist.

I like the player analysis, but it seems a touch knee-jerky to be shifting the watch list around before all matches from the game week have been played.

I'd agree with this. The GW1 factor makes it inevitable that it'll be a tad knee-jerky.

But it's nice to hear discussion as the GW is ongoing. An improvement. 🙂

I quite like it but it shouldn't be at the expense of the typical Sunday morning scout notes article covering all the games. Feel it would work better after all the weekend games.

Good to hear the desktop view is coming.

I agree with this. The Scout Notes article is very important for me especially for matches that I don't know how they went. Sheds light players who did well, those who didn't (from fantasy perspective and in real life), players who could face suspension or possible injury.

goals v Morecambe, stade nyonnais, Bradford, Bolton, rangers, 2 of which were pens hardly cause for investment. burnley's defensive style of play in the PL was obv going to limit gray's goalscoring chances. Then the fixtures weren't good either. VERY puzzling

          Ownership + Captaincy

So if a players' effective ownership is above 100% around your ranks and if he is not your captain, every point by him decreases your rank (Science bi+ch) - so you should pray for his failure even if he is in your team!

Fellaini is an extra tall head for defensive duty till Smalling returns and Zonal marking is figured out by the players. Which is also why I don't expect Zlatan to be subbed early, even if he's tired

Swap Pieters for Friend and yes!
Slightly gutted on Foster as I was debating pre deadline:
            DelaF/Heaton V Lamella/Jax (which meant playing Fister)

Sight crashed so the decision was taken out of my hands 🙁

LIASTRO - it depends on how many players you want to transfer in. As others have suggested, wait until Monday night after the last game and re assess. If you feel that half of your starting 11 could be improved significantly with players who you feel will continue to be starting and producing the goods go for it. Early wildcards are frowned upon in here but I have found them to be a great idea year after year! 😉

      Alli-Firminio-Mahrez-Tadic
      Gray-Ibra-Aguero
      Thinking of a few tweaks:
The obvious one is to get Negredo instead of Gray given Mid has Sunderland next week.
The other two is get Lamela for Alli or Redmond for Tadic inorder to free up some cash.
      So suggestions ?

Got tired playing as the FWD. Koeman seems to trust him and I suspect he will play the full 90 when Lukaku lines up and he's back on the wings.

If you still like him (cos you had to have reasons for picking him in the first place) , I'd hold. Unless you think your evaluation of him/Everton was wrong then I'd switch. It's only GW1 after all.

With Bolasie on the way I'm not too sure anyone's safe to be honest.

Mirallas, Barkley, Delboy, Bolasie, Lennon etc....

Tough to know who's really safe. Maybe different if Lukaku leaves but I hear that's all press rumors and he's happy to stay now.

Could be. Jannsen was the game changer.

He came in for Dier though, not one of those 4

Janssen vs Kane and Musa vs Vardy could prove interesting if the formers become fairly nailed... Europe might scupper that though.

I think we were hindered by pairing Dier and Wanyama together. Once one went off we found our flow and dominated the middle of the pitch. Kane needed help as he was occupying 3 defenders. Jansenn looked excellent though. If Poch perseveres with 2 up front Jansenn could be a bargain
