We’ve now launched our latest captain poll to canvas your opinion on the likely favourites and differential options for the armband in Gameweek 2.

You can find the poll in the middle column of the homepage or at the bottom of the homepage on mobile. Remember, we are looking for your vote for the player you think will be most effective, regardless of whether you own them in your squad.

With a goal and maximum Fantasy Premier League bonus points each in Gameweek 1, Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero (13.0) and Manchester United’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic (11.5) are set to dominate the captaincy poll once again, particularly as the pair are FPL’s  most owned attacking players.

A home tie against Southampton may prompt many to favour the 42.9% owned Swede over Aguero, who sits in 45.9% of squads. However, Manchester United could struggle to break down a Southampton side that is unlikely to give away too many chances. In Gameweek 1 no team conceded fewer attempts in the box than the south coast side.

While Aguero has a tricky away clash against Stoke, he could still be in line to prosper as the Potters will be without first choice goalkeeper Jack Butland due to injury. Out of Aguero’s 24 goals last term, a respectable nine came on the road.

Ordinarily a home clash against Crystal Palace ought to place Tottenham’s Harry Kane (11.0) at the summit of our captain poll, but with the 19.6% owned England striker failing to register a single goal attempt in Gameweek 1’s away tie with Everton, there’s a need to show caution.

Saturday’s blank means that Kane has scored just once in the last 10 league fixtures where Tottenham midfielder Mousa Dembele has been missing. The influential Belgian will once again be absent this weekend due to suspension.

For those looking for a differential armband pick, two of Gameweek 1’s goal scoring mid-price strikers may be factors to consider.

With a strike against Manchester City last weekend, Jermain Defoe (7.0), who is owned by only 5.4% of FPL managers, will be in confident mood when Middlesbrough visit the Stadium of Light on Sunday.

West Brom’s Salomon Rondon will be similarly buoyed when Everton visit The Hawthorns, following the 2.6% owned forward’s winning strike against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

West Ham and Liverpool also offer Fantasy managers with a raft of potential high scoring captaincy options in Gameweek 2. With three goals between them in Liverpool’s Sunday lunchtime victory over Arsenal, Sadio Mane (9.0) and Philippe Coutinho (8.0), who has been drafted in by 68,000+ managers this week to take his ownership to 17.1%, offer plenty of potential when they visit Burnley. In terms of FPL ownership, Mane is just behind the Brazilian with 16%.

While their team-mate Robert Firmino (8.5) failed to deliver attacking returns at the Emirates, his strong underlying statistics in the Arsenal match suggest he, too, could reward his 11% ownership.

A favourable home tie against Bournemouth is likely to attract interest in West Ham’s assets, particularly Dimitri Payet (9.5), who scored nine times and assisted a further 13 goals last season. His suitors will be paying close attention to the 28.7%-owned midfielder’s performance at Stamford Bridge tonight.

We will be back to check in on progress in the poll later this week, as we deliver our “Captain Sensible” article offering our view of the results and the statistics behind the leading contenders.

Forgotten what a crazy game Fantasy Footy is -

I still have Hazard and Carroll left to play, but so far all of my players except Redmond have scored just 2 points -

Forster, Shaw, Valencia, Sanchez, Eriksen, Firmino, Gray and Vardy.

I'm almost the only one with ibra in my mini league...

Seems very hard to choose either him or Kun for capt this week.

Based on the fact all my rivals will capt Kun, I should do the same to protect the reasonable start I have had....

Koeman said: “Yannick is a player who has been a long time on my radar because he’s the type of winger I like – fast, strong and he can play different positions in the forward line. He’s a really good signing for the Club.

“At 27, he’s a good age and he has experience in the Premier League. He will give strength to the team and I’m very pleased to have Yannick as part of what we are trying to build here at Everton.”

Tadic was MOTM on Saturday. Keep him.

Walcott/Cazorla may not even start this GW.

Cazorla most likely will if Ramsey is out injured. Walcott looked good too. Arsenal MF so hard to predict though, AOC was brilliant when he came on.

I don't have Tadic but would keep personally. 2 favourable home games in the next 4. Arsenal do have good fixtures but not sure I like either of Walcott or Cazorla.

I was flipping between Cazorla and Tadic all pre-season. In the event I made a last minute swap using the app to Tadic. Was going to reverse it, but thought it didn't go through (the app is rubbish) - turns out it did and I really regret it! However Tadic is meant to have played great and was unlucky not to get on the scoreboard. Cazorla got the points but he only came on a substitute for the last 30 mins so his game time isn't at all certain (and that's before Ozil returns too). I'm not using to use a transfer to go back to Cazorla, Tadic is still a great option for the season even if he didn't deliver points at the weekend.

        No Ramsey or Iwobi.
But Ozil and maybe Giroud to come back.
Maybe it's best to wait another week and see Wenger's preferred Arsenal XI.

I'm waiting until GW 4/5 personally, even when Ozil & Giroud come back we have no idea of their fitness and form.

Whoa boy, couldn't think of anything more knee jerky. Tadic was amazing, keep him there and save.

Has to be Aguero for me, he's pretty much nailed on as my captain all season unless he gets injured or someone goes on a killer spree.

BTW have there been any changes to the price rise system this season? Never quite got to grips with the changes last season.

No changes to scoring or pricing

This site is helpful to keep an eye on when price changes will be happening - http://www.fplstatistics.co.uk/

Thank you. At what point to the price rises come into effect? - I see Coutinho is over the threshold now.

It'll happen sometime tonight; usually sometime after midnight BST.

    Those without Ibra:

Costa and Lukaku have better fixtures, and cost less

Costa could be a really good pick this season.

Agree, I'm very worried about not owning Costa at the moment.

Wait and see on those two, I think.
At least until the transfer window is closed. They could still be on the way out.

Chose Costa over him from the start.

Aye, had Lukaku in my draft team for ages until a last minute change to Costa. He's been largely overlooked I feel. I feel as though if he wants to leave for someone like Atletico he'll want to impress, if he wants to stay then the Batsh signing / Lukaku rumours will fire him up. Hopefully.

Anyone know when RMT in the members area is likely to be updated please?

Anyone fancy Rooney over Ibra? Underlying stats are much better, and his average position was even slightly further forward.

      I've considered it.

      Zlatans ownership is the worry

I've got Oscar and Azpilicueta tonight.

I would be chuffed with a minimum of 10 points.
