Dugout Discussion – Man United vs Southampton

The first of 10 Friday night kick-offs of the 2016/17 season gets underway as Man United play host to Southampton at 8pm.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic carries the armband hopes of many heading into Gameweek 2. Second only to Sergio Aguero in this week’s captain poll, another big display from the Swede this evening should continue the bandwagon that’s already earned him in excess of 45% ownership.

There’s also the small matter of Paul Pogba to consider. Having served a one-match ban last weekend, the Frenchman is poised for a second debut and has been named in the hosts’ first XI.

Having emerged victorious from Old Trafford in each of the last two seasons, the Saints will be hoping to take up the role of part poopers once again as Jose Mourinho prepares for his first home match in charge of the Red Devils.

Claude Puel’s side stuttered to a 1-1 home draw against Watford last time out, though produced more attempts on goal that any side in Gameweek 1.

Dusan Tadic created more chances than any other player in the opening round of fixtures, whilst Nathan Redmond’s 75,000 new owners will be looking for a repeat of last week’s goal and subsequent two-point haul against the Hornets.

    Vardy to Ibra
    Alli to Lamela

Done. Take the price rises and avoid potential fallers. I hope Vardy gets a brace to limit Ibras brace but I will eat humble pie and get Ibra in. Dont even ask how I am going to get Arsenal cover in!!!

I wasn't interested in a -4 as basically means Ibra scored 1 goal. So good thing I waited as if Vardy and Aguero score well then no difference to me.

That's exactly the move I've just made. Feels good, not worried about losing out on Ibras goals tonight. Had Luke Sha
w anyway, and a goal for Vardy tomorrow would cap off nicely ☺

Unlucky, I picked ibra as more of a defensive move. I was worried he might come out of the blocks well with huge ownership, exactly what happened

Bad luck Valencia owners(who don't own Shaw) the positive is that Valencia isn't much behind Shaw in the baps even with the assist, points are definitely gonna be shared between them

    I got two options...

    A) Carroll & Alli -> Ibra & 4.5 TODAY(for free)
Would leave me with 433 formation with Ramirez as 3rd mid. (Got good fixtures coming so can live with that till things change).

    B) Kane -> Ibra tomorrow if the former doesn't perform
Think Kane will perform though so it would put me in difficult spot, 7/9 of my ML opponents have Ibra and after today other 2 will have him too, for sure + Hull is next., Kane has good fixtures too though.

All opinions very much appreciated 🙂
