The first of 10 Friday night kick-offs of the 2016/17 season gets underway as Man United play host to Southampton at 8pm.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic carries the armband hopes of many heading into Gameweek 2. Second only to Sergio Aguero in this week’s captain poll, another big display from the Swede this evening should continue the bandwagon that’s already earned him in excess of 45% ownership.

There’s also the small matter of Paul Pogba to consider. Having served a one-match ban last weekend, the Frenchman is poised for a second debut and has been named in the hosts’ first XI.

Having emerged victorious from Old Trafford in each of the last two seasons, the Saints will be hoping to take up the role of part poopers once again as Jose Mourinho prepares for his first home match in charge of the Red Devils.

Claude Puel’s side stuttered to a 1-1 home draw against Watford last time out, though produced more attempts on goal that any side in Gameweek 1.

Dusan Tadic created more chances than any other player in the opening round of fixtures, whilst Nathan Redmond’s 75,000 new owners will be looking for a repeat of last week’s goal and subsequent two-point haul against the Hornets.

    I'm confused. I want to keep Tadic but his price drop scares me. He has been really good these two first games of the season, but the problem is he is so much more class than his teammates. Will he be able to score points with these players around him?

    What will you Tadic owners do? Aren't you afraid of his price drop?

          FFFix bases its projections on rate of transfers. But what happens immediately after a game or around a deadline usually doesn't sustain for too long.

          For that reason, FFFix often gets over-excited with projections when players are the subject of a spate of transfers and projects them as rising/falling a day or two earlier than they actually do. If that helps.

          If you look at FFFix at around 2AM or in the morning you will see a different picture because the rate of transfers will have slowed. The projection will then be more realistic.

      make of it what you will, but I'm sticking with kane. a lot of people forgetting it's only gw2 imo.

      zlatan will score 3 types of goals - headers, long distance shots, pens.
      kane scores all types of goals.

        Both good options.

        I think people are overreacting slightly.

        Is Ibra good? Yes. Could he improve? Yes. Is that guaranteed? No.

        Aguero, Ibra and Kane are all proven scorers on pens in solid teams who should score them points. You could argue one is essential as a solid captain option to go to, but 2 or all 3 is debatable and it's still early to say one in particular is a must.

        For the record I have Aguero and Ibra and I'm still worried by Kane. However there's no way I can fit all 3 so will have to be happy with the 2 I do have. Will I panic if Kane catches fire? Not unless the other two don't keep pace, and if that happens a simple sideways trade should be possible.

        People need to stay calm and back your choices at this early stage.

      Okay the initial impact of no Ibra has passed....

      Plans to bring him in aborted.

      He scored 9 last week and my team managed to outscore a lot of Ibra teams, time to keep the faith and re-assess Sunday evening.

          My point is that there is really no need to take hits or downgrade other players to get Ibra because he won't always score and there are cheaper alternatives.
