The first of 10 Friday night kick-offs of the 2016/17 season gets underway as Man United play host to Southampton at 8pm.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic carries the armband hopes of many heading into Gameweek 2. Second only to Sergio Aguero in this week’s captain poll, another big display from the Swede this evening should continue the bandwagon that’s already earned him in excess of 45% ownership.

There’s also the small matter of Paul Pogba to consider. Having served a one-match ban last weekend, the Frenchman is poised for a second debut and has been named in the hosts’ first XI.

Having emerged victorious from Old Trafford in each of the last two seasons, the Saints will be hoping to take up the role of part poopers once again as Jose Mourinho prepares for his first home match in charge of the Red Devils.

Claude Puel’s side stuttered to a 1-1 home draw against Watford last time out, though produced more attempts on goal that any side in Gameweek 1.

Dusan Tadic created more chances than any other player in the opening round of fixtures, whilst Nathan Redmond’s 75,000 new owners will be looking for a repeat of last week’s goal and subsequent two-point haul against the Hornets.

You don't need to be premier league proven to be a top player. It's a load of nonsense.

You really dont. It is 1 goal mate. There are enough guys in his mouth. If you want him though get him. I might but my players still to play.

Nah I think I do. Cant have Ibra decimating my rank every week

        1. Worzel Gummidge
          9 years, 11 months ago

Your other forwards haven't played lol. I repeat. It is just 1 goal. Hardly decimating your rank. All depends how your other players do and that extra cash does.

It's just smart management to bring him in. Watching him play every week praying he doesnt score isnt enjoyable at all.

            1. Worzel Gummidge
              9 years, 11 months ago

Ok well if thats how you feel with that last comment then get him in if thats how you feel. We can agree to disagree on your first comment. I am more than confident my forwards can score at least 1 goal as well.

He's 11.5, not sure if I am completely satisfied with being on the right place once each game. With Aguero for example you have the feeling he can score a hattrick each game.

Flipped a coin to go with that combo before GW1. Went with the Vardy/Alli one. Been considering it all week for -4, didn't. Now doing it tonight.

Don't know how he does it... Zlatan was wandering around, dropping way too deep for my liking and then bam! Such a quality player that he only needs one chance, one shot on target and a very good chance he'll find the back of the net.

What this has come down to is if you don't get in Ibra now, you never should.

You have to be all in or all out. Worth it vs not worth it. Odds say he scores 12-13 more goals this season.
