Saturday treats us to seven more Gameweek 2 matches, with Stoke entertaining Man City in the early lunchtime kick-off.

Sergio Aguero will be hoping to continue the momentum that’s already harvested six goals in his first four outings under Pep Guardiola.

Having seen Zlatan Ibrahimovic score twice and rack up 13 points last night, though, the Argentine has plenty to do to vindicate his place at the top of this week’s captain poll.

City warmed up for this one with a 5-0 hammering of Steaua Bucharest on Tuesday evening, and their manager has been reluctant to make changes – Pep Guardiola makes just one alteration from that match in Romania, with Nolito replaced by Jesus Navas on the flank.

For the Potters, Shay Given once again deputises for the stricken Jack Butland, who remains sidelined with an ankle injury sustained in training prior to Gameweek 1.

Mark Hughes makes one enforced change for the hosts, with the injured Xherdan Shaqiri repalced by Joe Allen. Bojan is expected to switch to the right flank to allow Allen to tuck in behind Mame Biram Diouf.

That's the weakness in Pep's system. Wingbacks tuck inside - big space on the wing.

Man City have taken over from Palace as being the best team for beards this season.

Don't fancy Silva's chances of growing a Captain Birdseye though.

People are justifying taking hits to get Ibra in a week ahead of the deadline on the basis that they will 'beat the price rises' and that a high transfer value will be needed later in the season to accommodate a decent team around Ibra and Aguero.

If I wanted to get Ibra in I'd rather wait a week and see what happens. I'm not doubting you'd still want him or even saying that he might get injured, but you could take a hit to get Ibra in only for Aguero to get injured for example. I'd rather pay a little extra as a price for the extra information that will come over the next week.

And the argument about needing a great transfer value doesn't necessarily hold. A few seasons back Sunderland had a good run of fixtures. People with high transfer value, including me, were getting Sessegnon whilst those with low values had to settle for McLean. McLean brought in more points. Or last season I had to have Alli as my 4th midfielder when I originally got him as a 5th, he did great whilst those with higher team value benched him and missed out. There will be good budget options that emerge later in the season and I think if you have obsessed about building up a high transfer value early on then you are less likely to take advantage of them.

Fair points Clarence. I think they are simply worried about Ibra getting another big haul and it leaving them struggling for rank if they don't get him now as well as the value.
