Dugout Discussion – Spurs vs Liverpool

Gameweek 3 gets underway in some style: on paper, the early kick-off at White Hart Lane has the makings of a classic. However, much depends on the version of the Liverpool side that turns up.

Jurgen Klopp’s men were spectacular in the season opener against Spurs’ north London rivals, Arsenal. They followed that display a week later with frustrating showing at Burnley, as they slipped to a 2-0 reverse having hogged 83% of the ball.

As for Spurs, they’ve certainly failed to spark to this point. A stalemate with Everton was followed by a stuttering display against Palace, which eventually saw them grind out a 1-0 win.

Harry Kane is back as the lone striker. Philippe Coutinho is fit and on the Liverpool teamsheet. The scene is set for the big Fantasy assets to come to the fore.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Jansen coming on. Dier to right back, Alli to defensive midfield and Kane to number 10 would be my prediction.

Probably but depends on how my players go today.

My tip for fellow GW4 WC'ers is to just take hits and push the button just before the GW4 deadline. This way our transfers will actually count to price changes.

Could get 12 risers tonight, that's massive. And yeah, i always do that anyway, hope others follow suit. Tbh, more looking forward to seeing certain players falling in price and getting them in. Like Alexis for example, could do with him blanking again

No. He's decent against open opposition, useless against those who sit deep.

      Just another Gervinho.

So I was thinking... How much do set pieces (primarily corners and indirect free kicks) actually detract from realistic returns? I (and most people) are always really excited to have a player on set pieces but what if we consider it meaning they are never going to be the one scoring (other than a typically rare direct free kick). And how often do they actually get credit for an assist compared to someone in the box who nods it down for someone else?

Just a thought. All opinions welcomed.

I don't know about that, but it's good for chance creation and thus baps at least.

Fabregas was a real beneficiary of this couple years ago.

Fair point as well. I guess it just never seems like they grab many assists when I own them, or at least not in comparison to others who aren't on the set pieces. Probably just my mind playing games.
