Our next members article of the week takes a closer look at goal threat from the back. We focus on Fantasy Premier League defenders priced at 5.0 or below as we delve into the Opta data in an attempt to seek out value in our five-man backlines.
Not much love for Ibra in the captain poll. City haven't kept a clean sheet yet. Can see him bullying Stones and getting a decent haul
Not sure how this derby will turn out... it maybe 2-1 or it maybe 0-0 also. Hence there's always a doubt.
Yeah you could be right, just can't look past Chelsea assets though.
I hear you. Bringing Hazard in so it will be between him and Ibra for the armband
1) Williams or Stones?
2) Stoke def or Watford def? who?second one for 4.5m
williams
stoke, pieters.
Thoughts on Abel Hernandez .
He's quite able.
hahha 😀
bony or remy ? ..or hold on to gray
Hold Gray until decision final ... if he plays this week against Hull there could be points!
Hull defence is good
Remy all day....
Gray might play this week- hold until then. If not I'd select Bony from those two, but would go for Benteke or Deoe before either.
Good to Go?
Schmeicel
Valencia / Evans / Friend
Hazard / Redmond / Firmino / Bolasie
Zlatan / Grey / Lukaku
Jaku / Capoue / Stones / Pieters
0FT & 4.8ITBAnyone?
why u hv 4.8 itb... upgrade mid mate
Looking good, pray for Gray.
i'd be concerned at lack of arsenal cover, especially when you're doing so by doubling up on everton attack.
unless you're keeping money ITB for getting aguero back in, in which case i can understand the budget nature of your squad.
still, i'd be worried about not having one of sanchez/walcott/cazorla and instead going with bolasie. firmino/redmond are good shouts with the OOP potential. Not really keen on a -4 to be honest.
For those on a WC are you getting a Man U defender or not?
shaw
Be silly not to
Yes I am. Would seem silly not to given the combined Valencia/Shaw ownership. Plus Mourinho parks the bus in big games so they're likely to be decent picks regardless of the fixture.
Cheers guys, already own Valencia but worried about some of their fixtures coming up and think I could get better value for $$$ elsewhere
Valencia will provide attacking points n with mourinho defence .... that can only be good or we say gold
any ppl in UCL fantasy league?
Is Pieters nailed for Stoke?
Is he better pick than Holebas?Pieters is nailed but is about to drop in price. Don't fancy Stoke defence without Butland. Holebas seems a decent option.
Evans?Already have Evans. Want a 4.5 def who have good fixtures starting in 2-3 gameweeks time. These are the best option for my search I think.
wait for him to drop to 4.4...
Watford HV good fixtures though
I will choose pietersstretch to Collins or mcAuley IMO
..Evans also a great shout than pieters n holebas
Yes
Yesthanks guys
Any thoughts on how to upgrade this front 8? Besides Ibra. 1.3m itb
hazard sanchez sterling barkley Antonio
rooney benteke diomandeDiomande is a poor choice, but I presume you'll bench him and already know that.
Rooney looks like a weakness, turn him into Costa?
Looks good other than those two.
I have
Haz, Sterling, Sanch and Wilshere
Ibra, Lukaku, Tekkers
I am not convince of Wilshere. I have 0 in the bank. Who would you sacrifice to get a better 4th midfielder if you are playing 3-4-3?Get Snodgrass or Redmond for Wilshere or downgrade a defender to upgrade him
On a wc, already own Shaw. Bought at 5.5. Would you stick or twist to Valencia? Seemed to be more attacking last week
Whats the difference between sticking and twisting?
Stick = Shaw. Twist = Valencia
Twist
hold for now though I would hv liked Shaw to go to 5.7 then selling him for 5.6 n getting Valencia for 5.5..
would hv been lovely 😀When you say hold for now do you just mean till Friday? The talk after the previous week was that Pogba was allowing Shaw to be more attacking, but this seemed to reverse last week. Shaw was the only Man U Def with no bonus. Not sure if this is likely to continue through the season or not. Agree the price increase would have been lovely
I think if you have Shaw from start hold him ...monitor Valencia and shaw's attacking input in next few gw ..
atm they are very much 1-1 ....Shaw got 11 points against saints then Valencia got more than Shaw in last gw
they are yo-yooing their attacking inputs so farOK thanks. I always tend to get an itchy trigger finger on wc
Valencia
Get both!
Foster Jaku
Valencia Stones Kone Amat Targett
Haz Firmino Lamela Redmond Capoue
Aguero Ibra Benteke
2FT 0 in bank
Plan A: Aguero/Capoue > Zaza/Ozil and play Kone/Valencia AOA chip this week and do Targett > Baines/Coleman next week benching Firmino away to Chelsea.
Plan B: Aguero/Redmond > Sanchez/Zaza playing Valencia/Kone/Stones at the back this week then do Capoue > either Chadli or Bolasie next week and play AOA before week 6 wildcard.
Opinions please? Thank youAny takers on Coleman at 5.4 I know there is Williams and Baines but 1% ownership a nice diff and back for Ireland so should be good to go.
Tempted. Could well be among the attacking points especially if playing at wingback
Hard to ignore Baines on pens though
Thanks pens the only thing stopping me right now.
this
Should I Wildcard?
Heaton ( Jaku )
Shaw / Stones / Morgan ( Friend, Amat )
Alli / Hazard / Townsend / Ramirez ( Capoue )
Costa / Gray / Ibrahimovic
into this
Heaton ( pickford )
Evans / Shaw / Williams ( souare, amat )
Ozil / Barkley / Antonio / Hazard ( capoue )
Ibrahimovic / Benteke / CostaI think so. The WC team looks a lot better.
Don't ask 'should', ask 'need'.
Thanks guys. Any other feedback from others would be great
30 weeks until next WC..
barkley, costa, evans? wtf
On WC. Would you double up on United defence with Shaw and Valencia or go with Valencia and Baines?
The latter. Personally I won't double up on United defence in case I want any of their mids in the coming weeks (have Ibra)
+ baines on pen
fellas, is collins nailed?
atm looks very much so...he jumped ahead of ogbonna
cool, thanks
play Valencia or Stones?
Valencia. More chance of attacking points
Valencia
Didnt Mourinho say Valencia would be back too late to play?
He did but no one believed him
cheers
It's only a matter of time before Hull get smashed, surely! No team gives up so many shots and chances and concede so few goals
Arsenal next week.
well it was also a matter of time when everyone was thinking Leicester gonna fall flat and can't continue their winning ......
although Hull's upcoming fixtures are really dreadingLast season Burnley were fourth for most shots conceded in the Championship, yet ended up conceding the second fewest goals. All depends on what type of shots you are limiting the opposition to.
You never know. Pool concede so few shots and concede so many goals.
How's my wildcard looking?
Foster (Pickford)
Evans, Coleman, Valencia (Amat, Love)
Hazard, Ozil, Barkley, Payet (4.5)
Lukaku, Ibra, RondonNot a huge fan of Love, Barkley or Rondon.
Downgrade Barks and get Defoe or Benteke instead of RonAwfully shallow defence, isn't coleman injured? And Valencia will get back late from internationals. You'll be relying on both amat and love playing. Payet to Antonio then upgrade the defence?
Coleman will start. And yeah i might do Valencia > Masuako
Are we sure Pickford will be nailed? Fifa haven't replied yet i think.
Be wary of Love. He didn't start last week.
Payet is not in form. Atm Antonio is better west ham coverage.Maybe Payet/Rondon > Sterling/Zaza?
Barkley and payet to Lamela and antonio and Rondon and Love can be upgraded.
If Baines is on penalties does that make Lukaku a non option?
With penalties so important this season, can you afford to carry a striker that does not have them? Not much competition in his price bracket, he's the best of the sub premium plus 6.5ers, esp with those fixtures. Don't love it but he'll probably end up in my wc team
I don't think it's impossible that Lukaku takes the next pen. Sometimes it's important to get your striker's confidence up and get him on the scoresheet.
i have used my wildcard..
what about my team?
Foster (Pickford)
Stones, Valencia, Jagielka, (Holding, Amat)
Sanchez, Hazard, Sterling, Lamela (Fer)
Lukaku, Ibrahimovic, StuaniHolding will lose his place eventually.
You have to play Stuani or Fer each week.
Personally think Williams is better pick than Jagielka.
Rest is good.Holding won't play again probably not even this week. I would change to a Evans, Kone or any 4.5 of your choice.Nice picks but Fer or Stauani every week?
who are punting on who this gw? zaza remy wilshere lol? can be fascinating to know
Pereyra & AoA chip
I am going for Zaza I think and 90% sure I'm gonna captain. With not much in the captaincy this week I feel this is a good week to really take a punt.
that's a very big punt to captain him
hope it pays off cheers 😀
Slimani. Liv 4 lei 3 slim Hattrick
can very much see that happening ...
even if he comes on as a sub due to the tendency of pools conceding n struggling against big mens up front
nice punt
Giroud will surely start this week. Could be a golden differential?
How strong is that 'surely'?
He's my current favorite Aguero replacement
Why is everyone against Payet? Hard to not see him hitting form with these fixtures
Too difficult to squeeze him in beside Hazard and Arsenal midfielder when Antonio offers similar value for 2.5 million less.
No one think he can't do well. I personally think Antonio can match Payet's return now that he has been confirmed a winger berth with 2.5m less price tag.
Antonio +2.5 for me too
If you have to choose one between Pereyra, Redmond and Bolasie who will it be?
Bolasie
Redmond
Redmond. ...only for oop
Redmond
routledge to up to 8m for a hit?
any recommendation? or keep?not for a hit, can wait a week i think
thanks
RMWCT:
GK - Heaton (Pickford)
DEF - Shaw, Williams, McAuley (Friend, Amat)
MID - Hazard, Ozil, Sterling, Antonio (Fletcher)
FOR - Lukaku, Negredo, Ibra
I have 1.2 million in the bank. Then after 2 GW I'm using my 2 FT to do: Lukaku to Aguero and Sterling to Snodgrass.Sounds fair enough!
Snodgrass will likely rise
Maybe Josh King 5.5 million.
Thinking of Mirallas/ Bolasie as everton cover. Lukaku and Barkley will most probably troll everyone anyway
Sorry if I missed it but was there some Baston love? Seems a tidy player to me
A) Baines Antonio Tekkers
B) Williams Bolasie Kaku
C) Baines Puncheon KakuI bet everyone will answer A. But I like C as well.
and if you had to pick between the two...
Hard to say. I currently have Baines, Antonio, Puncheon and Benteke in my (wildcard) team (but that probably means you should avoid them because I seldom get it right).
Antonio is perhaps safer than Puncheon, which naturally is reflected in the price, but Puncheon seems to have some promising underlying stats, so with Benteke and Remy up front he might be good.
Lukaku is probably safer than Benteke, and Everton’s fixtures are really good, but I went with Costa since I think Chelsea will do better than Everton in the long run.
