what do you think of this WC draft :
    Jakupovic , Mandanda
    Shaw , Baines , Robertson , Evans , Amat
    Hazard , Ozil , Sterling , Antonio , Capoue
    Ibrahimovic , Lukaku , Benteke

Jaku losing his spot and not sure about Mandanda, the rest looks brilliant. Slight concern over Lukaku having not done anything yet and he himself admitted he's out of touch right now, but he looks the best of the attackers given the fixtures ... you could insert Costa for the time being and then swap once he hits his straps?

Is Mandanda because you can't find .1 for heaton or because you rate him?

What about Pickford for Jaku? 0.1 cheaper and he will be starting for the foreseeable future

*Announcement for a draft league for 2nd international break*

    *NOT an FPL thing*

The draft is a "slow draft" on Fantrax. There are 9 hours on the draft clock per pick. The idea is not for people to use the whole clock but to allow for global participation and allow people to sleep and work without stressing about being in the draft room every waking minute. It takes about 10 days during the 2nd international break, starts October 2.

11 players are drafted by each team. You start 7 players with a bench of 4 each week.
    1 GK
    2 to 4 defenders
    1 to 3 mids
    0 to 2 strikers

You have to stay on top of "free agent" players and make claims and drops (of current players) to keep your squad fresh, deal with injuries, etc.

You also can trade players with other managers in the league.

It is a 20 team division. Top 3 or more teams are promoted to division 2 (as we have some drop outs from the upper divisions, more managers from division 3 get promoted).

Some people like the draft format and some hate it.

A primary rule of the league is that your team name needs to be injury related to go with the league name theme (Knocks & Niggles) and then put your FFS name in parentheses so folks know who you are. So examples are:
    Balotelli's Grass Allergy (Milanista)
    Injured For Eva (Balders)
    No Return Date (HeelsOverHead)
    Strained Groins (Pundit of Punts)
    Torn ACL (TM245)

If you're interested, there are openings in our 3rd division. Each division is 20 teams and there are promotions/relegations.

    Good strategy?
    - Sell Aguero
    - Upgrade fifth mid with extra funds
    - Play AoA
    - Bench Man Utd and City defenders

    - WC in two weeks when Aguero is back to correct the team

Have seldom heard of anyone making good use of the AOA chip. If you can make it work for you, then that works. Not sure if the fixtures warrant it, but here's hoping you luck out and get a ton (100+)

    Foster - Jaku
    Valencia - Williams - Pieters - Robertson - Amat
    Hazard - Sanchez - Antonio - Sterling - Capoue
    Ibra - Lukaku - Negredo

    Thoughts lads?

Yeah Pieters is a question mark, have him out atm as I have WC on and he's gonna drop soon.

If Lukaku looks off the pace in tomorrow's international, will give him the boot and take a chance with - Sterling +Ozil, -Lukaku +Benteke, -Negredo +Defoe.

Have done Kone for Pieters right now as the latter is dropping soon anyway, and previously swapped Friend for Robertson. Very impressed by Hull's defence so far this season, think he'll be a good 4.5 to have.

Think I have the wildcard down to one question - Costa or Lukaku? Costa has the form but the fixtures aren't incredible (don't think they are awful though) and Lukaku has the fixtures but clearly needs to work himself back to fitness. What are people thinking? Am I missing someone obvious in this bracket (needs to be as cheap or cheaper than Costa)?

Lukaku is my choice (transfer is done already). His form is going to pick up for sure and the fixtures are fantastic.

Costa will get himself 5 yellows in no time and I don't want to be forced to make that transfer.

Hi guys! I am on WC.

    Pickford/de Gea
    Shaw, Williams, Walker, McAuley, Kone
    Lamela, Hazard, Cazorla, Puncheon, Bolasie
    Ibra, Iheanacho, Costa

If I want to buy Aguero back (and I do) then I will need to buy Diomande. My MF is a concern. I am unsure if Lamela will get game time in the next couple of games (Sissoko, Argentina and CL). I'd prefer Townsend to Puncheon but I can't afford him. I need an alternative to Bolasie (preferebly 5.5m or less). Any suggestions?

    1. Test Eagles
      • 15 Years
      10 years, 14 days ago

Benching headache, you'll be playing Iheanacho i assume ... so who do you bench. Puncheon > Capoue or Nacho > Diomande and upgrade the other

      1. The Big Fella
        • 10 Years
        10 years, 14 days ago

Thanks for the reply! Plan was to keep Iheanacho and Costa for the next 2 weeks as United game is tough for Ihea but B'mouth should be a good one for him as they like to open up and attack. Chelsea's next two fixtures have defensively weak teams. Then swap them both out for Diomande and El Kun in two GW.

Agree with the benching headache. Should I use football manager cliche like "it's a good problem to have though"?

Is Jermain Defoe being overlooked a bit on here, i think quite possibly.

He had a very good season last year with a Sunderland side that struggled throughout most of the season, with 15 goals. They've made some good upgrades in defense and Moyse will help them look more attacking. With the likes of Januzaj, Borini, Khazri and Watmore starting to look more comfortable, and some good fixtures ahead I'm surprised so many are going with the thus far untested in Zaza and Benteke when there's Defoe, in form, with 2 goals under his belt already ... sitting there for 7.1

Call me mad ... I'm picking him up this week!

    1. The Big Fella
      • 10 Years
      10 years, 14 days ago

Yeah I agree. If I could afford him as my 3rd striker, that is who I would go for. I was debating Januzaj for Bolasie but I am not sure which team's attacking player I would prefer. Sunderland also won't concede many this season, I think.

    Help please....

    Foster / Heaton
    Valencia / Stones / Collins / McAuley / Amat
    Hazard / Sanchez / Lamela / Redmond / Capoue
    Ibra / Costa / Negredo

    0.9m ITB

So this is my current WC team, my dilemmas are:

    1. I want to get Antonio in, ideally I'd swap out Redmond, but I'm 0.1m short... so straight swap for Lamela - worth it??

    2. Is Collins nailed, mixed opinions on here...

Plan Kun... I plan to get Aguero back in by saving my FT next GW then transferring out Sanchez / Costa for Sterling / Aguero... this is only possible if I keep 0.7m ITB.

Would love your comments and advice please!!

    Thanks 🙂

Lamela is not a sure thing for next couple of weeks IMO as he has international duty, a long flight back, a CL fixture coming up and an expensive, new player brought in that can play his position

No problem. I think beyond the next few GW it will be Sissoko and Lamela with Erikson being benched as he is inconsistent but I just think with the long flight back from Argentina 2 days before his PL game and then the CL match that Lamela may be rested. All just my opinion but I am going through same thing now as I also have Lamela.

You've got no reason to wildcard. Even if Gray gets a ban you can play Capoue and feel pretty good about it. Personally, I think holding onto the wildcard for another two weeks will help sort out a bunch of pertinent questions, but if you feel it burning a hole in your pocket, do what your gut tells you.

        Yeah my thoughts exactly,
Should I take a hit for the time being thought
        i.e. Gray> Costa/Vardy/Negredo/Defoe
        or Redmond > Ozil/anyone else

With nothing in the bank, the moves you mention would require a -8, right?

11.4 for one midfielder and one forward. Really stuck on who to go for, any help?

    Current midfield and forwards are:
    Hazard - Özil - Payet - Capoue
    Costa - Ibra

    Thanks 🙂

I am gonna go with Gray personally. Think best budget option considering Costa/Ibrah on the expensive side. Then spend the rest on any number of strong mids.

Hmmm. You're in a tough spot because picking a super-budget forward forces you to play Capoue every week, yet getting someone even at Rondon's price leaves only 4.9 for the other mid.

I guess I'd go with Diomande and a decent-ish midfielder, like Redmond, Arnautovic (who I think will hit his stride shortly), or Mirallas.

To think he practically gave up at 27 and pissed the rest of his life away is sad but an utter genius with a football

Glad you enjoyed it. I was searching for a different vid of him on Youtube and saw this and thought it needed to be shared somewhere, somehow. And yeah, it is amazing that he basically walked away from the big time and went wandering in lesser leagues and what not.

Easy to judge i guess but if i had the choice to lie on a beach all day sipping pina coladas and could have any woman i wanted by my side perhaps several and still have a kick about every now and again i may have chosen that route myself lol

If you haven't read his autobiography i would highly recommend
it.. being a Man United fan from Belfast he is a massive hero of mine and everyone here..

Would love to read that autobiography. And, yeah. I was thinking the same thing in regards to his life decisions. It occurs to me that if I were a filmmaker, it would be cool to do a movie on him.

Wow. Weird thing for me how like Messi he looks. Even that slight forward tilt of the head and shoulders and ability to just go sides way and still past people. Class.

And the strength he had to ride a tackle and those were tackles - half of them looked like leg breakers if he did not get out of the way.

I suppose it's only right that players from different eras shouldn't be compared because no one in todays game would have been subjected to tackles like that and i doubt any of them would move so gracefully with the condition of the pitches back then compared to the ones today.. like carpet ffs

He was meant to have been so bad for poo last season and maybe was not great but look at points per minute even last year. Scored for Villa nough said. Clincher for me fixtures and quality of Remy beside him.

Not that I've seen. I like in the Rate My Team section, under Players, how you can create minimum and maximum price thresholds. I think the stats section would be even more handy if that kind of functionality were added.
