After taking a look at defenders priced 5.0 and under and midfielders costing no more than 8.0, our batch of members articles now focuses on the men up front.

With the Fantasy Premier League market in overdrive due to Sergio Aguero’s three-match ban, we cast an eye over the strikers worth considering in the sub 8.0 category.

Just doing some Baseline BPS stuff(will publish results/an article during the next international break, 3 weeks is not enough data) and forget Valencia, forget Shaw, Blind is the one to own if you want a United defender.

      Bailly very close behind him.

        Yeah.

Shaw's 2 bonus points in gameweek 2 was the product of a penalty assist.

Valencia's 3 bonus points in gameweek 3 was from just a crazy amount of ball volume, doubt we'll see such a thing again.

Valencia will be a crossing machine for as long as Mata plays right wing... He drifts in and leaves the space for Valencia to bomb forward

Valencia's numbers will be good, but he won't attempt 14 crosses too frequently. You're paying for pure attacking potential with Valencia, solid defensive numbers with Blind.

As I said though, 3 weeks is too early to draw strong conclusions, especially with many teams yet to play with their summer signings among the backline.

Hopefully i'll have enough time to look at CBI, ball recoveries, passing stats, crossing stats etc. for most of the 'good' teams and make long-ish term conclusions.

          Both good options though.

Plenty of reason to think Mourinho may be about to go down the wingless wonder route after his last comments...with Valencia and Shaw providing the width.

Most likely, Mkhitaryan will be playing off the right soon, even better for Valencia, maybe. I think if you want a differential, Blind could be a good one with only 3.5% ownership.

Mourinho has said he's gonna shake things up a bit with increased fixtures (League cup and Europa) starting in sept. I agree they've been great together, but Smalling is too good not to get his chance... Been one of the best cb in the pl the last 2 seasons

Doing week-by-week baseline scores this year, gunna be lit. Might even add in consistency ratings and stuff.

Nope, yanked time played bonuses along with goals, assists, cleanies, peno saves, own goals and red cards.

Cool, i've also had to add a new column just for Baines' penalty miss. I do, however, remove yellow cards for an initially small sample size.

I think it's time to invent an expected bonus point metric and get really ahead of the curve.

I was on the fence with yellows, decided to keep them though as they're no bigger a skew than big chances created and yellows are common enough and repeatable enough to be considered part of a players baseline performance IMO.

I really don't understand how these players are 'so affected' by their contribution in Euros. Is it genuinely just more of a holiday than resting from fatigue? The game time seems insignificant for most, not to mention it was ages ago, but a lot of these players didn't start a single game or even play a single game for that matter. Super intense training?

Bailey getting 22 BPS and Blind 23 without a clean sheet in GW 1 says enough about how solid their bonus potential is. Still think Valencia makes enough crosses per game and has enough assist potential with Ibra in the team to be right up there. The most switched on managers will be doubling up on a Utd fullback + CB when they go on a run of fixtures.

A few things to consider here. I believe Mou said that Blind wouldn't be used as a centre-back in preseason, which obviously contradicts his current game time but we have to expect Smalling to be part of the team, don't we? Also I strongly believe the total BPS figures will be skewed more in favour of Shaw or Valencia if they keep up the attacking form and get a decent number of assists.

RMT (WC) - finally stopped tinkering 😉

    Heaton, Pickford
    Shaw, Stones, Evans, Lowton, Francis
    Sterling, Antonio, Hazard, Sanchez, Zaha
    Negredo, Benteke, Ibrahimovic

Plan is to save two transfers for GW6 and then:

    Sanchez > Snodgrass
    Benteke > Aguero

    Thoughts?

Maybe not straight away, but he's by no means nailed on any longer. Once Mannone comes back, he's likely to make way anyway. If you're on a W/C this week then it may be best to avoid him as he just isn't a long term option.

Spend £0.5m more and get a keeper that rotates reasonably well with your first choice. No point having £4.0m wasted on the bench.

    Aguero and Tadic to....

    A) Lukaku and Ozil (1.9)
    B) Lukaku and Sanchez (0.4)

At this stage I am leaning towards A based on Ozil's consistency and the fact that the 1.9 makes getting Aguero back in that bit easier (don't have a settled plan here yet).

Looking at % ownership (from fplstats), there are some interesting numbers ahead of this week.
    O_Ozil @ 7.6%
    Benteke @ 3.8%
    Antonio @ 5.5%
    Nolito @ 5.4%
    Zaza @ 0.3%

Lots of these mentioned here on FFS, but low numbers overall

    Off topic(ish)

My youngest son is sixteen years old. Next month he's off on a football match romp around Belgium and France with his school team mixed in with visits to WW1 battlefield tours.

WTF. As a registered old fart who's only school trip was a tour of Chester Zoo I wish to express my utmost and unending jealousy of my own son's upcoming adventure.

    Grrrrr.

I think I may be able to beat your Chester Zoo visit Dr.

1974, school day trip to Butlins in Ayr on the west coast of Scotland – in November. And yes it was raining – hailstones. Their swimming pool was closed, all the rides/outdoor activities were shut because of the hurricane strength winds and our school dinner ladies had made our packed lunch as Butlins restaurant/canteen was shut for renovations.

I don’t think my primary school liked its pupils.

defenders can get you as many points as attackers if not more if they keep a clean sheet..
I know a lot of people are going for a weaker defence to boost there attack but I actually think its worth considering a stronger defence.

    Struggling with this dilemma......

    A) Ibra, Puncheon, Lukaku
    B) Benteke, Antonio, Lukaku

leaving me with either straight swap Ibra to Aguero (Aguero, Lukaku) or swapping Lukaku to Aguero (Aguero, Benteke)

Lukaku & Benteke have great fixtures. Ibra not so much but can you leave him out?

With Feghouli in the mix and Payet still very much world class centrally, who is more nailed:
    A) Antonio
    B) Lanzini

David Sullivan's official comments about Antonio now playing as a winger give me hope, but only so much.

Yeah, and Feghouli missed his pre-season, so I dont expect he will be in contention to start for a while anyhow.

How long do you think Antonio can be a viable option on the wing for WHM?
Payet, Feghouli & Lanzini are all returning from injury.
Töre is there as well, whilst Ayew has a few weeks left on the treatment table.

Payet seems like the only guaranteed fixture in midfield, with the rest battling for 2 spots.

Noble might be a safer bet...

Surely Antonio is safe for now - what more does he have to do? (I'm saying this more in hope, I have no idea really. But it would be counter-intuitive to replace Antonio right now from Bilic's point of view)

Payet can play Lanzini's spot better than him if you ask me (honestly he SHOULD be there with his playstyle)

Ayew was bought to play striker I think

isn't Noble about 70 years old?

29 if you can believe it!
He'll play more minutes than any of those wingers this season and he's got to be on penalties.

      PL goals and assists:
Lanzini - 6 goals and 2 assists in 23 starts and 3 subs
      Antonio - 8 goals 3 assists in 23 starts and 3 subs
Payet - 9 goals and 12 assists in 29 starts and 1 sub

keeping in mind that Antonio played about 700 minutes at RB, he blew Lanzini out of the water.

Even so, that was without Töre & Feghouli who are both predominantly right wingers. He's definitely a rotation risk in my eyes.

Which is best to go with?

    A, B or C.

    A.
    Costa
    Bolasie
    Collins
    Foster (rotate with Heaton)

    B.
    Costa
    Mirallas
    Collins
    Pickford (Bench fodder)

    C.
    Lukaku
    Lamela

What about B, but with Foster instead of Pickford? Not a fan of keeper rotation myself - I'm playing Foster all the time regardless, so the second spot will be occupied by a 4.0.

        Heaton Pickford
        Baines Shaw Collins Evans Amat

        Ibrahimovic Costa Benteke
