As we approached the new season, hopes were high that Dimitri Payet could prove irresistible for our five-man midfields in 2016/17.

Restricted to just 26 minutes over the first three Gameweeks due to injury, Payet has been sold by a massive 589,000+ so far – only Eden Hazard and Riyad Mahrez have been subject to more sales in the centre of the park.

Since returning to the West Ham first XI in Gameweek 4, though, Payet has been quick to rediscover his Fantasy form.

Impressively, the Frenchman has played a part in all five of his side’s goals over that period. Payet provided two assists against both Watford and West Brom before serving up a stunning solo effort at home to Middlesbrough last time out.

With 30 points accrued in his four starts, then, this latest article for members casts an eye over Payet’s recent displays, assessing them against last season’s numbers before checking out the stats over the last four Gameweeks relative to other midfielders.

    Any thoughts on priorities here?

    Pickford
    Bellerin | Holebas | Kone
    Sanchez | Firmino | Sterling | Antonio
    Aguero | Lukaku | Deeney

    Jakupovic | Fletcher | Williams | Amat

    2FT
    £0.0M

I will obviously monitor injuries: Sterling, Aguero and Lukaku.

However, if they are all ok the only priority I can see is Jakupovic?

Antonio could be worth a transfer with West Ham’s form, but they still have cpl, SUN, eve, STK coming up, so that might be a bit immature? He could become Arnautovic potentially.

Not a fan of the keepers, you'll be forced to change soon unless Pickford keeps his place for the full season

      Those injuries should be fine

Wait for Aguero to play this game tonight

Thanks for the feedback.. I suppose Lovren is the exception to your 2 x 4.5's..

LIV fixtures look ok and they actually might keep clean sheets, but worth considering!

Walker is there for the long-term and as such I think he will outscore Vert substantially although he may get rested in a game or two. Mustafi actually seems to at least mirror Kos, if not even beat him for bonus points and attacking attempts

    Grant

    Walker Mustafi Holebas

    Sanchez Sterling Son Walcott Firmino

    Deeney Kun

    Bench: Pickford, Pieters, Diomande, Amat

Could go a rotation between Snoddy and Austin/Callum Wilson instead of Wally + bench fodder Diomande. Better or too much value on the bench then? That would also allow me to have Smith instead of Pieters/cameron

I remember him being a decent player. That £0.1m saving on Robertson could be important.

He's very good, fairly attack-minded. Skinned Ireland in a Euro qualifier a few years ago so sticks in the memory for me.

Anyone else getting second thoughts about Walcott?
Currently in my WC team but just can't help but not trust him.
He's trolled me too often in the past and heard he was rubbish tonight.
With arsenal getting players back from injury and having Sanchez anyway, is he surplus to requirements?
I'm considering Tadic who ive never owned before.

He will play even when Kane returns IMO. He played twice with Kane before he got injured and that was when he scored his 19 point haul whilst Kane got 6.

If you have Sanchez I would argue that you don't need him.
Heard he wasn't great tonight, I've gone for Son because of how good he looked against City. The Walcott temptation was never there for me - untrustworthy.

Maybe a Spurs fan can answer that more - I was sat in the Spurs end but I'm a city fan. He looked superb.
I think son will keep his place and Kane being back could help him with assists. Lamela will probably lose him place - he's pants.

This Ramsay back from injury fallacy again. Ramsay has played most games at double pivot. Currently only real threats to Walcott are Ox and Iwobi. Wenger has talked him up so much pre season and recently

Yep, and this was because there was no room in the pivot for Ramsey due to Cazorla and Coq playing so well. Now there is Xhaka too

Yeah in that formation it could be a support striker. Not really in a 4231 though.

No because to me a support striker is a player who looks to get in behind the defence and attack but does drop a little deeper on defence, like Rooney. This is why to me, a support striker is really a striker in a 442 formation.

The #10 position is completely different, they are creators rather than goal scorers and play 'in the hole' between the opposition defence and midfield.

In many ways, 'attacking mid' is an apt description. I still think its a big vague though. Especially when wide players who cut inside can be described the same way. Perhaps they are 'inside forwards' eg Walcott.

A striker in a 4-4-2 is a striker.. plays alongside another much like Ighalo and Deeney last season for example.. a 4-4-1-1 is one of the strikers dropping and linking the play and supporting the striker to me exactly what a 10 is doing in a 3 behind a lone CF

Yeah I can see that in a 4411 but to me thats a very different formation to a 4231. Might depend if that 10 is facing goal or has his back to goal, is he primarily the creative force, eg Ozil or is he a second striker eg Rooney

My only issue with the term support striker is that to me it sounds like a player who should be scoring goals like a striker. Whereas I see a 10 as more of a creative player who gets assists, like Ozil.

Time to make some moves having stepped out of the game for over a week.

            -----Heaton---Robinson----
            --Shaw--Williams--PvA--Evans--Amat--
            --Sanchez--Sterling--Firmino--Antonio--Hojbjerg
            --Aguero--Lukaku--Rondon

            2 FTs, £0.4m ITB

Thinking Shaw, Evans & Rondon to Walker, Holebas & Wilson?

I'm mindful of my defence becoming too expensive, and Antonio is looking a bit suspect.

I've waited my whole life for this show(huge fan of the movie and michael crichton). Combines 3 of my favorite things in entertainment: Jurassic park, Battlestar Galactica and red dead redemption. Watched the first 2 and as expected i was blown away. Gonna be HBO's next game of Thrones the second ppl get wind of it

I'm one of the few that has Battlestar as an "all time best". GoT is an epic and this, well is has the potential to be every bit as good.

I have full faith in Westworld being amazing. The icing on the cake was hearing a piano version of Radiohead's no surprises in there. It literally has combined everything I've loved and grown up with. The oly problem is waiting a week between episodes 🙁

My take on the Walcott lark.

He is first choice IMO and by a long way ...but....

Of all managers it is Wenger that talks most about overplaying players and "burn out" and it is Wenger who has suffered most by doing so (usually forced on him by injuries).
In the past couple of seasons Wenger has given both of Ozil and Sanchez extra time off, by way of a holiday, during the season so as to recuperate when the chance has afforded.
Walcott is one player that is bang in line for not being overplayed, as is Ramsey.

Does anybody really think he is going to play the same Xl mid week and weekends ?...I don't.

Being first choice is not the same as playing every game.

              Rose or Walker?

I feel like Rose is possibly the better pick (although could well be a coin toss). Walker is more likely to go up in price sooner so does have that on his side...

Certainly one to watch. Playing in defence hasn't helped but Liverpool have had 4 pens (I think) this season. I think its a false dawn, I don't think he can continue on this point haul just from pens alone.

I don't have enough funds to go Walcott or Son. Other option is to go cheaper with Snodgrass.

Snodders is a better shout in my opinion. Played further forward, on pens and corners, more involved in Hulls attack and greater ownership amongst FPL managers. Milner is a differential for sure, but if he does well not many will have him; if Snodders does well, there is a guarantee that there will be managers in your league that have him.

Hull have some very favourable fixtures coming up too.
