A dour Anfield affair offered scant reward for Fantasy Football managers as defences came out on top.

That added up to another ineffective evening for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who played his part in a guarded United performance, resulting in another blank with inevitable Fantasy Premier League sales to follow.

Here’s the final Stock Check of Gameweek 8…

On the Rise

Nathaniel Clyne
Owned by less than 9% of Fantasy Premier League managers, the Liverpool right-back shook off a knee problem to start and play his part in a first clean sheet of the season for the Reds. Clyne claimed the maximum bonus points on offer after winning all four of his attempted tackles.

Priced at 5.5, his stock is somewhat limited by his price point which, in the current landscape, presents a significant obstacle. Dejan Lovren, at 4.9, remains our preferred route into Jurgen Klopp’s rearguard.

With West Brom, Crystal Palace and Watford up next, further defensive returns for Clyne and Lovren could be on the horizon.

David de Gea
A world class save from Philippe Coutinho’s long-range effort kept the scoreline at 0-0 and helped De Gea to only his third save point of the season.

The Spaniard also edged a bonus point as United won their third clean sheet of the campaign – their first since Gameweek 3 as the Spaniard’s 40% ownership fetched belated returns.

Jose Mourinho’s rearguard takes on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in Gameweek 9, followed by an Old Trafford meeting with Burnley and a trip to Swansea City.

In Decline

Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Almost inevitably, Ibrahimovic suffers a further blow as he blanked for the third Gamweek in four and picked up a second successive yellow card.

That’s now just four points in four Gameweeks, during which time his price has dropped from 11.9 to 11.4, with more than 620,000 showing him the exit.

The Swede will dominate the transfers out column again heading into Gameweek 9, with Diego Costa and Romelu Lukaku the major benefactors of the continued fall-out.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Want to double up on one of City or Liverpool attack given their fixtures

Who'd you prefer and why ? (currently own Kun and Firmino)

    A) Sterling

    B) Coutinho

Defo Coutinho for now because City have a really tight and important schedule with rotation nightmares coming up.

Possibly save Austin til after city, Walcott instead of sanchez if you don't have him and then wait?

      1. The Legend Squad
        10 years, 21 days ago

Already got Walcott, so it's either double up on Arsenal or go for Costa. Costa's suspension risk worries me though, so I'm leaning towards A. Going to do it this week, as a saints fan I'm going to tell myself Austin is fixture proof, plus City have been leaking goals!

If we were traders assess the stock of these mids at the moment -

    Hazard
    Chadli
    Walcott
    De Bruyne
    Siggurdsson
    Allen
    Alli
    Nolito
    Tadic

    All hitting nice form.

    1. Hurricane Gilbert
      10 years, 21 days ago

Walcott, KdB, Siggy, Allen and Alli I rate highly

    2. Sharpe Shuffle

      IMO:

      Hazard - Hold
      Chadli - Hold
      Walcott - Buy
      De Bruyne - Hold
      Siggurdsson - Buy
      Allen - Buy
      Alli - Buy/Hold
      Nolito - Sell
      Tadic - Sell

    3. Bazzalona
      10 years, 21 days ago

5m, likes a bonus point, plays in one of the best defences.
Has to stay - no defender gets 6 pts every game

      1. It’s gonna Ben Mee
        10 years, 21 days ago

He's only had 2 CS though (vs the two worst teams in the league).

        1. Bazzalona
          10 years, 21 days ago

I know and I subbed him for one of them!
But I think over the season for his price he'll be one of the top scoring df.
I don't like transferring defenders tbh so unless its absolutely necessary I'd leave it as it is

      2. VS10_
        10 years, 21 days ago

    Any thoughts appreciated,

    Pickford, Jaku
    Walker, Coleman, Holebas, Evans, Amat
    Sanchez, Firmino, Sterling, Antonio, Capoue
    Agüero, Lukaku, Austin

    2ft, 0.1 ITB

    Maybe Capoue -> Allen
    And Evans -> Peters
    Bit dull though!

Find a way to get Walcott in and double up on Arsenal!

  13. PaoloRabbiiiii

Hoping for Sanchez to be rested in the champs league this week, he's soooooo my captain this week

  14. Sharpe Shuffle
    10 years, 21 days ago

The idea that Sterling played wingback doesn't really tell the full story. Looking at the stats, he was more advanced (avg position) on Saturday than in any other game this season and had 49 touches in the final third (against an average of 36 in the last 4). Only one goal attempt not great.

Shame Allen's going up in price tonight. It would be an easier decision to shift Sterling out after seeing how many minutes he gets v Barcelona. I'm assuming he'll play 70+

    1. Sideways Backwards
      10 years, 21 days ago

Sterling is definitely teetering on the threshold of my team at the moment

      1. Sharpe Shuffle
        10 years, 21 days ago

Me too. Trying to convince myself he doesn't deserve to go tonight. I know it's a bandwagon but Joe Allen has the perfect fixture and the form

        1. Sideways Backwards
          10 years, 21 days ago

Gonna give him one more go, Capoue to Allen will be my transfer I think

Is the following worth -4 (can only afford Bellerin if do all 3. If did just A and B then would be Baines to Koscielny.)

    A Sterling to Walcott
    B Baines to Bellerin
    C McAuley to Holebas

    Gives team this week of

    Heaton
    Bellerin Lovren Holebas
    Ozil Firmino Walcott Antonio

  20. Pariße

Would you sell Costa for Austin?
A very hard move to do, but Austin could be fixture proof as a penalty taker, Southampton are not a random team, and Costa isn't stupid. He's free to get a yellow in the next game and he'll be looking for trouble against a point seeking Mourinho's United.

I wouldn't back against Costa scoring tbh.
