A dour Anfield affair offered scant reward for Fantasy Football managers as defences came out on top.

That added up to another ineffective evening for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who played his part in a guarded United performance, resulting in another blank with inevitable Fantasy Premier League sales to follow.

Here’s the final Stock Check of Gameweek 8…

On the Rise

Nathaniel Clyne
Owned by less than 9% of Fantasy Premier League managers, the Liverpool right-back shook off a knee problem to start and play his part in a first clean sheet of the season for the Reds. Clyne claimed the maximum bonus points on offer after winning all four of his attempted tackles.

Priced at 5.5, his stock is somewhat limited by his price point which, in the current landscape, presents a significant obstacle. Dejan Lovren, at 4.9, remains our preferred route into Jurgen Klopp’s rearguard.

With West Brom, Crystal Palace and Watford up next, further defensive returns for Clyne and Lovren could be on the horizon.

David de Gea
A world class save from Philippe Coutinho’s long-range effort kept the scoreline at 0-0 and helped De Gea to only his third save point of the season.

The Spaniard also edged a bonus point as United won their third clean sheet of the campaign – their first since Gameweek 3 as the Spaniard’s 40% ownership fetched belated returns.

Jose Mourinho’s rearguard takes on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in Gameweek 9, followed by an Old Trafford meeting with Burnley and a trip to Swansea City.

In Decline

Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Almost inevitably, Ibrahimovic suffers a further blow as he blanked for the third Gamweek in four and picked up a second successive yellow card.

That’s now just four points in four Gameweeks, during which time his price has dropped from 11.9 to 11.4, with more than 620,000 showing him the exit.

The Swede will dominate the transfers out column again heading into Gameweek 9, with Diego Costa and Romelu Lukaku the major benefactors of the continued fall-out.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Walcott, Son, Allen, Stanislas, Chadli(worse fixtures, though)...all good options.

ye just fixtures i would want him back when fixtrues clear , do you think i should sell ant insted and see how red does? i was thinking sell red this week and then decide ant to son alli or cout the following week , since ant might be pushed back up and it is sunderland. I could use the same tactic and sell ant to alli and then decide who i want to upgrade red to.

Thoughts on KDB next week? Is he a clearly superior option to one of the Liverpool lads or not worth the cash? Worth having Allen as 4th mid to afford KDB?

I think it could be worth a punt and can always be aborted with two transfers, having made some cash.

A pretty straightforward -4 for me this week, have 2 FTs.

    J. Evans, Antonio, Ibra OUT

    Mustafi, Walcott, Costa IN.

Would have 0.0m in bank - have exact cash to make the switch. Any issues with this? (Other than the fact that Antonio will inevitably score at home to Sunderland and Ibra from the spot at Stamford Bridge to ruin my weekend next weekend).

          Mustafi - Amat - Lovren
          Sanchez - Walcott - Firmino - Capoue
          Costa - Lukaku - Aguero

Subs - Jak - Smith - de Roon - MKelly

Subs are miserable and not ecstatic about playing Capoue as a 4th mid but overall Zlatan is too expensive at 11.4m on current form even if he will score at Stamford Bridge.

          Predictions for:

          SWA___V___WAT

          MNC___V___SOT

Currently playing Stones and Deeney with (Amat) benched.
Thinking of playing Amat and selling Deeney for Austin with (Stones) benched.

Swansea defence is awful, I would predict Watford to win that game by 1-2 or something like that.

Clean sheets doesn't look likely for City too, since Saints are on fire

Should I do Lamela -> Walcott if I have Sanchez as well? Enjoyed the price drop for lamela already...

Worth bringing in Theo for Sterling or Coutinho? I could use the extra funds to upgrade Jaku..

          Pickford
          Walker Kos Holebas
          Sanchez Coutinho Sterling Son
          Aguero Lukaku Austin

          Jaku Capoue Amat Evans

Is it worth getting lukaku now on a minus to avoid the price rise and not be able to afford him later

Or play rondon away to Liverpool?

Seems a decent move , just beware of burnleys tight defence at home , taking into account the price rise maybe that outweighs this concern .

I've just bought Lukaku so can't really say no but Liverpool can't defend corners so I'd be tempted to keep and save the 4pts

Not really worth wasting a transfer on that.

I've Heaton and think he's the best keeper to have value wise but if I had Foster I wouldn't be using my precious free transfer to change him. You surely have more pressing concerns?

I have Karius and will look to downgrade when spare FT. Get Grant or Heaton

Cheaper, better fixtures, more central to the attack. IMO

Could've easily walked away with a brace, were it not for Stekelenberg's heroics. That last save from his fierce drive was stunning.

Scary given he was just coming back from injury. Let's not forget there was nobody in the league playing better than him before the hammy went

Really tempted to just go the cheap defence route after my two new premium defenders gave me 2 points between them!

          Grant Pickford
          Koscielny Vertonghen Smith Holebas Amat
          Sanchez Firmino Son Sterling Walcott
          Aguero Deeney Diomande

Will resist the kneejerk this week but really tempted to do Koscielny + Vertonghen + Deeney > Costa + 8.8 for 2 defenders
