There’s plenty at stake in opening fixture of Gameweek 10, with Alexis Sanchez heading into the clash with Sunderland sitting at the summit of our Captain Poll, seemingly backed by thousands to end a run of three outings without a goal.

Sanchez and Arsenal will have to perform without the presence of Theo Walcott and Santi Cazorla, who both miss out through injury – a bitter blow for almost 500,000 managers who jumped on Walcott’s potential over the previous two Gameweeks.

Sunderland sit at the bottom of the table and will inevitably look to Jermain Defoe for goals; he’s blanked in his last three Gameweeks as he bids to breach an Arsenal back four that’s conceded in just one of their last eight matches in all competitions.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

2️2️ passes were played in the build-up to Alexis_Sanchez's opener - the most in the @premierleague this season (via @OptaJoe)

Any one remember that goal Argentina scored which had 24 passes before it in the build-up?

Of course I do! Beautiful. Crespo'a backheel and Cambiasso'a screamer made it all the better!

30 % of top 10k have played their captain in the early game.
      Almost all will be Alexis.

Top 50 saw Lukaku as most popular. Interestingly, only one of the top 50 captained Deeney

True. Still think Lukaku / Aguero can outscore him if it stays like this.

IF it stays like this. It's possible but we get more points for a midfielder scoring (I have the others too), so they will have to score 2.

    3. Godot - Fashanu Zealand
      10 years, 9 days ago

Considering what Aguero did to me in GW8, I would have taken an assist.

Yeah defo. After a few captaincy disasters in a row a goal, clean sheet, and some bonus would be ideal. Any other returns in the second half will be icing on the cake.

    10. devils advocate
      10 years, 9 days ago

Hate to sound greedy, but given this gw has so many good captain options, I think a goal is nice, but quietly expect more from one of the best players in the league against the worst team in the league.

Especially when Arsenal are dominating like they have been.

I'm not going to lie, it was a risky pick purely because of Jose, but imo it could work out great if he plays because he's absolute class and a consistent performer.
