Two Swansea City old boys combine to see off the Welshman in the Potteries, as thousands of Fantasy managers profit from the continued form of a certain “number ten”. Here’s the Stock Check from the final Gameweek 10 fixture…

On the Rise

Joe Allen
Two assists sealed a third double-figure haul in the space of five Gameweeks as Allen’s flourishing form continued.

Buzzing around the hold-up play of Wilfried Bony, the 5.1 Fantasy Premier League option twice teamed up with the Ivorian to see off Swansea City.

Over 130,000 FPL managers brought Allen in ahead of Gameweek 10 to earn instant rewards. Given his current form and output, they will feel that he fully justifies a fourth midfielder role in our squads. Certainly, as a fifth midfielder in a 3-5-2, Allen looks destined to deliver.

However, it should be noted that Stoke City have played the current bottom three clubs in their last three outings. The trip to West Ham United could prove trickier for the Potters and Allen – particularly with Marko Arnautovic and potentially Xherdan Shaqiri both absent.

Wilfried Bony
Finally, after seven Premier League starts, Bony has sparked to life having ended his goal drought against his former club.

Priced at 7.3, it was hoped that the Ivorian could provide a mid-price option on his arrival at the bet365 stadium. That could now be the case, although the output currently being provided by Allen will undoubtedly dampen enthusiasm for Bony as an attacking option.

In Decline

Xherdan Shaqiri
Over 94,000 acquired the Swiss international off the back of his 15-point return at Hull City, only to see the playmaker limp from the field on 26 minutes. There’s no news as yet on the nature of the injury or a prognosis.

Marko Arnautovic
Perched on the suspension tightrope before Monday night’s encounter, the Austrian was unable to navigate the 90 minutes and, having received his fifth booking, will now miss the Gameweek 11 trip to West Ham.

With just a goal and an assist this season, Arnautovic has been a bitter disappoint after his 11-goal campaign last time out.

Stephen Kingsley
Brought back in at left-back for the Swansea City clean sheet against Watford last weekend, Kingsley was tonight inexplicably relegated to the reserves with Neil Taylor earning a recall.

With Jordi Amat ousted to the bench in Gameweek 9, it appears that we no longer have a 4.1 option available in the Swansea rearguard – perhaps that’s no major loss on the evidence of Monday night.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      On my watchlist

Pieters - FFS favorite. Attacking and Stoke are getting better
Evans - Kind fixtures coming. Pulis is Pulis.
Lowton - Good underlying attacking stats. Burnley are also tight at home and they have good fixtures too.

I have seen lots of teams selling Firmino for Hazard.
But my take is Liverpool has been pretty attacking all throughout the 10 Gw
Hazard finding form and Eve Home won't be an easy game compared to Watford H for Liverpool.
I still feel Firmino will outscore Hazard in long term. I am keeping Firmino and Coutinho in my team till anything strange happens

Captaincy is an issue though. At his best Hazard us someone I'm more than happy to captain, particularly at home, whereas Firmino would probably only be my third choice captain pick from that Liverpool midfield atm.

            Maybe a little bit.

But they already played Chelsea, Arsenal and the two Manchester clubs. If you wait/work on getting them from GW 14 add Everton and Pool to that list - although if you buy attacking players I can still see goals. Then 14-25 only classic top 6 clubs in 18 v spurs and 20 v Everton.

But yeah, maybe I got a bit carried away.

This is why I said Austin over Wilson a few weeks ago besides the fact Austin had best 4 week striker stats at the time

I've already got vvd and Austin.. Don't want anyone else yet. Can see vvd being the highest scoring defender from now till january. Boufal/Cedric could be options if I look to triple up

I've had 4 red arrows. The mini wildcard of a -8 is extremely tempting

-8 doesn't sound too bad and it can make a huge difference if you get it right.

I just don't think the changes I plan to make would make a huge difference this weekend. Think I will sit tight and reevaluate post-International break.

Thanks all for the advice above. I think that leaves me with these options this week - any stand out above the rest?

    A) Valencia -> Fuchs/VDV/Stones (and save the other FT)
    B) Valencia & Collins -> Stones & Simpson
    C) Valencia, Antonio & Benteke -> Stones/Morgan, Coutinho & Austin (-4)

It looks like Valencia, Antonio & Benteke will drop soon, and Cout & Austin will rise soon, so there could also be some decent value preservation in C).

    Cech
    Clyne, Valencia, Collins
    Sanchez, Walcott, Firmino, Antonio
    Aguero, Defoe, Benteke

    Pickford, Capoue, Kone, Amat
    Bank 0.0m, 2FT

Cheap, great fixtures, and Stokes improved defence since Grant and Shawcross came into the team.

Justified by his 2 clean sheets and bonus in the last 3.

          Yep you're right on Shawcross.

Sorry, I thought he missed the first few through injury but got him confused with someone else.

I guess fixtures and Grant were the main improvement then. 😉

Thoughts on selling Mata and Antonio -> Hazard and Gundogan?

The one concern about Gundo is that when De Bruyne is fit, we might not get as far forward as he have been. But still good value for money.

Moses + KDB instead? Moses looks nailed and spectacular value while Kdb looks fantastic too. Can see those 2 outscoring haz+gund

Oh wait.. I've forgotten that Kdb and haz are now 0.8 apart 😯 .. I'd still double up with haz + moses instead of gundogan.

Gundo could very well be another Capoue, so I'd want to see a lot more from him before knee-jerking.

It's like some on here are saying Kante is a good option now because of one goal, lol.

Cannot afford Bolasie, whats Moses price? i prefer one Chelsea (Hazard), as i already have Firm and Mane in the middle.

So its either Allen or Gundogan as the other 4th mid

Good to see you back Ruth. 🙂

Legitimate question for you that I've been curious about over the weekend.

    If I may?

Did you take Aguero out of all 3 teams you manage?

    And...

    Are all 3 teams identical?

Thanks in advance and better luck for next gw. 😉

Is it a good move to go Wally > Redmond now?
Or should we await the Europa League, in case of any issues with Redmond. Having lost their last match against Inter, I think Sot'on will try to fight for a win.
Only issue is if Wally drop in price!

    1. devils advocate

      I'd hold.

Walcott apparently fit for CL. If he plays well I doubt he'll drop again, and you may want to hold him anyway.

Latest news saying Wally, Santi and Monreal didn't travel with the team.
So no chance he is starting.
But pretty confident he'll start against Spurs. Prob is I want a Sot'on cover for the Hull match, while ARS fixtures turning blue.

This worries me. Obviously his hammy was a bit worse than first thought, and with Walcott injury history I wonæt be surprised if he's also rested for the weekend. If so, I'll leave him out for a couple of GW's with the hope to get him back at no loss

        2. devils advocate
          • 11 Years

          I stand corrected.

Sorry, thought I read somewhere he'll play.

In that case, if you think Redmond will score more points than Wally this gw then go for it.

Redmond most likely won't rise again soon, so just monitor Wally's price and hit the transfer before any drop if funds are an issue. Risky before the EL match but sometimes you just have to do it.

          Good luck. 😉
