Chelsea’s five-star performance at the Bridge leads to the promotion of a cast of Antonio Conte’s talent. Meanwhile, Sunderland’s twin strikers earn recognition, while Pep Guardiola’s decision to rest Raheem Sterling snaps the final straw for many of his Fantasy Premier League owners.

On the Rise

Eden Hazard
The Belgian produced one of the finest individual performances of the season, wandering free in the Chelsea attack and tormenting the Everton defence.

His 19-point Fantasy Premier League return was his biggest haul of a campaign that has already delivered double-figures on four occasions, including seven goals and four sets of maximum bonus.

As mentioned in last night’s Knee Jerk, we’re struggling to apply a downside to Hazard at this present time.

The forthcoming fixtures may well be tough, but his form appears strong enough to overcome that – defences just don’t appear to have the answer to Hazard within Antonio Conte’s new system.

Another FPL price rise arrived overnight, two more are a possibility prior to the Gameweek 12 trip to Middlesbrough as his 24.3% ownership soars.

Diego Costa
The Spaniard continued his own ascent, contributing a goal and an assist to Chelsea 5-0 victory.

Costa has now returned in nine of eleven Gameweeks, taking him to the top of the FPL forward rankings and second to Hazard in the overall standings with 70 points.

While Hazard has established near essential status, Costa, despite his achievements, continues to compete with Romelu Lukaku and Sergio Aguero for a slot up front as we ponder the five-man midfield.

Now owned by 40% of FPL managers, Hazard’s rise could dent his appeal, although there are obvious merits in doubling on Chelsea’s attack given their irresistible form.

Certainly, Aguero and Lukaku will be required to keep pace with Costa to ensure that their ownership is preserved – the Everton striker is already suffering losses following Saturday’s blank.

Marcos Alonso
The other major benefactor from Chelsea’s incredible Stamford Bridge display.

Alonso fired his first Chelsea goal in just his fifth Premier League start, having delivered an assist back in Gameweek 9.

While Cesar Azpilicueta has been the bonus point system darling during Chelsea’s run of five successive clean sheets, Alonso is a forward-thinking asset and arguably more secure.

Conte’s options at left wing-back look limited, with Alonso perhaps the least likely Chelsea FPL defender to suffer rest and rotation over the Christmas period.

Like Hazard, he picked up a price rise overnight as the second most popular transfer target ahead of Gameweek 12.

Pedro & Nemanja Matic
While that trio stole the headlines and will likely dominate the plans of Fantasy managers over the international break, both Pedro and Matic warrant our attention.

The pair have been revelations over the last five Gameweeks, with Pedro holding off the claims of Willian for a start on the right. Four assists and two goals in his last four Gameweeks underline his current form, promoting his application as a 7.1 candidate to provide back-up to Hazard and Costa as attacking options.

Matic offers a less profitable solution in the budget price bracket. Incredibly, the Serb has now returned six assists for the season – second only to Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne.

Jermain Defoe
The Sunderland striker continues to stand out as the top third forward option, having returned a second double-figure return at Bournemouth.

With six goals and an assist, Defoe has now contributed to 77% of Sunderland’s goals and faces up to Hull City at the Stadium of Light next, ensuring that he’s in the mix for the Gameweek 12 captaincy.

Victor Anichebe
Defore was joined up front at Bournemouth by the significant presence of Victor Anichebe, as David Moyes turned to a twin strike force to transform Sunderland’s fortunes.

The decision paid off handsomely, with Anichebe matching Defoe’s goal and assist returns to promote himself as a potential 4.5 striker option.

However, Anichebe played the second half with a cracked rib and must be considered a doubt for the visit of Hull in Gameweek 12.

Sam Vokes
The Burnley striker is another budget option on the rise. Priced at 6.1, Vokes has now provided three goals and an assist in his last four Gameweeks.

He appears to have edged ahead of Andre Gray as Sean Dyche’s striker in the 4-5-1 system and will likely assume spot-kick duties while Gray remains benched.

In Decline

Raheem Sterling
Having suffered four consecutive blanks, Sterling required a convincing performance with returns in Gameweek 11. Instead, he was rested by Pep Guardiola against Middlesbrough, ensuring continuing FPL sales and a further price drop.

Sterling would seem highly likely to start at Crystal Palace in Gameweek 12, although, having hit a drought and with the threat of rotation over the busy Christmas spell, his stock has been dented with a cast of alternative midfield options overtaking the City man.

Adam Smith
Despite returning a third assist of the season for Bournemouth’s goal in the defeat to Sunderland, Smith also earned his fifth booking and will now miss Gameweek 12.

With encounters with Arsenal and Liverpool to follow, it’s fair to say that Smith’s prospects have dipped dramatically, with an ownership and price drop over the break now on the cards.

Joe Allen
While the Welshman’s blank at West Ham is hardly cause for concern, the fact that he picked up a fourth booking of the season now leaves him teetering on the suspension tightrope.

That’s fine for those who rely on him as a fifth midfield option but a possible issue for those who acquired him to fill the fourth slot.

With Watford and Burnley to follow the Gameweek 12 clash with Bournemouth, Allen’s owners will be willing him to steer clear of cards until Stoke City’s fixtures stiffen.

Dimitri Payet
Robbed of points following the decision to award West Ham’s strike as a Glenn Whelan own goal, Payet has now returned just a single assist in his last four Gameweeks.

That’s a worrying trend given his forthcoming fixtures.

Payet and the Hammers face Spurs, Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool over the next four Gameweeks, in a spell which could see them slip back into the relegation mire, with Payet drifting towards temporary obscurity as a Fantasy asset.

Andre Gray
Relegated to the bench against Crystal Palace having been handed a starting role on his return from suspension at Old Trafford, Gray is now ruled out of our thinking as a third striker option.

As mentioned, Vokes is now seemingly Dyche’s preferred lead striker, leaving Gray limited to appearances in a 4-4-2.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Knee Jerkers - how are we feeling now we've slept on last night's transfers?

I'm strangely calm - just hoping for a Walcott appearance and a promising display. Sanchez can go mad today on his bow from my squad - I don't think I'm going to regret the move.

Yeah, I'm just worried that at Xmas, I'll need the funds in defence. Losing Sanchez gave me a better spread of funds and more flexibility. Defoe may get downgraded once Hull has passed but he's served me so well and may rise again.

I understand why you sold Sanchez and what your saying about spreading the funds to strengthen elsewhere and those moves balancing the books points wise , but sticking to that theory why not sell Aguero and do the same plus 2 mil ? Surely Aguero won't outscore Sanchez enough to justify the price difference? Just curious why choose Sanchez over kun

This. What if Sanchez scores today? Kun is looking more and more like the one to make way as I posted below. i don't trust Pep anymore. He thinks he will get away with benching his best players and it is backfiring. Kun delivered us some tranquilizer with his brace and assist against WBA.

Yep, I did consider it but City's fixtures made me nervous - it would mean doubling on Chelsea's attack and going without City altogether. I can still explore that later by shifting Aguero to Costa and upgrading one of the Liverpool mids once their plum fixtures pass.

As a Costa owner already, I'm slightly regretting Sanchez - Hazard.

Price swayed it for me and the option of cheaper points scorers from Arsenal. Hoping to do Redmond - Walcott if the latter can prove himself to be somewhere near nailed on. If not I'll probably get Ozil.

Did Gundo and Rashford to Haz and Anichebe (exact funds) Satisfied with the jerk, and happy that I managed to keep Sanchez, but annoyed I didn't do the transition to 3-5-2 a few days earlier. Transferring Gundo after 96 hours in my squad might haunt me, but I really didn't like that he was taken out by Pep after 70-ish mins....

hate international breaks with key players going halfway round the world etc.
Normal GW then early transfers are less stressful.
Will wait for today's games to finish before making transfer decisions. Big Kane return, Wally benching, Liverpool injuries, Arsenal defensive fail could all affect options.

    Heaton Foster
    McAuley Williams Mustafi Pieters Amat
    Coutinho Firmino Sanchez Redmond Allen
    Lukaku Aguero Defoe

    2 FTs, 0.0 ITB

Currently exploring these options over the international break
    A) Mustafi, Redmond, Defoe --> Friend, Hazard, Anichebe (-4)
    B) Firmino/Coutinho, Redmond --> Hazard, De Roon
    C) Mustafi --> Alonso
    D) Sanchez --> Hazard
    E) Both of C and D (keeping in mind that I would have no Arsenal players)
Or any other options yall feel is better.

Personally I feel these options are a little bit knee jerky but its really getting hard to ignore Chelsea with their current form. I would obviously look to do my transfers later in the international break as much as possible but I want to know what do yall think is the best option for now.

If Hazard is "essential" how are people affording him? For me it means either losing Sanchez (the easy move, but he's playing up front for one of the best teams!) or else downgrading one player and upgrading another - but all of those are good players as well!

See above, I've gone without Sanchez. Gambling on Walcott helping bridge the gap but I think the funds I can spend on getting the Coutinho/Firmino double act, plus Alonso in defence, will mean I can hopefully cover the Sanchez returns.

    A. Sterling and Koscielny to Hazard and Cedric

    B. Sterling and Sanchez to Hazard and Walcott (+a lot of cash ITB to upgrade Defoe later to Lukaku/Giroud)

    C. Sterling to Walcott later (if Walcott fit today and plays well)

After a -4 this week already team looks like this:

    Jak / Foster
    Lovren, Alonso, Smith, Amat, Love
    Hazard, Sanch, Cout, Firm, Allen
    Aguero, Luk, Anichebe

So my question is, I have to transfer out A.Smith and take another -4.

    Do I:

    - buy Brunt or Morgan but have no defensive bench cover, presuming Amat and Love continue to not play.

    - Or do I buy Evans and another 4.5 def to ensure that I have cover.

Tempted by the first option but having nothing on the bench will no doubt come back to bite me!!

No Aguero HAS to be viable this season. Sure he's still the most likely to get a 20pter any given week BUT

    1) Hazard was Ronaldo-esque last night
    2) Sanchez oop for title chasing Arsenal
    3) KDB seems as important for city as kun
    4)Liverpool mids full of goals
    5)Lukaku and Costa both performing

So many explosive expensive captain options performing that the extra funds that no kun provides could be vital.
The key difference between this and previous "no kun" debates is that even when kun gets his inevitable 16pt+ haul there's more than half a chance that so will one of the above.
Last season the debate was comical because Leicester and Alli meant there was no where to spend the money, seasons before could have kun and saurez and hazard all in same team.
    This the season everyone

i could make so many more points
      1) Cant remember a league as competeive as this in terms of all the big teams looking good
      2) Iheanacho is a year older and more experienced, pep will trust him if needs to
3)Kun defo chasing back more, this has to affect his output

You are forgetting Kane. From GW14 Spurs have a nice run and they have a decent Xmas schedule too. Kane looks like my likeliest destination for the Aguero slot, just hoping Zlatan gets some goals and no cards between now and then. 😕

shows how power packed this season is that kane and payet not getting remembered albeit kane been injured, just hard to see him being as prolific as the others, spurs seem solid rather than spectacular

Maybe, he scored plenty in the same team last season.

I think CL has been a strain on Spurs, it is a big demand they aren't used to and Kane missing won't have helped at all. By GW14 the CL is almost out of the way. I'm pretty sure I will want Kane or Alli around then.

Might also look at the Chelsea triple when Costa has his suspension out of the way. He seems on his best behaviour now, though.

Once again Guardiola's arrogance hurts us FPL managers. He rested Sterling even though he was taken off early in the Barca game and has international break next and the decision backfired. Why rest him now is beyond me. Seems to me only KDB is immune to rotation. Even Aguero can be rotated as we have seen and City have a good replacement in Ihenachio. With an easy game after international break for City and a very important CL game midweek away to Mönchengladbach, there is a probability Kun doesn't start against Palace. Maybe Aguero is too much a hassle to own. We seem to think he is essential because we see City as the most attacking team in the league but that has changed. Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal are the most free scoring teams now and their heavy hitters are outscoring Aguero by quite a margin and for less money. I will be very tempted to ditch Kun if Coutino/Firmino and Sanchez both deliver today. Pep is not to be trusted.

Does it matter? In FPL, mids get CS points and an extra point for goal. I can see that very often for Hazard and Sanchez. Also Kun is behind KDB in baps.

Sanchez and Hazard disagree. It scares me to think what Hazard would do when he starts scoring penalties too. He is scoring all from open play so far. He will easily score 15+ goals this season and exceed his 2014-2015 point tally.
