“All this taking hits, it gets a bit moreish.”

One of my favourite all-time quotes from the ScoutCast arrives in this week’s episode, as Jonty does his best to explain another abject Gamework return.

Struggling with misfortune and misfiring moves, our former resident “dullard” is now resigned to chasing memories from his season – those maverick move successes he can store and take with him for future campaigns.

There’s nothing maverick about my season right now, as I furiously back-peddle on my exit plans and watch Andy and Jonty jump and fall into the no-Aguero abyss without me. Granville tries to talk me over the edge, but I’m not budging.

Elsewhere in this week’s episode, we tackle the Philippe Coutinho injury fall-out head-on, chase our tails on “essential” assets and attempt to settle the Walcott vs Sanchez and Hazard vs Pedro arguments.

This episode of the ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I am in a bit of a problem, who to bench:

    Hazard-KDB-Allen-Siggy-Firmino
    Kun-Costa-Anichebe

Obvious choices are either Allen, Siggy or Anichibe however I am not confortable benching either of them:

Allen - great fixture + he may be back in no 10 role
Anichebe - he is in relatively good form, was a bit dangerous against LIV + Leicester is not good defensively
Siggy - Fantastic form, he is on everything attacking wise, just cannot bench him

    I am thinking about Firmino...

    Any suggestions?

Palace are woeful and Can has been piling forward a lot recently, if you look at his stats they're great and he passes the eye test too.

      Go Can.

    Am I gtg fellas. This team cost me a -8 & 0.6itb.

    Foster
    Alonso, Cedric, Pieters
    Hazard, Firmino, Phillips, Allen
    Aguero, Kane (c), Costa

    Jaku, Siggy, Holebas, Amat

I'm happy playing Phillips & Allen over Siggy. Really want Sanchez but the only way would be to downgrade one of my front three & upgrade Phillips/Allen. The only way I can see this is injuries to one of my forwards.

    Thanks.

your frontline is great but I think Austin or Defoe gives better value as a 3rd striker and helps you distribute funds to make your team even better and get Sanchez

      1. white lightning
        • 12 Years
        9 years, 6 days ago

I agree. That's why I mentioned the injury bit because if Kane fires then out of the 3 of Aguero, Costa & Kane based on form & value for money then Aguero would be the 1 to sell. In other words I wouldn't have a clue which one to sell haha.

      2. Stokelona

Sanchez would only be in place of Hazard or Firmino though, maybe he is more confident that both of them can cover for Sanchez, than a mid priced striker can cover for any of his front 3.
Unless you change system and go 3-5-2 with Anichebe.

Isn't Siggy kind of fixture proof?

      1. white lightning
        • 12 Years
        9 years, 6 days ago

Yeah it's a tough call but both Allen & Phillips have home games & both have a great chance for points. I know Siggy is fixture proof but I think with Toby probably back then a Siggy shut out is possible.

It's my first year doing FPL currently sitting in 701 points, was just wondering does everyone wait til Double GW to use triple captain and bench boost? If so when are those game weeks this year so I can keep an eye out for it, cheers

Yeah probably the best time to use them......normally from about GW30 onwards (32 & 34 last year?), unless there's SNOW 😮

It's my first season playing properly too. Are DGWs hit central as people scramble to get maximum points. And does it pay off to try and keep your wildcard back to around GW30 so you don't have to take those hits?

      1. Jafooli
        • 13 Years

Yes & yes....play WC either week before or week after a DGW (using TC or BB) .

But hits can also be very fruitful....

Depends, if it's a long term move and you have other transfers to make next GW. I got Alonso in for a hit this week to avoid price rise as I want him for GW15 onwards and am making other moves next week. Watford do have some decent fixtures but I can see Walker outscoring Holebas over the next 4 certainly.

    BIG benching problem:

    Heaton
    Lovren - Alonso - Pieters
    Sanchez - Firmino - Allen - Hazard - Siggy
    Kun - Tekkers

    Robinson - Anichebe - Evans - Holebas

    Who would you bench?

I can hopefully clear up the Mcauley thing

I "think" Pulis means he needs Mcauley tested because he is an absolute beast rather than an injury, he's quick near approaching 40 and putting in performances of guys half his age

Hello friends, hoping you can help me with some life problems.

    Allen, Capoue, Hazard, Firmino, Coutinho
    Austin, Costa, Aguero

I really want to get Sanchez in my team this week as Westham are looking poor, however struggling with funds (1.9 itb)

    I was thinking

    A) Austin & Coutinho for Anichebe and Sanchez
    B) Hazard and Continho for Sanchez and Siggy
    C) Hazard and Continho for Sanchez and Walcott

I was leaning on B, because Chelsea have a hard fixture against City and don't really want to get rid of Austin as I think he could have a good week.

    Any other suggestions welcome!

Fair enough, perhaps he just does well for fun.

I'd much rather have his rank history than mine that's for sure 🙂

                      Pretty sure yeah.

We don't even know how long he spends on the game....but we do spend a lot of our own time talking to him while perusing a site for most of the day about fantasy football.

Yeah, I'm sure he's got to be a big success in whatever he does for a living. Consistency like that doesn't just fall from the sky. He has to be hell of a dedicated and strict to not take any hits.

Wonder if he also someday's feels like just breaking out and trying something different to try and win the thing. In many ways he's also just plotting along. Obviously getting great ranks, but maybe he also feels unhappy.

All I want to know is if TM lied when he said he knew who it was and that the person sometimes posts on here under another name...?

It would certainly be interesting to hear from the horses mouth

Not sure if TM really knows, he says he does but won't tell me who it is.

He's a bit like Banksy around here 🙂

I think he does take hits at times though? Did a -12 or something to get his team fixed a season or two ago from memory.

    Klopp on Lallana and Firmho:

I'm happy about each player back in training and Adam was training on Thursday, his first session," says Klopp. "We need to see how he reacts to intensity of training but all good.

Roberto trained yesterday too. It is painful but not that serious. He is quite a tough guy."

Depends if we get an indication of where Allen is playing. If he's in #10 role, I'd choose him.

If it's unclear, go with Anichebe

Whelan and Imbulla deep. Allen goes back to no 10. Easiest game in the season- Allen wins.

Looking to buy a Spurs defender, we thinking Walker or Alderweireld?

It's not the end of the world for me if Alder doesn't end up playing this weekend as I have Holebas subbing in, so I'm thinking who would be the better pick long term.

    1. Differentiator
      • 10 Years

wait a week on Alder. Might get a price drop out of him. I actually prefer Rose long-term. Supremely attacking, might as well be a full back.

Rose seems to be more prone to rotation than would be ideal though.
