It was always going to be a big ask.

With 37 points in his previous two Gameweeks, Alexis Sanchez had constructed a culture of fear amongst his non-owners, urging more than 380,000 to doubtless spend transfer points to move swiftly and capture his services.

Such explosive returns built expectation and paranoia in equal measure. It was a risk to overlook Sanchez and, having been burned by sacrificing his services after Gameweek 11, I was not in the frame of mind to gamble again.

I was not alone.

Sanchez topped our captain poll and was duly skippered by 17.3% of managers today – just 11,000 shy of Chelsea’s Diego Costa who proved the most popular pick of Gameweek 15.

Of course, we could have perhaps anticipated a significant regression in his output.

Stoke City arrived in north London having conceded just three goals in their previous seven Premier League outings. The underlying statistics backed them to frustrate the Gunners and perhaps stifle the threat of Sanchez.

To an extent they succeeded, although eventually the Potters caved in to goals from Arsenal’s other midfield threats – Mesut Ozil and Theo Walcott.

That offered a reminder of Arsenal’s attacking promise and that, while Sanchez clearly has to be considered as the key force, neither Ozil nor Walcott can be totally overlooked.

The latter, in particular, continues to produce numbers that outperform his initial 7.5 price tag, or even his current 8.0 valuation.

Walcott still boasts more shots in the box and shots on target than Sanchez. We may suffer the frustration of rotation on occasions, but, barring Swansea City’s Gylfi Sigurdsson, it’s difficult to find a midfielder in his bracket that can compete with the potential suggested by such numbers.

Sanchez is convincing, but we shouldn’t be blinkered to the promise elsewhere in Arsene Wenger’s midfield.

Appearing dejected when withdrawn by Wenger – Sanchez is currently showing real hunger and ambition in his play. For now, we will take the assist for Alex Iwobi’s third goal and look to Wednesday night’s visit to Goodison for a bigger return.

Tomorrow, the aforementioned Costa, along with Eden Hazard, backed by 17.5% and 9.4% with the armband respectively, will attempt to deal damage to the stubborn West Brom defence.

Significantly outscore Sanchez and it will create further doubt on the Gameweek 16 armband, with Chelsea at Sunderland and Spurs and Harry Kane welcoming Hull City to White Hart Lane.

Sanchez is just one key player embroiled in a fascinating phase of our season. The merry-go-round of in-form heavy-hitters took a major twist with the Sanchez Gameweek 14 haul.

Overlook him as our captain or, worse still, in our squads, and we will always live in fear of a repeat. Today’s modest return doesn’t change that: Sanchez can explode points at any time, perhaps against any opposition.

But it remains to be seen if the confidence in the Chilean as a captain remains strong should his big rivals deliver on Sunday.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Do we not tink Bradley will play Llorente frm now on?. That's twice he scored a brace.
4 in 3 games and only 25minutes two games ago when he got a brace.
What more does he have to do to start each game??

Some games he may not be as well suited because he's a relatively one dimensional player, but generally he will get a lot of minutes

    Courtois Grant

    Costa Origi Anichebe

      Quite unusual team..
      Midfield looks very good anyway.
      (Maybe too much invested here).

      Alli- Eriksen??
Origi + Anichebe together up front seems a bit light but it is obviously a tactic.

I guess you are planning 3-5-2.
      Seems interesting..

What would u likely do next here..
I know there are important games later but I want to have some ideas.
Won't have much time between the games finishing and any price rises tomm due to time zones and work etc.

    Pedro- Eriksen is an option.
Changing Nacho too already although he does have a nice fixture.
    Anything else..?

    Heaton.
    Lovren, Walker, Cedric.
    Pedro, Sanchez, Firmino, Siggy.
    Costa, Kane, Nacho.
    Pickford, Holebas, Amat, Whelan.

    1ft, 1.2m in account.

      Not sure about Firmino..
Think he could still do better than Eriksen over the next month or so at least.

Carroll as we all know is a real unknown!
Many were burned by him last season. Not sure Ive seen anything yet to think the same wont happen again.

Thats a lot. But it is a funny game and can swing a lot with one result. Last season in the FIFFSA we won a match where we needed Kane to score and get 3 BAPS. There he was one bps behind someone else at the final whistle but eventually it was settled on him getting the 3 points, without that we would never have got out of teh group stage and eventually made the semis.

Hey TM. I have a tough match in Sportsdeck and I would say it looks like I am going to lose it. I need captain Costa to significantly outscore my opponents Captain Hazard. Not impossible but I would so much rather have a few more points in the bag

It's funny, I sold Zlatan for Vardy at just the wrong time then this week I sold Vardy for Iheanacho.

I just cannot get a sensible 3rd forward

Well done Swan. He could easily be golden. You would certainly like to think he would have a good chance of outscoring Sanchez's effort today.

All night ive been thinking I only had three players left, Kane, Haz and Firm.

I've just realised I have Costa too. It's like finding a Chomp in your coat pocket you forgot you bought.

I can still afford to makes these transfers after tomorrows games

It will be for a -4 point hit as I have 2 free transfers

    Out~~~~~~~~~~~~ In~~~~~~
    Walcott~~~~~~~~~~Eriksen
    Austin~~~~~~~~~~~Llorente
    Jakupovic~~~~~~~~Courtois

The main decision is obviously walcott out for eriksen for a hit.
Spurs have hull next and aresnals next two fixtures are not great.

    Is it worth it?

I already lost .1 on walcott as I thought he might not drop to give me a chance to decide with more leeway.

man city is a nice fixture for arsenal attacking assets imo... maybe just Austin out for Llorente, but even then , I'd wait on Austin's fitness status for away at the britannia

Yeah I thought of that maybe Pep is "the Spanish Kevin Keegan" and will just let his defenders run all over the place.

I suppose wait and see is the safest option

I'm keeping Theo for now. Looking more likely with Bellerin back, Everton and Man City defenses not looking fearsome at the moment, and a nice long patch of smooth sailing after that.

similar to my dilemma I want eriksen in walcott out.

Wait until you see how spurs play tomorrow and if they look good it will be an easy decision.

Cheers. Yep but I think Theo can easily score in the next two. His stats are great and with Bellerin back he should thrive again. Firmino out if anyone. Will see how tomorrow goes

    Good morning from Australia managers.

Went to bed last night with Leicester up 3-0 to wake to a Vardy hatrick. Leicester have some nice fixtures coming up ; )

Im torn if I should hold a trade or use it.

I am .1 off going Snodgrass to Erikson.

    Any suggestions?

    Heaton
    Alonso / Mcauley / Cedric
    Hazard / Firmino / Sigurdsson / Snodgrass
    Kane / Costa / Defoe

Pickford / De Roon / Pieters / Friend

I would save it in that case cos there is no point in getting another player for the sake of it.

although son is an option if you really have your heart set on spurs.

I want to do Mustafi to Alonso for tomorrows game in Sky where you can make changes between gameweeks. He saves me a million is better isn't injured.

I work nights and would ordinarily be asleep at that time. I could set an alarm and wake up and check the lineups but I would much rather sleep through.

It's safe enough to make the transfer isn't it? But my instict says do the safe thing and make sure he is playing first

I am 496 OR in that game so I don't want to screw it up

No reason at all. It's just the fact in Sky you have up to the kick off to make your change of the first match. So ideally you see lineups and make your changes then just to be on the safe side
