It was always going to be a big ask.

With 37 points in his previous two Gameweeks, Alexis Sanchez had constructed a culture of fear amongst his non-owners, urging more than 380,000 to doubtless spend transfer points to move swiftly and capture his services.

Such explosive returns built expectation and paranoia in equal measure. It was a risk to overlook Sanchez and, having been burned by sacrificing his services after Gameweek 11, I was not in the frame of mind to gamble again.

I was not alone.

Sanchez topped our captain poll and was duly skippered by 17.3% of managers today – just 11,000 shy of Chelsea’s Diego Costa who proved the most popular pick of Gameweek 15.

Of course, we could have perhaps anticipated a significant regression in his output.

Stoke City arrived in north London having conceded just three goals in their previous seven Premier League outings. The underlying statistics backed them to frustrate the Gunners and perhaps stifle the threat of Sanchez.

To an extent they succeeded, although eventually the Potters caved in to goals from Arsenal’s other midfield threats – Mesut Ozil and Theo Walcott.

That offered a reminder of Arsenal’s attacking promise and that, while Sanchez clearly has to be considered as the key force, neither Ozil nor Walcott can be totally overlooked.

The latter, in particular, continues to produce numbers that outperform his initial 7.5 price tag, or even his current 8.0 valuation.

Walcott still boasts more shots in the box and shots on target than Sanchez. We may suffer the frustration of rotation on occasions, but, barring Swansea City’s Gylfi Sigurdsson, it’s difficult to find a midfielder in his bracket that can compete with the potential suggested by such numbers.

Sanchez is convincing, but we shouldn’t be blinkered to the promise elsewhere in Arsene Wenger’s midfield.

Appearing dejected when withdrawn by Wenger – Sanchez is currently showing real hunger and ambition in his play. For now, we will take the assist for Alex Iwobi’s third goal and look to Wednesday night’s visit to Goodison for a bigger return.

Tomorrow, the aforementioned Costa, along with Eden Hazard, backed by 17.5% and 9.4% with the armband respectively, will attempt to deal damage to the stubborn West Brom defence.

Significantly outscore Sanchez and it will create further doubt on the Gameweek 16 armband, with Chelsea at Sunderland and Spurs and Harry Kane welcoming Hull City to White Hart Lane.

Sanchez is just one key player embroiled in a fascinating phase of our season. The merry-go-round of in-form heavy-hitters took a major twist with the Sanchez Gameweek 14 haul.

Overlook him as our captain or, worse still, in our squads, and we will always live in fear of a repeat. Today’s modest return doesn’t change that: Sanchez can explode points at any time, perhaps against any opposition.

But it remains to be seen if the confidence in the Chilean as a captain remains strong should his big rivals deliver on Sunday.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

A lot of people already sold him before his goal, so he was due a drop. His stock is rising aws. Same with Iheanacho, a lot of people got him in before his 4 touches, so he was due a rise.

Realise I'm late to this but how disappointing that Walcott dropped in price after recovering from -100 to -95 on fplstatistics on the back of his goal. I waited as I wanted to see Eriksen get through the United game unscathed before making the transfer. Might have to keep Theo now. He did look much more of a threat v Stoke than he's looked over the last few

I've gone a bit mad and got Rose, Alonso, Koscielny with Brunt/Holebas playing a 433 at the expense of Hazard. Make or break time!

I've got Alonso and Koscienly and seriously thinking of adding Toby/Rose to that before turning Koscienly into Bellerin.

Just can't see any other way of separating yourself from this template that everyone has fallen into.

Yeah, with Arsenal Chelsea and Spurs' upcoming games, a few clean sheets and maybe some attacking returns are a good possibility. Still worried, but I've been doing pretty well playing 433 all season, just splashing more cash on defence this week.

Just saw plenty of posts previous pages that some people suggesting Pep took Iheanacho off because of Watford game

I highly doubt it, it was 56th min he took him off and gone back to his favorite midfielders all around tactics, which seem to worked abbot better.

Pep is a midfielder whore and I'm concern as a Iheanacho owner.

Possibly, but when you're 3 nil down with 30 mins to go, have only one striker available until Jan and have three games in a week you could understand a bit of squad management.

I'm sure if Aguero was playing he would have been hooked too as they wasn't turning that around.

I have to disagree with you. When you're 3-0 down you don't take your striker around 56th min. 70 odd min then I could've agreed with you.

Leicester were playing too well and were first to everything, Pep knew that they wasn't turning it around, did anyone on here think they were getting back into it?

Had that been a CL semi final than I'd take your point, all that was on the line was 3 points and they were long gone, time to think about the next game when they are coming thick and fast.

Just be thankful that it's only your 6.7m striker you're stressing about and not your 13m striker.

That's one way to look at it. Since I play 3-4-3 striker spots are diamonds for me. And 3rd striker spot is crucial difference since most have Kane and Costa.

Overall, I understand your point. Essentially, I just don't trust Pep and feel I made a wrong decision to buy Iheanacho, especially for a hit.

the whole set up of the whole team was wrong from the start.
Pep needs to look carefully at how many changes he is making and the quality of his current personnel
Nolito and KDB should have started centrally and I'd have had Yaya in midfield-zabaleta offered nothing.
On top of this Nacho could have worked on something

Benteke's upcoming fixtures look awful and defoe seems to be unable to score away. Tough fixtures looming for him too. Not much good 3rd choice striker option...

Leicester are not that good to pay almost 10 mil for a striker. They get penalties of course, but you ll have to lose one of Hazard or Sanchez (or Kane) to fund Vardy, so he ll have to score almost every week and most defences are better than MCI's

Yeah. I try to fit him in my WC team. I want to build a team with Hazard, Costa, Sanchez, Zlatan, Siggy, Kane, Alonso, Brunt. Majority of them capable of netting consistent points week in week out.

I think this is an awesome team, something I am aiming for. Strong front 3 is going to score you so many points. Essentially 5 premium options with the best -7.5 in Siggy and can rotate the 4th mid spot. Defence needs a little clean out but really strong overall.

Feel like I need Kane and or Erik send for the next 2. Any ideas how? Kaka out?

One of the Liverpool lads out if you're set on it. But that's a good team, Lukaku showing he's still got it.

Apologies, I'm sure this has been discussed earlier but wasn't Sanchez tackled for his 'assist'? I thought last touch off stoke defender.

Nah, last touch was Sanchez's. Stoke's defender didn't touch the ball

I think he will, but you can never guarantee it.

Spurs just finding some rhythm and I think Poch will be less likely to rotate for a bit. Davies and Trippier will always get the odd game though.

Don't like Wilson. Llorente / Carroll look better options - mainly because they will be the only players (except for Siggy) that will score for their clubs. Bournemouth score goals from everywhere.

    Whats best?
    A) Alonso + Capoue/diomande rotation
    B) Pieters + Origi/Carroll/other 7.1

      A. But you will probably just play Capoue.
      B. Options. Origi is not nailed and Carrol could get injured before the game today (I say that as an owner who punted to get him in)

Good morning folks, I have few questions for u:

    1. is it a good idea to bring ake as my 4th def?? ( Alonso Rose Holebas and amat are my other 4 def)
    2. Is it a good idea to dump mane or firmino this gw to get either eriksen/alli/payet/antonio/martial? (WestHam & MANU have favorable run of fixtures)
    3. If u are asked to bring 2 players from ManU and WestHam, who will be ur picks??

      1) Look at Gabriel given Mustafi's injury - but give it a couple of weeks.
      2) No IMO - but a difficult one
      3) 2 of Mkitharyan, Ibra, Payet, Carroll
