Two fine goals in extra time hand Leicester City a much-needed confidence boost as the FA Cup fourth round finally draws to a close, along with a seemingly inevitable blank for both the Foxes and their Gameweek 28 opponents Arsenal.

Leicester 3 Derby 1

Leicester scored and won at home for the first time in 2017 on a long night of contrasts in their FA Cup fourth round replay.

Claudio Ranieri made 10 changes to the side that lost to Manchester United – only Ahmed Musa kept his place – but such has been the Foxes’ awful start to the year that the team was not so much weakened as remodelled by the Italian.

And at least one player, man of the match Demarai Gray, made a strong case for a continued run in the side.

After a first half of almost exquisite tedium, the tie came alive when Andy King put the home side ahead from a Marc Albrighton assist.

Derby equalised from a deflected free-kick to force extra time before Wilfred Ndidi took substitute Riyad Mahrez’s pass in his stride and lashed a shot in off the post for his first goal for the Foxes.

And Gray put the tie to bed with a fine individual goal six minutes from the end.

The winger has started two of Leicester’s last three league matches and, at 4.8 and with just 0.5% ownership, offers some promise as a budget midfielder as the Foxes embark on a set of more favourable fixtures.

A home match with Liverpool and a trip to Arsenal aside, the champions face a good run all the way up to Gameweek 34, with Hull City, Stoke City and Sunderland at the King Power and away fixtures at Swansea City, West Ham, Everton and Crystal Palace.

The return to fitness of striker Islam Slimani following his stint at the Africa Cup of Nations was another plus point for Leicester.

But their parlous form is not the only reason to suggest caution, however.

Ranieri’s side face Millwall in the FA Cup fifth round. Win that and their Gameweek 28 trip to the Emirates will be postponed. And seeing as Arsenal, barring an upset of historic proportions at Sutton United, should also make it through, that Gameweek 28 blank for both sides looks almost inevitable.

Throw in the resumption of Champions League duties on February 22 and March 14 – before matches with Liverpool and West Ham respectively – and fixture congestion weakens the case for investing in Leicester assets still further.

Leicester City XI: Zieler, Amartey, Wasilewski, Benalouane, Chilwell, King, Mendy, (Ndidi 90), Albrighton, Kapustka (Mahrez 81), Gray, Musa (Slimani 90).
Subs not used: Drinkwater, Hamer, Okazaki, Fuchs.

    Heaton / Pickford
    Baines / Alonso / Brunt / Friend / Amat

You might as well hold for this week in case things change, and use two next gw. How long is friend out for? Him for Maguire makes sense, as does Pick for Jaku. I'm personally doing the Costa move next week too, and I think it is sound.

I plan to bring Jaku before gw28, now its good time. Ibra has great fixtures and you can cap him too.
You have 2 fwds for the blank, so i would rather sort out your defence. Friend/Amat to Roberston/Holgate (still better chance he starts then Amat).
Then i would choose one of your mids instead of Ibra to swap for WHU mid (Antonio, Snod) as they have great post blank fixtures. The choice from Alli/Erik/Sanche is yours.

Sanchez 168 points overall - Ibra 140 points.
Goals at home: Arsenal 24, United 17.
Sanchez has the benefit of clean sheet points and an extra goal point.

Ownership. Sanchez in many active teams, Ibra in many dead.
They choose him due to no other standout choice. No Jesus or Siggy, so Sanchez.
When having Kane/Costa, Lukaku or Defoe as front 3, this week Sanchez has in theory weakest opponents.

Alli has more points for a reason, and Liverpool away certainly offers the potential for goals. Then the following week Sig is away to Chelsea, and Alli at home to Stoke.

Good post. I think the answer is yes. Remember there was a time when Rooney was better than Ron, but rather than push himself as far as he could, Roo decided to smoke tabs and drink beer. Ronaldo's commitment to improve is incredible and I wish there were more/any english players who had that but most are v lazy. Messi is more naturally skillful then Ron I think but has worked v hard also

      I'm on Siggy.

Don't have and never will have Ibra and he and they aren't firing.
Own Sanchez but he could be on wing and hull are stronger.

Siggy three goals in three against Liverpool City and Saints, on set pieces and pens, and home v relegation fodder Leicester.

      Siggy all day.

I have all of them and doing C as my captain.

Watford are improving but still not rock solid, but Ibra was basically playing as a midfielder, not so much involved

Arsenal out of form against a very decent Hull lately, although Sanchez can tear it apart with his quality

Siggy against maybe the worst team in the league in terms of form, that also played in the FA cup yesterday (even extra time)

Fletcher to Carroll and it looks reasonable. There's an argument for Costa over Ibra... personally I have both but Ibra does blank in GW26 and GW28. Ibra has nice GW27 and GW29 fixtures though... I'd probably advise keeping him.

Whatt Lawro said ^^ + Costa instead of Ibra, he will most likely be blanking GW 26 & 28. Or Sanchez to Hazard, same reason (Or do both). Definitely try to get Coleman or Baines in and definitely switch Grant for Jaku as he is playing both GW's with the blanks.

      Ibra to Costa
      Grant to Jakupovic
      Kone to Funes Mori
Kaboul to Yoshida / Harry Maguire

      I would transfer out:
      Keep
Heaton, buy Jakupovic (they rotate well till gw 38)
      Keep Alonso, Brunt
      Mids are ok
      Ibra and Kaku - ok
      Get Carroll/Rondon/Llorente as 3rd striker
Get Everton def, get Hull def, get Swa/Hull/WBA/WHU cheapest def.
Should be ok for next 5 gw which will save you some transfers in between.
      But its your call.

Better 🙂 You can change Fletcher to Antonio or Snodgrass as you have no WHU player but its a decent 5th mid or change Llorente to Carroll. Leave money itb, you may need it later.

True but Bilic said he should be fine. Was flagged ealier and played in matches.
WHU has better fixtures (also after the blank gw's) then Swans so tripple SWA isnt the safest strategy too.

Spurs may still play GW28, and while Siggy may have the better fixture GW25, Spurs have the much better fixture GW26 which offsets this.

Primarily I'd just rather wait a week to have a clearer picture of the blanks situation.

I'm also in the no category. Why not give yourself two frees for next week?
Liverpool are vulnerable at the back, and Swansea travel to Chelsea next week. I think Sig is a sensible move long term but Eriksen has more points this season for a reason. I think there is a tendency to fear, on the back of an informed but occasionally exaggerated community opinion, the prospect of one game. There seems a certainty about Sig points this week. But I wouldnt be surprised if both Alli and Erik outscore Sig over the next 2. With transfers needed at this time of the season in particular, I'd hold off.

Fair enough. Good points. I've done it (for free) as Siggy is a long term pick, he's not blanking so he's coming in at some point anyway and he has a better fixture this week imo.

It is a big call to say Spurs are dipping after one game but I'm making that call in the hope it's ahead of the curve, something I've not done several times this season. Having two mids in any team that isn't top of their game is potentially very wasteful.

Is a good shout if you have no other pressing issues - likely gets you an extra GW28 player too. My only worry would be if Pickford will get back into the team as Mannone has been awesome last 2 games.

personally I see Pickford coming straight back in when he is fully fit. He himself had been in awesome form before injury.

I have these keepers but reluctant to lose Heaton due to the high number of save points.

I was going to write a strong argument against this, in view of Heaton's consistent point scoring and his ability to churn out bonus points. But his fixtures, and the run of away games, have me made me less sure...

I'd still be worried about it, as Burnley have demonstrated their defensive worth this season, and Heaton's points per game are absurd (not far away from Sig, who we are transferring in in droves this week). I'd be more inclined to use the transfers on less consistent players.

Yeah - I absolutely wouldn't do it if I had more pressing issues (which we probably all do!), but if I didn't I think the extra funds and the extra GW28 player would possibly be worth it.

Yes. I think that would be a very astute move.

Has there been a player with EO over 100% in the top 10K so far this season?

Over 130% in GW23 for example

Oh, wow, didn't know that. I don't really check top10K ownership/captains that often, so was curious. Thanks kind sir.

Am thinking that this could be a great week for an Alonso (C) punt, Hull frustrating opponents, Ibra/Siggy could deliver but a nice clean sheet, goal and baps x2 for Alonso could be just the tonic

Arsenal (2nd half sub), Liverpool and Spurs aside, he's had a minimum of 6pts away from home every game

Relative to Sanchez (HUL), Ibra (WAT), Siggy (SWA), City (bou), not appealing at all.

I dream of an Alonso triple captain on a double gameweek...

          Wenger press conference...

          Against Chelsea:
"...we did not perform as well as we wanted. I am always surprised when we lose a game because I expect to win it before the game starts and I believe as well we were unlucky because the first goal was absolutely scandalous and that changed the game. Overall it was a very even game."

          Finishing top 4:
"...it has always been difficult but maybe it's even tighter than ever and the fight for every position will be massive. All the other clubs - United, City, Liverpool, Spurs - are big clubs with high expectations and we are in a fight there where we must absolutely be united or we have no chance to do it."

          Arsenal fans:
"...you cannot be a fan last Tuesday and not be a fan any more behind the team this Saturday. Everybody is in a fight there and everybody is behind their team. We have to do exactly the same even if we had two disappointing results."

Thoughts on learning Chinese for the new fantasy super league. This could be a huge differential.
