One of the more eventful Champions League encounters had everything bar Elvis parachuting in to eat a meat pie in stoppage time. For Fantasy managers, it was a bittersweet experience, as we witnessed the City attack demonstrate power and potential at a time when their assets are off the menu.

Manchester City 5 Monaco 3

Eight goals, bookings galore, a missed penalty and another spot-kick denied when it would usually have resulted in the Monaco goalkeeper being dismissed – apart from all that it was just another match.

And then there was Sergio Aguero rediscovering his form just as his side is likely to miss two of the next three Gameweeks

The Argentinian scored twice, laid on another and was booked for diving when on pretty much any other day he would have earned a penalty.

Both Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane found the net and produced assists, with City’s other goal coming from a John Stones tap-in following a Yaya Toure flick on.

David Silva also provided an assist, while Willy Caballero, again preferred to Claudio Bravo, saved a penalty to atone for an earlier error that led to Monaco’s first-half equaliser.

From a Fantasy perspective, however, this is no time to be considering City assets – they already miss this weekend’s scheduled Manchester derby as their nearest rivals will be playing Southampton in the EFL Cup final.

And even if they were to lose at home to Huddersfield in next Wednesday’s FA Cup replay, thus guaranteeing a Gameweek 28 match with Stoke, their next three fixtures after that are Liverpool at home and Arsenal and Chelsea away.

Small wonder, then, that only three of the squad – Stones, Sterling and Aguero – still enjoy more than 10% ownership figures, while Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne and the injured Gabriel Jesus are all in the top 15 for sales this week.

Gameweek 32 looks like being the time to look again at Pep Guardiola’s charges as City have a very attractive run-in and, almost certainly, two double Gameweeks to follow.

That could well put Aguero et al back on our radars, but even then things remain complicated.

The start of that favourable run-in – a home match against Hull City – arrives just three days before a potential Champions League quarter-final tie, making squad rotation yet another factor to consider.

Wait, see and enjoy the ride is probably the best advice on offer as far as Manchester City are concerned at the moment.

Man City XI: Caballero, Sagna, Stones, Otamendi, Fernandinho (Zabaleta 62), Toure, Sane, Silva, De Bruyne, Sterling (Navas 89), Aguero (Fernando 87).
Subs not used: Bravo, Nolito, Delph, Iheanacho.

Hypothesised so many gw26-28 plans since last round of fixtures I no longer trust my judgement.

Someone please reassure me as to the sanity of these moves, or preferably just put me out of my misery by telling me what to do:

    A)
26: Sanchez to Mane, Ibra to Costa
27: Costa to Ibra(C) (or hold Costa V wham)
    28: Amat to Robertson/Maguire

    B)
Same but do Alli to Mane, hold Sanchez

Both give me 11 players gw28, A obviously gives a stronger gw26 but costs me ~0.4m when I inevitably get Alexis back. The Ibra merry-go-round only costs 0.1 assuming he doesn't drop.

Why don't you just do Amat to Robertson this week along with Sanchez to Mane. Waste of trade getting rid of Ibra.

I'd prefer to have Costa (SWA) than Robertson (BUR).

        Heaton (Pick)
        Alonso Coleman Brunt Smith (Amat)
        Alli Siggy Fletcher Phillips (Sanchez)
        Carroll Lukaku (Zlatan)

Feels very weak for gw26, that's why I'm looking at shifting both Sanchez and Ibra

I'd be looking to do Sanchez to Liverpool and sort Amat. Fwd line is fine. Fletcher is a liability but OK for 5th mid.

    Torn between doing:

    A. Jones -> Robertson
    or
    B. Sanchez -> Mane (I have Firmino already)

Original plan was for A, but everyone seems to be doing B, so I could go into freefall if Mane does well against Leicester.

How's your defence for 26 if you do B? Could always do A for gw28

Yeah, I'd probably bring him in for GW 28 anyway. I guess the real question is which is better:

        Mane against Leicester and Arsenal
        or
Robertson againt Burnley and Sanchez against Liverpool

        1. AA33
          9 years, 5 months ago

    Heaton
    Alonso Coleman Holgate Smith
    Hazard Eriksen Alli Phillips
    Costa Lukaku

    (Pickford de Roon Pieters Ibra)

    0 FT 1.2 ITB
    A. G2G
    B. Holgate > Brunt (-4)
    C. Holgate > Maguire /Robertson (-4)
    D. B + Eriksen/Alli > Firmino (-8)
    E. C + Eriksen/Alli > Mane (-8)

    I am a little concerned that I only have 6 GW28 players ATM (inc a dodgy Holgate)so don't mind a hit or 2...Thoughts much appreciated - Cheers!

I think I may have finally cracked it

    Foster, Jak
    Alonso, Kos, Baines, (JONES, AMAT)
    Alli, Coutinho, Phillips, T.Carroll (SANCHEZ)
    Lukaku (c), Gray (IBRA)

How does this look for a plan ?

GW26 Sanchez and Amat to Coleman and Mane
GW27 or GW28 Coutinho to Siggy
    GW28 Kos/Jones to Mawson
    After Blanks Gray to Grabbiadini

Coleman/Mane strengthens this GW's team more than two defender would
I'd wouldn't be playing Siggy or Mawson against Chelsea
I can captain Ibra in GW27
I'd have 10 players for GW28 (with Alli, Ibra, Alonso and Kos/Jones for GW29 on wards, plus 3.5m ish ITB)

GW26 Sanchez and Amat to Coleman and Mane
              GW27 ALLI to Siggy

Thanks. I'm not WC'ing until GW36, and Alli has good fixtures after the blanks, but worth considering as Alli's only DGW is likely to be in GW37

Siggy's a decent pick, but I wouldn't sell Coutinho for him. Maybe Alli but still pondering this myself (for liv double).

    Thoughts on this plan?
1ft, 2.7 in the bank. Will probably do Ibra to Lukaku leaving me with:

    Heaton
    Alonso, Holebas, Evans
    Hazard, Mane, Eriksen, Phillips
    Costa, Lukaku, Carroll

    Pickford, Fletcher, Holgate, Mawson

    Planned transfers:
    GW27: Eriksen to Siggy
GW28: Holebas to Coleman or Hazard to Firmino giving me 11 for GW28 (including Holgate)
GW29: Will have 4m/7m in the bank to get Sanchez/Ibra back easily

    1. MTPockets
      9 years, 5 months ago

Looks fine. Obviously leaves no spurs for a pretty good fixture run; that's an aspect I can't decide on (Alli in my case).

Holebas to Coleman better then Hazrad to Firmino as you have Mane and better lineup for gw29.
Also getting back Ibra should first with his fixtures imo.
Great squad anyway. Planning to WC anytime soon?

    GTG?

    Jaku
    Brunt Baines Alonso
    Phillips Snoddy Haz Milner
    Kane Tekkers Kaku(c)
subs - grant, stanislas, pieters, amat.

no free transfers & 3.6 ITB.
Oh and I know the consenses on Milner but I'm keeping until at least gw29.

    Jaku
    Alonso Baines Coleman McAuley
    Hazard Eriksen Mane (C) Siggy
    Lakaku (VC) Defoe

    Pickford Gray Stanislas Lenhian

I can afford not to be serious as I am way off League Leaders.

I just think Rondon has to score again sometime and the way the manager has held faith in him suggests to me at least that he is performing much better than any stat here suggests.
