Tuesday Player Picks

Fixtures
Arsenal v Bayern
Napoli v Real Madrid

Manuel Neuer – Bayern – $5,000 – G
The Bayern keeper may be pricey pick but it’s fair to say that Arsenal will need to carry the match to their visitors following a chastening 5-1 first-leg loss at the Allianz Arena.

Such a scenario should, at least, produce save points for Neuer, who has a healthy 11.4 Fantasy Points Per Game (FPPG) over nine DraftKings outings. The weekend shutout against Koln in the Bundesliga makes it 17 clean sheets in 34 appearances this campaign.

Marcelo – Real Madrid – $4,900 – D
Over his last trio of La Liga appearances, the raiding right-back has delivered 29 crosses (worth 0.75 points each in DraftKings), a pair of assists and five attempts on goal, earning 15.3 FPPG.

Madrid have kept just a single clean sheet in the five league matches since facing Napoli, hinting that attacking returns need to be targeted if opting for a Real Madrid defender. Marcelo was rested for the 4-1 win at Eibar over the weekend so should be refreshed for the trip to the San Paolo.

Thiago Alcantara – Bayern – $5,600 – M
The Spaniard was the standout performer from Bayern’s first-leg rout, delivering two goals and an assist on his way to a 36-point haul.

This time around, it’s Thiago’s defensive contribution that has caught our eye – with Arsenal desperate to attack, we reckon his ball-winning abilities in the centre of the park will be key to launching Bayern’s quick counters. A total of 50 tackles (+ 1 point) and 81 interceptions (+0.5 points) is more than any team-mate in the Bundesliga this season.

DK1

Dries Mertens – Napoli – $7,500 – M/F
The Belgian fired both goals in a 2-1 victory over Roma at the weekend, underlining his importance to Napoli’s cause.

Mertens has produced 18 goals and seven assists across 24 Serie A appearances in a hugely impressive season and has also served up four goals and as many assists over the Champions League group stages.

If the Serie A side are to overturn a 3-1 deficit in front of their own supporters, Mertens’ contribution looks vital against a Madrid defence that’s shipped six goals in their last three matches.

Alexis Sanchez – Arsenal – $7,900 – M/F
Benched for the weekend loss at Liverpool, the Chilean will surely return to Arsene Wenger’s teamsheet as the Gunners attempt to claw back that four-goal deficit at home to Bayern.

Sanchez’ average of 15.5 FPPG is far and away the best on offer for the north London side – a total of 22 goal and 14 assists across all competitions indicates that, if Arsenal are to make any leeway tomorrow night, we can rely on Alexis.

Wednesday Player Picks

Fixtures
Dortmund v Benfica
Barcelona v Paris

Ederson Moraes – Benfica – $3,800 – G
We tipped the Brazilian in the opening encounter with Dortmund and he duly delivered – preserving a clean sheet to secure a 1-0 win and score 24 points (keepers in DraftKings benefit from a +5 point win bonus).

Benfica will be under pressure from kick-off in Germany and if Moraes repeats those first-leg endeavours (his five saves kept them in the tie), a budget price tag should represent value even in defeat.

Lukasz Piszczek – Dortmund – $4,400 – D
A goal and pair of assists in the recent 3-0 win over Wolfsburg is indicative of the left-back’s value for money.

Another assist in the following home match – a 6-2 victory over Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday – has further boosted Piszczek’s prospects ahead a home encounter with Benfica. Dortmund should be dominant against their Portuguese opponents, which should allow the Polish international leeway to raid forward.

If you can afford the extra outlay, his team-mate Raphael Guerreiro ($5,200) is worth considering, with an 11.8 FPPG over seven European matches. Playing out of position in midfield, he’s scored twice and provided a fifth assist of the season over his last three Bundesliga outings.

Ivan Rakitic – Barcelona – $5,700 – M
Barcelona have it all to do after suffering a 4-0 defeat in the first leg, with their front trio all likely to see heavy investment.

Rakitic, however, offers a budget route into an attack that will be going all out to claw back some respect at the very least. Although he’s yet to score in Europe this term, three goals in his last four La Liga starts suggests that the Croatian should comfortably better his 7.7 FPPG on Wednesday evening.

DK2

Ousmane Dembele – Dortmund – $7,700 – M/F
The Frenchman has provided attacking returns in four of his last five home league matches, which includes a goal and assist combination against both Wolfsburg and Bayer Leverkusen in Dortmund’s last two at the Signal Iduna Park.

A 12.1 FPPG in the Champions League, comprising of a goal and five assists over the group stages, showcases his potential. Saturday’s 6-2 victory over fellow Champions League competitors Leverkusen boosts Dortmund’s momentum as they look to overcome that one-goal reverse against Benfica.

Edison Cavani– Paris Saint Germain – $6,700 – F
Rather than put their fate in Barca’s hands, Umai Emery will be eager for his side to notch an away goal and put the tie beyond doubt.

Having already scored in the first-leg rout, Cavani’s record this season suggests that he could offer excellent value for money at the Nou Camp.

A weekend penalty against Nancy took his tally to 27 goals in 26 Ligue 1 appearances, while that consistency is echoed in the Champions League, with seven goals in as many matches.

        It could pay off. They have been scoring a few which is nice. Llorente only for a couple of weeks and Carroll is bench player at best. So only 3 attackers for this week punt.

    I only just saw the highlights for the Sunderland game. Aguero really could/should have had a couple more, great save from Pickford towards the end. He looks in that kind of electric form where he will make a hatrick all by himself. Brilliant player.

      I was impressed too. Others thought he laboured a little and wasn't quite as sharp as recent games. Sunderland did defend really well for the most part to give them credit, fine keeper too. 37 DGW cheapo's nudge there lol 😉

      I also liked how exuberant he was when Sane scored. You can see Kun pumping his fists in delight as he rushes to congratulate Sane. The spirit and attitude are great to see as well.

          Yes, I am beginning to think so.

          Lewandowski suffered in his first season under Guardiola, his goalscoring was way down from his Dortmund levels. But second season he was right back up there in terms of goals per game, slightly better in fact.

          If Kun is over the bump in the road then maybe the time of his FPL exile is coming to an end.

        Not really, no. I should mention that I would only keep Carroll for GW28 so as long as he's fit for that I'm not worried about him getting injured. Kane is coming in GW29 regardless.

          Then I'd recommend simply keeping Kun for now and do the Kane move in GW29. I simply don't think Carroll will do much

                Mane, Alli, Sigurdsson, Pedro and Capoue. Don't want to touch any of them. Have enough ITB for Capoue -> Antonio but that messes with my team structure going forward.

    Which one give more points for next 2 GWs? (Both option costs -4 and going to save FT before international break)

    1) Aguero+Sterling --> Lukaku+Mane/Firmino (11 players)
    2) Aguero+Chadli --> Lukaku+Firmino (10 players)

      I'd probably go with 2) out of those options. Chadli likely to get 2 points, and WB has horrible fixtures after this GW. Sterling could be of use. Liv and Ars are not the best teams defensively, so could be some goals in those games/points for sterling. tough call though.

        Agreed. Seems strange getting rid of Chadli when he plays and Sterling doesn't but Sterling is definitely the better pick post GW28.

    I have 8 players to play in GW28 and wondering if it will be worth a hit for another player.

    A: De Roon -> T.Carroll
    B: De Roon -> Firmino
    C: De Roon -> Lanzini
    D: De Roon -> Antonio

    Jaku
    Coleman - Baines
    Phillips - Siggy - Mane
    Lukaku - Llorente

    A will make it easy for me to get Sanchez & Kane next week.

    C will give me a match with my rival.

    B & D are differentials.

    How about this for a GW29 post-WC draft?

    Grant Jakupovic
    Walker Alonso Funes Mori Fernandez Ake
    Sigurdsson Sanchez Coutinho Lanzini Fletcher
    Costa Lukaku Kane

    Struggle to find any 3.9 defender so might as well put Ake in there. Fancy Lanzini more than Snodgrass. Can't afford Antonio.

    Since Siggy price already increased to 7.7, is it still worth doing Sterling to Siggy or maybe de Roon for Snoddy/Lanzini for a hit?

        To get rid of a blank defender is essentially a -2 floor, which isn't bad if you're considering getting a new player in in the coming weeks and using a transfer then anyways

      Not sure who you'll bring though... WBA/BOU/WHM/SWA/LIV's defense not so good. Hull have been shaky for last 2-3 games

      You probably have an Evertionian. Burnley is against Liverpool

      Depends who you have really. Liverpool mids could pay off over the coming weeks, same with Siggy and lukaku of course. Even west ham has a decent run of fixtures. West Brom and BOU assets will need to go, and any hull/Swansea defenders can stay as cheap bench fodder.

        Everton do have a pace problem at the back.
        FM scores some goals but average defensive wise.
        No room for Williams and Jags as both lack pace but both read the game so well.
        Holgate is going to be good but a bit to learn still.
        Baines slowing down and stays deeper due to pace and energy restrictions.
        Coleman has real pace but plays well upfield.
        Teams like Spurs Pool and Chelsea will exploit our deficiencies and that is why we have so many defensive mids.
        Time for Barry to go but with Schneiders and Gueye around next year and a C Back and left back coming in will make a huge difference.
        Selling Oviedo was a surprise to me.

        Trying this year to win real money in head to head league and it is so different the way I think about my team and transfers. In reality, points mini leagues I've given up on. My opinions are only good for weekly matches, because I'm playing my opposition each week only, it is so different.

        I'm taking hits left and right if they make sense for who I am playing this week and the next. I am leading and determined to win this head to head league, but next year (unless the money is bigger) I go back to overall score. Hint: It is fairly easy to win and beat the crap out of players in head to head because they don't play for the fixtures like I do. It is kind of eye-opening.

        It will cost 2 points to move Amat for a defender over the remainder of the season. Players like Amat sit in sides until WC's because we can never aford to move them. Take this opportunity.

          It may Cost -4 too if Amat comes on for a 1 pointer and the player I bring in ships in 2 goals.

          Truly, I don't want any defender playing this week for the rest of the season.

            There is always doom and gloom in any pick if you look at it that way but for example:
            Amat plays and gets 1 point. You pick say Mawson, Maguire, Olsson etc and they only get 1 point. So down 4 which is about as bad as it gets. But both those examples will probably play to the season end and will be used to accumulate points.

      How many players does everyone have for GW28? And how many hits are you'll taking?

      I'm looking at 9 for 1 hit currently. May take another to double up LIV mid.
