The FA have this afternoon confirmed that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will serve a three-match ban for violent conduct following an altercation with Tyrone Mings during Manchester United’s weekend draw against Bournemouth.

Today’s news is set to have a major effect on the Fantasy Premier League transfer market as we look for alternatives to the 34.9% owned Red Devils frontman.

Ibrahimovic will miss the upcoming FA Cup quarter-final match against Chelsea, in addition to United’s next two Premier League fixtures against Middlesbrough and West Brom, before returning to contention in time for the Gameweek 31 home encounter with Everton on Tuesday, April 4.

Devoid of a Gameweek 28 fixture as a result of that Chelsea encounter, the Swede – who has scored just once in his last five league appearances – was already the number one asset for transfers out since the weekend deadline passed.

Over 34,000 former Ibrahimmovic owners have made the move to Harry Kane – Spurs may also without a league match this weekend but they then face Southampton and Burnley while the Swede spends his enforced time on the sidelines.

Meanwhile, 31,000+ have swapped him out for Romelu Lukaku as Everton host West Brom this weekend in the first of four favourable home fixtures in six, while Swansea’s Fernando Llorente – with five goals in six – has been an automatic replacement for over 14,000 FPL managers ahead of a weekend trip to Hull.

Arguably, the lack of viable options up top for a four-match Gameweek 28 slate may somewhat limit the exodus over the next few days, yet with the likes of Diego Costa facing Stoke and Palace over Gameweek 29-30, we can expect the transfers out to intensify next week once all the big guns are back in contention.

Nonetheless, as one of just three sides with two fixtures still to be scheduled – along with Arsenal and Southampton – there’s no doubt that the Swede still has a major part to play later in the season once the double Gameweeks are finally scheduled.

      I chose Llorente over Lukaku, since I'd wanna take him out after 2 weeks anyway, and the extra FT will be worth more to upgrade elsewhere. I have Siggy and wouldn't want to be without him for his value, but I don't think it would hurt too much to go without him if you have spent your money on an overall good team. Stick to your gameplan rather than acting out of fear, I'd say

    Jaku
    Mc Auley / Amat*
    Mané / Philips
    Lukaku

    De Gea / Alonso / Walker / Love / Sterling / De Roon / Allen / Ibra / Aguero

    A) Ibra -> Llorente + Allen -> Siggy (-4)
    B) Ibra -> Llorente + Allen -> Siggy + Sterling -> Firmino (-8)
    C) Ibra -> Llorente + Sterling -> Siggy + Love -> Baines (-8)
    D) Wildcard

    Or if you have a better idea, please share with me ;D

    Where does all this talk come that Liverpool don't do well v lesser opposition? At home, vs teams who aren't the "big 6" they have won 6 drawn 1 and lost 1. They've only not scored. They have never failed to score less than 2 goals in these games- 2,4,2,6,4,2,5,2,2.

    Perhaps it stems from their away record but once again they very rarely fail to score less than 2 in those games, and given they're at home to

          Thing is - who are the players that have been non-stop since the beginning of the season. Basically Otamendi, Stones, KDB, Sterling and Silva. Otamendi got a rest on Sunday as did KDB. Toure and Silva got a rest against Huddersfield. The only two who have not had a rest are Sterling and Stones. Hence can see them being rested.

            Usually yes, but I am bringing him for Pieters, who will get 0.

            So I will get 6-4 = 2 for a CS alone. And Coleman can get attacking returns and BPS as well.

        but the squad you fielded last GW had Stanislas, Amat, Anchiebe, Phillips, Ibra, 2 x City and 2 x WBA D in it, so I doubt you will be setup any better long term than those who are fielding 11 this GW.

      Think I'm doing the same - I don't really want any of the other players long term. I'd rather keep Sane/Sterling and swap them for players like Tadic/Pedro/Mata/Walcott when the opportunity arises/DGWs are confirmed.

      1. GE
        • 9 Years
        9 years, 5 months ago

        So you don't consider to Sterling/Sane -> Firmino/Antonio and do Firmino/Antonio -> Pedro/Tadic later?

        1. SADIO SANÉ
          • 11 Years
          9 years, 5 months ago

          I think I'll just stick with Mane. Considering I'll need a hit to get them in and then a hit to remove them afterwards, it's essentially a -6. Firmino is pretty tempting though.

          1. GE
            • 9 Years
            9 years, 5 months ago

            I could afford Sane/Sterling -> Firmino (-4) now and do Mane -> Sanchez without a hit before GW29. The problem for me with these moves is my problem to upgrade Brunt before his horrible run of fixture. An alternative is to do Sane/Sterling -> Antonio.

            1. SADIO SANÉ
              • 11 Years
              9 years, 5 months ago

              Yeah if you'd rather have Firmino over Mane then that sounds pretty good. Brunt is a problem for me too, genuinely thinking about taking a hit to do Brunt -> Olsson this week, even though I can't field 11.

                  Yeah I'm all over the place. Now thinking about taking a couple of hits in order to field more GW28 players AND transition to a 343 (been 352 for ages). I've got enough team value to have 3 decent strikers so may as well go in that direction.

    This week:

    Definite transfer - Sterling > Firmino

    Poss transfer - Phillips > King (Also helps with future moves) -4

    Additional punt - Aguero > Llorente -8

    If I did all 3 for a -8 I'm left with this for 28:

    Foster
    FMori (Holgate Amat)
    Mane Firmino King
    Lukaku Llorente

    Following week Llorente + Firmino > Sanchez + Kane

    Worth the -8 or just keep to -4 and not bother with Llorente?

      Can you do Llorente to Kane only? Would wait for more Sanchez news..

    Still toying with who to captain:
    A) Llorente
    B) Siggy
    C) Mane
    D) Lukaku

      Currently on Mane, Lukaku is the other I'm considering. Others aren't captaincy options imo

        Siggy has the consistency, just doesn't haul much, Llorente would be a punt. Mane and Lukaku are clearly the front runners though, Mane's home form may sway it for me but I'd be worried about a Lukaku haul, West Brom are pants vs the bigger teams.

          All correct. I just fancy Mane for the one week explosion punt as I'll be getting rid for Sanchez after. Might still swap to Lukaku though. Not sure

            Sounds like a plan, when Mane scores, he usually gets another goal/assist, same here, both will definitely score though imo so I would feel same with either.

    Only have 8 players for 28 and on -4. Any of these worth -8?

    a. Sterling to Liverpool mid (already have Mane)
    b. Sterling to Antonio or Lanzini
    c. Amat to Mawson/Robertson (only have defender/Coleman)

      Line up:

      Foster
      Coleman
      Mane / Siggy / Fletcher / Phillips
      Lukaku / Llorente

      Pick / Aguero / Sterling / Cedric / Alonso / Pieters / Amat

      Get rid of Amat. It's only -4 for one move, effectively -2

            Maybe a better option as I just noticed he already has two Swans, 3 is a bit much

              That, and the fact I think they are more capable of CS than Hull, though Mawson has the goal threat

          Iirc Heaton parried it and Noble pounced on the rebound and scored....So not really a miss.....Only in FPL terms....

    Will be a disgrace if mings ends up getting a longer ban than ibra. Not only did ibra purposely elbow mings at a corner, he also tried to stamp on mings' face in a situation that was no different to what mings then did to him. How this has not been spotted is beyond me and if there is anyone that should be getting a ban for more than the standard 3 games its ibra.
