The first double Gameweek of 2016/17 comes to its conclusion at the Etihad tonight as Manchester City take on Stoke City at 8pm.

Pep Guardiola’s decision to rotate has hit owners of Raheem Sterling hard – the winger has been rested for tonight’s match and fails to even make the bench.

It’s a bitter blow for the 338,000+ managers who drafted Sterling in for the double – they’re left with six points in Gameweek 27 after he provided the assist for Sergio Aguero’s opener at Sunderland.

There’s no concerns over Aguero, though, as he leads the line once again.

Handed the armband by 12.6% of Fantasy Premier League managers and Triple Captained by over 159,000, the Argentine has produced two goals and an assist in each of his previous two home appearances.

Leroy Sane also retains his role in Pep’s XI. The German is currently City’s top scoring player of the Gameweek after notching the second at the Stadium of Light to return a ten-point haul.

Those holding David Silva and John Stones are left frustrated as the duo drop to the bench, with Kevin De Bruyne returning to the teamsheet after a stint as a sub away to the Black Cats. A big performance would go some way to vindicating the decision of 6,937 FPL managers to play their Triple Captain chip on the Belgian.

After delivering a third clean sheet in four, City’s prospects of more defensive returns were handed a boost after Marko Arnautovic failed to recover from the illness that forced him off against Middlesbrough at the weekend.

The Austrian is currently the top scoring double Gameweek 27 player after bagging both goals in the 2-0 win over Aitor Karanka’s side.

Up top, Peter Crouch’s appeal as a budget third striker now seems far from secure – the target man’s run of ten league starts comes to an end as he drops to the bench, with new boy Saido Berahino handed a first start.

    Thoughts on this? 0FT, 3.9m.

    Heaton (Pickford)
    Baines Coleman McAuley (Pieters Holebas)
    Mane Sigurdsson Phillips (Eriksen Sterling)
    Lukaku Carroll (Kane)

    1. Sterling > Firmino (-4)?
    2. Nothing?
    3. Other?

    Cheers in advance

If United beat Chelsea in cup I think it'll spice things up. It'll bring Watford players very much on the radar. They'll have a lovely run of fixtures (cpl, SUN, WBA, tot, SWA) followed by a dgw34 (hull, che). Will make it very difficult to choose between one or two of Deeney, Gabbi and Llorente over that period. Llorentes fixtures are great too and Gabbi has 2 good homes in 30 and 31 with 2 more doubles to come. Chelsea would also have a dgw34 against (SOT, WAT) if United beat them in cup. Might actually make a gw30 wildcard worthwhile. Could get triple Spurs, triple Chelsea and triple Watford, fill the other spaces with Sanchez and Saints along with Valencia and just turn the triple Watford into 37 doublers with FT's after 34 to still be able to BB 15 in 37. If Chelsea beat United and the other 3 favourites win their ties, it'll be a boring run up to a gw36 wildcard. A United win would open up the early wildcard option.

From that I am think of holding Lukaku til 30 then get Gabi and that should fund Sanchez if needed by then. Not sure on Waford I won't be going there regardless of fixtures.

      1. Jay_
        9 years, 4 months ago

The problem with prioritising Gabbi and Sanchez in with FT's is that it means neglecting Spurs, or at least in my case as I have zero Spurs. This week was painful not owning any.

Hot topic needed on 'how I screwed up TC'?

Stuff of nightmares. In my mini league the guy who captained Llorente and didn't transfer in Kun outscored my pitiful TC score of 89.

I am third in my league and the guys above me still have TC intact. By not playing safe now I am forced to keep looking for differentials. And hide behind the sofa when next DGWs come around.

    1. Jayv807
      • 9 Years
      9 years, 4 months ago

might not be that bad, if you wind up captaining whoever they TC, it will minimise the damage. Also, as you learned this week, having all of your team perform in a GW can overcome someone using their TC.

      1. athreya
        • 14 Years
        9 years, 4 months ago

True. GW37 is not a worry with BB. The other DGW will be the pain point if there is choice between big hitters like Alexis and Ibra. I hope the DGWs get spread out a bit.

not sure how comfortable anyone would be TC'ing Ibra after the Bournemouth debacle !! but ya, if the other teams in your ML don't choose the same TC option, you obviously can't cover both with your captain choice alone. I used my TC this week and fortunately made up some ground on my ML. He has his TC left, but has already used his WC. We also have very different teams (only Mane, Siggy, Lukaku and Heaton in common) so there have been, and probably will be more big swings in the lead between now and the end of the year (hopefully in my favour haha)

Yeah so it makes the timing of WC crucial. Cheers.

    2. Jay_
      9 years, 4 months ago

Of my real life mini leagues against people I actually know, my main rival captained Siggy and only owned Stones and Grant of the doublers. He outscored me by 9 and has stretched lead to 39 points now. Still has all chips. Owned Kane, Alli, Llorente.

Yeah that Stoke double up also has gotten my goat. And Llorente has really blind sided me. I thought his goals vs Pool were a one off event.

Defoe has three decent fixtures coming up and could end the dry spell. He was close a few times against city. I'd probably hand onto him if I had him, could be a good differential.

Geez, I know you guys have been talking about TC fail, but I'm in just now. This season finds me perplexed by things like trusting Lukaku more than Aguero. If City has been one thing this season it is inconsistent. I should have known better.

Agreed. I thought so much about Kane (C) > Aguero (C) for a hit, knowing fully well that I'd take another hit immediately after for the reverse transfer. Was almost convinced against it but thought hey, it's Kun after all... There are some players I'm never going for again this season: Benteke, Kun, Fuchs, Cedric!

Still 50/50 between Lukaku and Mane.

Yeah, same here. Lukaku might be the safest pick though.

What are people doing with Phillips, is he going to play this weekend? If i knew he wasn't going to start i'd swap for lallana as it's a move i want to do long term anyway, but don't want him to go out & get a goal or assist v everton

Waiting and hoping, just to avoid another hit this week.

I'm leaning towards selling to be honest, what is he really going to do v everton even if he does start?

Lallana is playing deeper than before- do you really want him ?

Looking at his form, its really bad. Nothing in last 8 starts. 4 goals & 4 assists in previous 8 before that though. Maybe Mane instead. Long term would you prefer Costa & Lallana, or Pedro & Mane? That's what it would essentially come down to.

    Any reason not to do
    Aguero to Lorente
    Ibra to Lukaku

now? Want to my team to look nice on the page as well as avoiding price changes. Fantasy Football Fix looking a bit broken?

Good moves is Llorente going up in price tonight? Probably worth doing now if so

Can't see a reason not to make those moves.
Fplstatistics.co.uk should be good for price change info.

Worth a hit to remove Phillips?

Can afford a mid up to 5.8m so looking at grosicki, snoddy, king or brady.

Pondering same situation... Need some certainty on phillips, but in fairness i think it's time to move him on anyway looking at WBrom's fixs, his form & the other good mids available. Worst case even if he does start, is he likely to do anything v everton?

      move him out
      king - good 2home 1 away game.
      grosicki - a good 10 games ahead

      either or.

Heaton never seems to do well away from home would lean towards Jaku. Don't think either will get a CS, but should get some save points. I'm forced to play Heaton

Brunt has been a massive source of disappointment. Not sure if I should ditch him immediately after this weekend, or wait until after the Arsenal match. WBA could steal something given the current disarray of Arsenal

This lot look ok? Hope so it's taken a -8
8 out and I would take a point each for Philips and Diomande

    Jaku
    Coleman Baines
    Mane(C) Firmino Siggy Philips*
    Lukaku Llorente Diomande*
