Fresh from a lacklustre end to this season’s first double Gameweek, which culminated with Manchester City’s goalless draw against Stoke, the community is already looking ahead to the weekend’s fixtures and beyond.

Our resident scribes check out bandwagon chasing and captaincy options, while our hot topic discussions take in long-term attacking targets, the proliferation of Fantasy Football media and season-defining moves.

Hull City’s band of differentials, as well as defenders with attacking intent, are the focus of our Members table round up before we finish off with a look at those leading our community contests after Gameweek 27’s extended schedule.

The Community Articles

Ahead of the weekend’s reduced fixture list, in which just eight teams play, YMA has been taking a look at form and fixtures to run the rule over the best captaincy candidates.

For Kryten, bandwagon chasing and whether this strategy can reap immediate rewards, is one of the key issues to consider, particularly with many looking to make short-term moves to bolster their ailing Gameweek 28 teams.

Meanwhile, Kryten has been named community writer of the month, for February. He wins a £20 Amazon voucher after his troll hunting articles, which covered form and fixture miscreants to earn the most votes.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

With such a limited pool of players to choose from in Gameweek 28, hits are likely to be needed, according to Wild Rover who offered some timely advice on spending points.

But some managers’ squads will be so depleted that a Wildcard chip may be required. However, our hot topic on when to use this valuable chip suggested that its deployment later in the season could be far more profitable.

Good differentials will also be crucial to success, as we cast our eye over some of the best low-owned gems to consider this weekend.

Camarozz has been looking even further ahead to assess the ideal front three after this weekend’s streamlined schedule is out of the way.

Alexis Sanchez would ordinarily be a key long-term midfield target, with home encounters with West Ham and Sunderland and trips to Crystal Palace and Middlesbrough over Arsenal’s next six league outings.

However, with the Gunners star seemingly disgruntled at his side’s lack of ambition, Numb is among those concerned about the Chilean’s scoring potential for the rest of the campaign.

Shunning FPL’s highest scoring player could prove to be a season-defining decision, which was an issue Demi discussed when he dropped by earlier this week to find out how your 50-50 calls have panned out.

Manchester City’s attackers, such as Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling, ruined many of the community’s double Gameweek plans and are now being jettisoned according to our Rough with the Smooth weekly score round-up.

Concerns were raised earlier this week by Chenku Zipped Up that the growth of FPL’s content and promotional activity had led to Fantasy managers being “spoonfed” too much information. This prompted a lengthy discussion on the media’s influence on how templates form over the season.

Later in the week, Shifty reassessed the issue to argue that savvy Fantasy manages can use this proliferation of FPL information and advice to their advantage, by deliberately targeting under the radar differentials.

Finally, the community was out in force this week to congratulate Optimus on the birth of his baby girl, Leah.

The Members Tables

For those looking to refresh their backlines once Gameweek 28’s blank fixtures are out of the way, my attacking defenders table offers a raft of candidates with points potential at both ends of the pitch.

With Hull City being among the minority of teams to play in the league this weekend, Papilo has cast his eye over the best Tigers to consider.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Tournaments

In TorresMagic‘s Last Man Standing competition, Eunuch Jelly hit the top score in Gameweek 27 with 99. There are now 365 teams left after 62 were eliminated when the safety score was set at 55.

A Gameweek 27 score of 87 was enough to hand HuttonDressedAsLahm top spot in Red Lightning’s Top 10K Any Season.

Meanwhile, Dan Clapson retains the lead in Red Lightning’s January to May league.

Mark has now snatched top spot in the FFScout Moderators and Contributors league with a slender two-point lead over second-placed TorresMagic.

Meanwhile, Billy Ketsu is back in the lead in the FFScout Members league – that’s despite opting not to play his his Triple Captain chip and earning minus one points from Zlatan Ibrahimovic at home to Bournemouth.

Our main mini-league is still topped by Jatin Arutla. However he has slipped to third overall but is yet to play his Triple Captain chip.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round-ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spreadsheet or head-to-head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

The Firmino injury situation has put a proper spanner in the works.
I have 11 this week with no hits if you include Firmino and I am going to WC GW30 with BB and TC still to play.
    Current bunch is :-
    Jakupovic
    Coleman, Baines, Brunt
Antonio , Mane, Firmino, Siggy, Markovic
    Carroll, Lukaku

    Foster, Aguero, Alonso, Chambers
    £1.9m ITB TV £104M

Bearing in mind the GW30 WC do I evict Firmino and rather than Coutinho bring in Llorente or Lanzini for a hit this GW

    Jak Heaton
    Alonso Coleman Walker (Pieters Amat)
Hazard Mane Alli Siggy (De roon)
    Lukaku Kane Gabbiadini

    Im a crazy man 🙂
Zlatan, Sterling, Sane, Phillips, Grabban OUT
Lukaku, Coutinho, T. Carroll, King, A. Carroll IN

Thing is, I took out dead players with players I´ll keep for the rest of the season, (until my wildcard in 34-36). In total -16 points hit, but this week it´s only a -8, so 5 players in for -8. Small wildcard for me here 😛 😉

    Full eleven
    Jakupovic
    Coleman Brunt Baines Robertson
    Siggy King Coutinho T. Carroll
    A. Carroll Lukaku

    1. MTPockets

Think it depends on rationale. I did:
      Sterling > Mane
      Chambers (broken foot) > Coleman
      Ibra (suspended) > Llorente
      Phillips (crocked) > Fraser

Still left with bloody Firmino though, and an itchy trigger figger.

      Ibra > Llorente

      Sterling > Mane
      Sane > Coutinho

With hindsight would have just kept de Roon and left Tarroll, but did the first two moves earlier in the week stupidly hoping Phillips would play.

    From the old article:
I think this graph for Coutinho shows the indisputable fact of the effect the official fpl videos/advice is having on the transfer market/decisions this season.
    https://i.gyazo.com/eed3a98c1f9ca26045f25c48ce03fc95.png

The official fpl site/twitter account has been pushing Coutinho and, lo and behold, there it is a massive spike in transfers

My problem with it is it's effectively Mark/official fpl managing peoples teams the way it is now. And especially tweets like that 1 where it's directly piggybacking off of the information/discussion of this community

The question "Should we replace Ibra...?"
And then Mark " Yes. And you should replace him with Kane. And probably have Lukaku for the next 6. And also buy Gabbiadini in gw30"

This imo is basically managing peoples teams for them, and its hard to say it's not directly lifted from this comment
"Kane for me due to impending doubles, plus his explosiveness as a captain. Basically if you don't own him and he hauls its red arrow time.

Lukaku for the next two due to his ability to score when expected at home against poor sides. After that long term I'd be looking to move on - a dgwk 34 striker most likely.

Gabbiadini - winning the race for the cheap strikers for me. Great start plus two dgwks."

                  Isn't this just common knowledge?
Casual players are more spoonfed compared to the past and are likely to get a better rank. If they are a threat to you with less information then you must be unlucky. Lifts the level of the game but there are plenty of places where you should outscore them. They see Mark's top 2K team weekly there and his possible transfers.

I'm not really complaining at the spoonfeeding of information or that it's "unfair" or anything like that. What i'm saying is that the clear effect of this is that people are effectively having their teams managed by a third party which detracts from the authenticity of the game imo, it's almost like halfway towards playing against a bunch of people who are managing a robotic "algorithm" type team

Isn't that the same as an RMT on here if you don't make suggestions?
You could use the transfers in/out (round) each week in FPL and do decently. What rank do you think these teams have on average?

Bit of a difference between an advisory RMT on a niche ff website, and someone telling people the exact moves to make on an official fpl platform.
The tone of some of the content isn't advisory, you cant watch this and not come to the conclusion that this is effectively telling people what to do, when to do it and how to do it

Common sense advice is all it is. It's not rocket science to sell Ibra when suspended for Kane who has 5 goals in last 2. It seems you are more worried about Gabbiadini being leaked than anything else. It's pretty much Mark telling his future plans.

It goes way beyond "What should i do with Ibra?" which was the original question. I'm honestly not bothered about whether certain players rise or fall (i hadn't even mentioned Gabbiadini) through natural mechanisms. I think it's good for the game for more people to have access to stats/information, but this is more about people being told what to do from an authority source and the conformity effect this is having

I do back myself to beat that, i'm not complaining about that. My problem as stated above is it's effectively Mark/official fpl managing peoples teams and how that's driving the game and the transfer market

Everytime Mark gives advice people follow it. On here, on the scoutcast, on fpl Twitter, wherever. I'm not sure what the point of all this constant moaning about it is. This site has been doing it for years, so what?
As far as your post goes, I cant say I'm surprised that people have bought Coutinho on a Thursday or Friday in this particular gw. He is after all one of the standout options for anyone who vaguely follows football.

Great, me neither because i prefer to make my own decisions. I'm influenced ofcourse by others, as is humanly nature. I just find it odd the way some have taken all this. Coming onto a site that gives fpl advice and moaning at others getting the same advice.

The answer to this is "so what" ? This is just one persons opinion who others choose to follow. Everyone on here is aware of it but surely just play the game your own way. The downward fluctuations in price are as volatile as the increases so it all evens out anyway. I am sure that if Mark said "buy Ibra this week" people would ignore that. Coutinho is an obvious choice this week to any FPL player. It's a bad example.

Compare his chart to that of Firmino/Mane as posted above. Clear difference, just happens to coincide with fpl releasing loads of pro-Coutinho

Phillips for Antonio (that would be -8 and 9 players), his price could fall tonight, or wait and see what's happening with Firm tomorrow?

Are either of these transfers worth a -4?

    Foster
    Baines Mawson Ward
    Mane Siggy
    Lukaku Rondon
Pickford Alonso Chambers Eriksen Phillips Clayton Aguero

    A) Phillips -> King
    B) Chambers -> Coleman
    C) Both for a -8

    Have 8 playing already.

    Should do
    A)to field 9,
Sterling >> Cout? (have mane, if that matters)

    B) to field 9,
    Amat >> Olsson

    C) to field 10,
    Do A nd B

Depends what you can do with the saved cash for the following gw. See what it means for you, i.e. Upgrading Carroll to Costa or kane then the cheaper mid like King is probly a better option.

Just this week I like Coutinho's potential returns, captain material !

With Phillips out I have ten this week. Would you take a hit to do Benteke to Llorente? Bear in mind I don't want Llorente long term, I want Gabbiadini. Seems a waste to get him in knowing that I'll be taking him back out again but then it's really only a two point hit. I've already taken a -8 and I don't have Sigurdsson if that matters.
