Eleven goals from the three matches – a hat-trick from a midfield differential and another double-digit return from Romelu Lukaku – with Liverpool’s attack yet to feature, Gameweek 28 looks destined to punch well above its weight.

Brought in by more than 143,000 ahead of Gameweek 28, second only to Swansea City’s Gylfi Sigurdsson among midfielders, Bournemouth’s Josh King is clearly the headline act so far.

It all started disastrously for King’s legion of new owners, with the Norwegian calmly side-footing his early spot-kick wide to register a -2 deficit.

However, he was to recover spectacularly, notching only the second hat-trick by an FPL midfielder this season, only falling short of matching Alexis Sanchez’ Gameweek 14 tally of 23-points due to his early penalty miss.

Deployed in a central striker role in recent matches, King was again played in the No 10 position behind Benik Afobe but found his route to goal nonetheless.

Incredibly, he has now produced eight goals in his last seven Gameweeks and looks an assured starter and vital source of goals for the Cherries for the remainder of the season.

The fixture list may stiffen, but King’s potential to go on providing points for a price tag of just 5.5 will surely drive an instant boom in ownership.

Already more than 10,000 have made the move ahead of the Gameweek 29 home meeting with Swansea City – only Spurs’ Harry Kane has seen more transfers since today’s 2pm deadline.

The availability such a budget midfield option, potentially playing in a striker’s role, could now raise further doubts on relying on a three-man forward line.

Southampton’s Manolo Gabbiadini will be targeted by many once he returns to action but, arguably, with such value available in midfield, there remains a strong case for the 3-5-2.

Certainly, Lukaku looks destined to remain part of our strike force, regardless of formation. He also played a key role in ensuring that the Gameweek 28 tallies will be higher than perhaps expected.

The top captain pick, with 767,000 trusting the striker with the armband, he once again proved his new reassuring level of consistency, particularly at Goodison Park.

Scoring for the fifth consecutive home outing, Lukaku produced a seventh double-figure return and, regardless of the frenzied clamour for Kane ahead of Gameweek 29, his role in our squads surely cannot be questioned.

With three of the next five at home – against Hull City, Leicester City and Burnley – Lukaku will remain locked in and will likely challenge as a captaincy contender over those matches.

While there was disappointment, with Swansea City’s Fernando Llorente failing to provide for his 378,000 new owners having limped off with a dead leg, it seems likely that Gameweek 28 could yet supply some significant scores – particularly if the Liverpool midfield can sparkle at Anfield on Sunday.

Having been flattened by the paltry returns from Manchester City’s midweek failings, Gameweek 28 has already provided unexpected fireworks with Messrs Mane, Coutinho, and perhaps Firmino, yet to take the stage to follow King’s lead.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I can get him back with a single transfer, if sell Mane, but don't know whether it's worth it at the moment.

Shall I sell Sterling? Who to buy?

You could hold or if Llorente is truly hurt, sell for gabby (future move given tough next game). Keep that option to get Sanchez. Hold Sterling for pool match.

Hi - I've been lurking for a while but have just registered ... I like to wheel and deal my way through the season, TM 112.1 / SV 109.7, 95 transfers made, this will be the first year I manage to get to 100 transfers - my target each year is 2000 points

Anyway, I'll be swapping Mane out for Sanchez and glad to find that Sanchez is now the cheaper option ... Yes, he really is!

    Mane = 9.7M / 10 matches = .97MPM
    Sanchez = 11.5 / 12 matches = .96 MPM

Just wanted to share that little thought

      Welcome.

Not sure what your numbers mean but what I take out of it is your target each year is a bit meh. Not sure what 2000 points is relevant to

Unfortunately million per match is quite a useless metric... when deciding which player is cheaper I much prefer to look at their price 😉

fair play. Don't think I've ever set out to achieve a certain amount of points. The figure varies in terms of rank from season to season so not a barometer I would ever use

All things =, Walker (sir name bias notwithstanding). However, the extra 0.7 funds could be handy with Valencia. Not sure if they have equal number of remaining games either. Man Utd may have one more, and if that is accurate, it is another factor to consider.

People buy Gabbiadini and Kane when they have no game last week now people selling Siggy who is close to essential

Early opinions on what to change here please? (1.6itb)

    Cech / jak

Alonso Valencia Coleman / Fmori Nyom

Sterling King Siggy Antonio / Firmino

    Kane Carroll Lukaku

Tempted to get Alli back in but unsure if it's worth a -4. Also need a plan for Sanchez but don't have a clue! Wildcard available also.

    Cheers all

Llorente & Baines killed me today! At one point I only had Luk, Jaku and Siggs playing. Brunt dropped, got to be happy with 36. Mane and Couts to come...

Similar position. Baines missing out on CS points. Llorente and Brunt did me dirty. Firminio and Couts to go

What the hell! I went to bed with King missing a penalty and was chuffed as rivals have him. Woke up to see he'd slotted 3, Baines and Llorente injured and rivals absolutely smashing me.
Is Baines badly injured and what the hell is a dead leg? My team all of a sudden became a mess.

Llorente got a knee in the leg. Dead legs can put players out for a couple of weeks. I had him too, for a hit. Biggest disappointment of Saturday no doubt

I had Llorente and Funes Mori for a hit. Baines coming off was the worst outcome.

See above. Differentiator posted a link to a Ben dinnery tweet saying that Koeman said Baines is fine. So, we need to watch this space. Otherwise, I share your pain on today's events, and yet feel good for those here who did well. We are a community. (A good rationalization goes a long way....)

Gotta take the good with the bad. Got a green arrow overall but I brought in Llorente for Defoe and had no King.
Overall a disappointing feeling when my gut said not to take hits but there ya go, onwards and (hopefully) upwards

Keep an eye out for a need to move Baines and/or Llorente due to minor injuries that derailed both their games early today.

    A) Aguero and Phillips > Kane and Alli -4
    B) Phillips > Pedro (anyone max of 8m)

That pales to playing Rondon for the last 1080 minutes. Dying to pull trigger on Rondon to Kane FT.

    Foster - Jakypovic
    Alonso - Baines - Brunt - Amat - Lenihan
    Mane - Sigurdsson - Lanzini - King - Carrick
    Aguero - Kane - Lukaku

1 FT and 3.2m in the bank.

Brunt :arrow : Vertonghen sounds good?
