Eleven goals from the three matches – a hat-trick from a midfield differential and another double-digit return from Romelu Lukaku – with Liverpool’s attack yet to feature, Gameweek 28 looks destined to punch well above its weight.

Brought in by more than 143,000 ahead of Gameweek 28, second only to Swansea City’s Gylfi Sigurdsson among midfielders, Bournemouth’s Josh King is clearly the headline act so far.

It all started disastrously for King’s legion of new owners, with the Norwegian calmly side-footing his early spot-kick wide to register a -2 deficit.

However, he was to recover spectacularly, notching only the second hat-trick by an FPL midfielder this season, only falling short of matching Alexis Sanchez’ Gameweek 14 tally of 23-points due to his early penalty miss.

Deployed in a central striker role in recent matches, King was again played in the No 10 position behind Benik Afobe but found his route to goal nonetheless.

Incredibly, he has now produced eight goals in his last seven Gameweeks and looks an assured starter and vital source of goals for the Cherries for the remainder of the season.

The fixture list may stiffen, but King’s potential to go on providing points for a price tag of just 5.5 will surely drive an instant boom in ownership.

Already more than 10,000 have made the move ahead of the Gameweek 29 home meeting with Swansea City – only Spurs’ Harry Kane has seen more transfers since today’s 2pm deadline.

The availability such a budget midfield option, potentially playing in a striker’s role, could now raise further doubts on relying on a three-man forward line.

Southampton’s Manolo Gabbiadini will be targeted by many once he returns to action but, arguably, with such value available in midfield, there remains a strong case for the 3-5-2.

Certainly, Lukaku looks destined to remain part of our strike force, regardless of formation. He also played a key role in ensuring that the Gameweek 28 tallies will be higher than perhaps expected.

The top captain pick, with 767,000 trusting the striker with the armband, he once again proved his new reassuring level of consistency, particularly at Goodison Park.

Scoring for the fifth consecutive home outing, Lukaku produced a seventh double-figure return and, regardless of the frenzied clamour for Kane ahead of Gameweek 29, his role in our squads surely cannot be questioned.

With three of the next five at home – against Hull City, Leicester City and Burnley – Lukaku will remain locked in and will likely challenge as a captaincy contender over those matches.

While there was disappointment, with Swansea City’s Fernando Llorente failing to provide for his 378,000 new owners having limped off with a dead leg, it seems likely that Gameweek 28 could yet supply some significant scores – particularly if the Liverpool midfield can sparkle at Anfield on Sunday.

Having been flattened by the paltry returns from Manchester City’s midweek failings, Gameweek 28 has already provided unexpected fireworks with Messrs Mane, Coutinho, and perhaps Firmino, yet to take the stage to follow King’s lead.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    0.1 short for Ibra > Kane and 1 FT.
    Where do I gather it for a hit? Suggestions, please?
    Pickford
    Alonso, Funes, Jones, Brunt
    Mane, Sterling, King, Siggy
    Lukaku, Kun
    Subs: Ibra, Phillips, Amat, Foster

      What looks better?

      A) Coutinho -> Sanchez for a -4 (bench Carroll/Lanzini/Mane)
      B) Bench Cout with the idea of going Cout -> Sanchez & Carroll -> Gabbiadini next week for a -4

      Apparently, I'm the only one who finds the early Aguero to Kane transfers a bit odd.

      Kane hasn't even played, so he could still get injured, and, despite Kane's form, you could argue that Aguero at home to Pool is every bit as good as Kane against a Southampton defense that has actually gotten pretty tight recently (if you look at SoT and big chances and the like).

          Some are getting both Sanchez and Kane this week. Aguero provides money for that . They probably also would not let Pep ruin their season from now on :P.

      A) Kun -> Kane

          Yeah Snoddy looks a poor choice atm. That's why I was think of losing Mane instead of Firmino so long as the latter is still fit. So it's either:

          1)
          GW29: C) above
          GW30: Baines -> Valencia
          GW31: Snoddy -> Theo

          2)
          GW29: B) above
          GW30: Baines -> 4.6m
          GW31: Snoddy -> Theo

        What to do with Lukaku after next week? I've had it planned for a while to sell for Gabbi that week as he has two tough aways (liv, mnu) and Gabbi has two easy homes (BOU, CPL). Gabbi also has 2 x extra fixtures over the season. Problem is, Lukakus form, plus it's only those 2 tough aways for Everton, before they have a nice run of fixtures. Even if you have both Lukaku AND Gabbi, that's 2 spots taken. That only leaves room for Kane, who seems a must. So then your blocking Ibra/Costa etc.

          I'm probably going for Luka, Costa and Kane. Requires some restructuring but worth it I guess... Will get Tadic in midfield for some assists/penos 😛

          Depends on what you will do with the spare cash from selling Luks?

          Gabbi's 2 extra fixtures are vs Arsenal and Mun. Just wait and see for the moment?

          Aguero is currently shorter anytime scorer than Kane for next weekend (Aguero 5/6, Kane 10/11). Walcott is also evens - the same price as Sanchez.......

              Yeah - 4.2m cheaper than Sanchez tempts me though - thinking about getting Theo this week, then Lukaku to Gabbi next week, and then Sanchez in GW31 with the change and having double Arsenal for their decent fixture run (and in prep for the extra DGW they'll have)

                I think I'll just get Sanchez.

                If they have a DGW soon ish I could triple on their attack.

                I take your point and it could work as cover in the short term. No Sanchez for a couple of weeks there is potential for pain.

          People dropping Aguero... I think you may come to regret it.

          The next 3 games look tough on paper, but they're games where Pep and City will thrive. Aguero, in particular, has had a lot of success against Arsenal and Chelsea.

          Watching the highlights today (granted against Boro), City look an absolute force when they play their best attackers.

          The way forward is Aguero and Kane, not just Kane.

              Zaha Tadic Mata Gabbi Defoe will also be great to consider as differentials.

                      Agreed. Was great to watch to watch the fluidity and joy back in the team.

          Heaton Jaku

          Want to get Kane in ASAP. Need to take a hit to do it this week. Is the below sensible for a hit this week?

          Haz, Llorente* -> T. Carroll, Kane (-4)
          *Or A. Carroll depending on injury update.

            He's going to be a big cap pick along with Kaku, tough decision, maybe wait and decide later in the week if you can. See you're dumping 2 who could also go big, tricky.
