Eleven goals from the three matches – a hat-trick from a midfield differential and another double-digit return from Romelu Lukaku – with Liverpool’s attack yet to feature, Gameweek 28 looks destined to punch well above its weight.

Brought in by more than 143,000 ahead of Gameweek 28, second only to Swansea City’s Gylfi Sigurdsson among midfielders, Bournemouth’s Josh King is clearly the headline act so far.

It all started disastrously for King’s legion of new owners, with the Norwegian calmly side-footing his early spot-kick wide to register a -2 deficit.

However, he was to recover spectacularly, notching only the second hat-trick by an FPL midfielder this season, only falling short of matching Alexis Sanchez’ Gameweek 14 tally of 23-points due to his early penalty miss.

Deployed in a central striker role in recent matches, King was again played in the No 10 position behind Benik Afobe but found his route to goal nonetheless.

Incredibly, he has now produced eight goals in his last seven Gameweeks and looks an assured starter and vital source of goals for the Cherries for the remainder of the season.

The fixture list may stiffen, but King’s potential to go on providing points for a price tag of just 5.5 will surely drive an instant boom in ownership.

Already more than 10,000 have made the move ahead of the Gameweek 29 home meeting with Swansea City – only Spurs’ Harry Kane has seen more transfers since today’s 2pm deadline.

The availability such a budget midfield option, potentially playing in a striker’s role, could now raise further doubts on relying on a three-man forward line.

Southampton’s Manolo Gabbiadini will be targeted by many once he returns to action but, arguably, with such value available in midfield, there remains a strong case for the 3-5-2.

Certainly, Lukaku looks destined to remain part of our strike force, regardless of formation. He also played a key role in ensuring that the Gameweek 28 tallies will be higher than perhaps expected.

The top captain pick, with 767,000 trusting the striker with the armband, he once again proved his new reassuring level of consistency, particularly at Goodison Park.

Scoring for the fifth consecutive home outing, Lukaku produced a seventh double-figure return and, regardless of the frenzied clamour for Kane ahead of Gameweek 29, his role in our squads surely cannot be questioned.

With three of the next five at home – against Hull City, Leicester City and Burnley – Lukaku will remain locked in and will likely challenge as a captaincy contender over those matches.

While there was disappointment, with Swansea City’s Fernando Llorente failing to provide for his 378,000 new owners having limped off with a dead leg, it seems likely that Gameweek 28 could yet supply some significant scores – particularly if the Liverpool midfield can sparkle at Anfield on Sunday.

Having been flattened by the paltry returns from Manchester City’s midweek failings, Gameweek 28 has already provided unexpected fireworks with Messrs Mane, Coutinho, and perhaps Firmino, yet to take the stage to follow King’s lead.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Basically fitting in to at least hit the mean average for most managers. If you're happy with your rank, you only differential through captain picks essentially. My take

Get points and cutting through the OR is fun. Plus you can still have a few differentials in your team to spice things up.

Never harmed Villa Ronka has it lol, I did find it fun playing that style for a couple of seasons. Glad I've changed tactics this time out and done 40 billion transfers like I have, though I'm angry at my relatively poor rank of 140k. 😀

Ville Ronka is actually more maverick than some think. Try to guess his moves over a few weeks, no chance you'll be able to. He does like taking educated punts.

Connor Mcgregor is the one that posts on it but from what I can tell it is about owning players with the highest percentage ownership.

Safe and sensible moves get you so far, this season has probably taken longer than normal to see results in rankings. Top bracket take pots at certain times. Im always wanting better, so don't bask in a success or wallow in a fail. Knee jerking usually creates more problems than solutions.

Joking aside, it really depends on what you want to achieve in the game should determine your enjoyment. Whether it's winning mini league, overall rank

For me it's waiting to see when dgw get decided and which ones. If they fit some in in earlier weeks it will depend who I have. I have lost leagues in past by buying players for dgw over several weeks and not actually buying players for those weeks so don't want to fall for that again

We don't know who will have DGWs when yet. I'd wait til that's arranged, at least.

The earlier you do it, the more chance the players you get for the DGWs get injured / dropped / out of form.

I don't see how when it occurs is relevant

I wouldn't WC to get a team just for that 1 week like 8 weeks out. I would fix my team up and strike the right balance. Then use FTs wisely for DGW players

You reveal your hand early to rivals in your ML. Plus any dgw players you bring in early have a chance of injury.

If you can wait use it before a dgw so you can bring in players who are showing good form.

Gabbi comes back to play Spurs and you could wait on Sanchez a week or two to see how he is playing after the bust-up.

I'm thinking Defoe as I think it's that time for Sunderland to do their usual get out of jail thing.

Not worth it for 1 week. Rose could be back for GW30 due to the international break.

KDB to Sanchez. Kept him back especially for Alexis.

I'd never drop Mané. Pool have excellent fixtures after City. No Europe and FA cup. I can see Pool have a stong finish to the season.

Yep GW31 for Mane then to cover Pool in a -4 Coutinho for Siggy.. That is if he proves he's still someway interested

56 with Heaton, Mané (C) and Firmino (hopefully) to play.

Funny how things work out, if it wasn't for Phillips' injury I wouldn't have brought King in.

I have a few rules for next season.
#1 Never ever get more than 1 WBA player ever.
#2 Make sure that WBA player is the same one Mark gets.

So much preparation and such freaking bad return with Llorente and Baines fails, all rivals have less players but King, captain Lukaku of course
    So much luck
I see my captain Mane will get me 4 pts tomorrow as last nail in a coffin
