Eleven goals from the three matches – a hat-trick from a midfield differential and another double-digit return from Romelu Lukaku – with Liverpool’s attack yet to feature, Gameweek 28 looks destined to punch well above its weight.

Brought in by more than 143,000 ahead of Gameweek 28, second only to Swansea City’s Gylfi Sigurdsson among midfielders, Bournemouth’s Josh King is clearly the headline act so far.

It all started disastrously for King’s legion of new owners, with the Norwegian calmly side-footing his early spot-kick wide to register a -2 deficit.

However, he was to recover spectacularly, notching only the second hat-trick by an FPL midfielder this season, only falling short of matching Alexis Sanchez’ Gameweek 14 tally of 23-points due to his early penalty miss.

Deployed in a central striker role in recent matches, King was again played in the No 10 position behind Benik Afobe but found his route to goal nonetheless.

Incredibly, he has now produced eight goals in his last seven Gameweeks and looks an assured starter and vital source of goals for the Cherries for the remainder of the season.

The fixture list may stiffen, but King’s potential to go on providing points for a price tag of just 5.5 will surely drive an instant boom in ownership.

Already more than 10,000 have made the move ahead of the Gameweek 29 home meeting with Swansea City – only Spurs’ Harry Kane has seen more transfers since today’s 2pm deadline.

The availability such a budget midfield option, potentially playing in a striker’s role, could now raise further doubts on relying on a three-man forward line.

Southampton’s Manolo Gabbiadini will be targeted by many once he returns to action but, arguably, with such value available in midfield, there remains a strong case for the 3-5-2.

Certainly, Lukaku looks destined to remain part of our strike force, regardless of formation. He also played a key role in ensuring that the Gameweek 28 tallies will be higher than perhaps expected.

The top captain pick, with 767,000 trusting the striker with the armband, he once again proved his new reassuring level of consistency, particularly at Goodison Park.

Scoring for the fifth consecutive home outing, Lukaku produced a seventh double-figure return and, regardless of the frenzied clamour for Kane ahead of Gameweek 29, his role in our squads surely cannot be questioned.

With three of the next five at home – against Hull City, Leicester City and Burnley – Lukaku will remain locked in and will likely challenge as a captaincy contender over those matches.

While there was disappointment, with Swansea City’s Fernando Llorente failing to provide for his 378,000 new owners having limped off with a dead leg, it seems likely that Gameweek 28 could yet supply some significant scores – particularly if the Liverpool midfield can sparkle at Anfield on Sunday.

Having been flattened by the paltry returns from Manchester City’s midweek failings, Gameweek 28 has already provided unexpected fireworks with Messrs Mane, Coutinho, and perhaps Firmino, yet to take the stage to follow King’s lead.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Not going to do it yet, but is it worth getting Sanchez in for next week, I'd do:
    Eriksen & Carroll -> Sanchez & Kane for a -4

Most definitely. You need to win 3-4 weeks out of the next 5 and get the gap to 75 points. I promise you 75 points appears like 25 to the leader when it's been cut by 50 points in 5 weeks. There will be hits taken, DGWs, rotations etc that will influence things further.

Hopefully it works out for you.

I'm going to hold off on mine until Ruth tells us all when the best time is to use it and I'll use it then.

Must admit i agreed with a lot of his points on it.. particularly waiting so long you may not get the benefits of it over a couple of weeks.. but again everyone is in a different situation regarding teams and ML's etc so for that reason i find it weird it's even discussed at such length.. i decided on it and had my team put together inside half an hour last night.. no messing around

Aye i don't get the whole lengthy discussion stuff it isn't that interesting and as you say it's all down to what you are trying to do individually there is no right way.

Like for me today top of one of my mini leagues played his wildcard this week and i was delighted.

The chap at the top of mine had already played his and every other chip so that influenced my decision to as he is over 100 ahead.. the other guy in the mix used his WC too so if i hadn't i was a goner..

The fixtures will dictate the wildcard. If there are a couple of consecutive DGWs i could end up playing it maybe in GW32 or 33 potentially for back to back DGWs like last season.

I was set on 30 decided other day but the thought of going in this week with 9 and a -8 including Rondons and Fletchers didn't float my boat.. i had to go in fresh clear the decks and get my beloved Harold back in for the run in.. he is primed and ready for next week with Delle and Tony V.. i'm vulnerable only in the case of an injury crisis but i'll take the risk to keep the momentum going.. 5 greens in 6

                              Push on man.

I think I'll take a hit for Kane and Sanchez.

Might get word on a DGW soon too so I'll not go to made on planning or worry about some of the Brock i have.

                              I want Gabbiadinni.

Gunna hold fire on Sanchez i think.. actually Walcott is a likely route for me but will see how it pans out.. Had Gabbi penciled in for my GW 30 wc team but held back cause he blanked this week and Toby will pocket him next week..

I see Arsenal having a double sometime soon so I'll load to the balls with gunners attack if so.

Add a couple of Mané assists in and it would be brilliant.

King (SWA) is a serious captain choice next week surely. Bournemouth playing better now and clearly scoring well.

Obviously Lukaku (HUL) and Kane (SOT) would be hard not to captain however.

Evening chaps. Hoping Mane (c) & Coutinho produce for me tomorrow but overall can't be disappointed with 32 today.

Quick one: Llorente to Kane tonight for free?

            A. Carroll
            B. Llorente

            Cheers 😉
