The shortened Gameweek 28 comes to a conclusion this afternoon when Liverpool entertain Burnley at Anfield.

With Sadio Mane and Philippe Coutinho both among the top 10 players transferred in this week, many Fantasy managers will be hoping the Liverpool midfield duo can wreak havoc against a Burnley side that has managed just one clean sheet on their travels this season.

Mane has produced five double-figure hauls at Anfield, helping explain why over 8% of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bosses have handed the Senegal international the captain’s armband.

Coutinho, meanwhile, found the back of the net in the 3-1 defeat to Leicester City in Gameweek 26, and slowly looks to be returning to his best form.

Roberto Firmino was also brought in by over 103,000 FPL managers, but the Brazilian has been ruled out due to a knock, with Divock Origi taking his place in the starting XI.

The Reds will have to get past Tom Heaton though, who returns for Burnley after missing the 3-2 defeat to Swansea City due to illness, providing a boost for his 19% ownership in FPL.

Liverpool did, of course, lose 2-0 to the Clarets in the reverse fixture in Gameweek 2, and will be hoping to improve on their dismal record against teams from the bottom half, having lost to Swansea City, Hull City and Leicester over the last six Gameweeks.

I have a similar team and considering wild card. You don't want 2 pool players and that strike force needs an upgrade. Struggling to see benefit of saving it to so late in the season

    Current team:

    Jaku
    Alonso - Walker - Brunt - Coleman
    King - Mane - Sigurdsson
    Costa - Llorente - Lukaku

    Mannone, Snoddy, Robertson, T. Carroll
    1 FT, 7.0 INB

Glad I hadn't transferred out Llorente for Kane yet.
Not sure what to use my FT for. The basic question for me is whether or not to play Brunt. Can we expect Arsenal to bounce back with a win? They always seem to after getting KO'd in Champions League, but they've got mixed results against Pulis teams, especially away :/

I was going to do Aguero > Kane, but now I may keep Kun and downgrade Mane to Sane. Liverpool are only blistering against the big teams, Mane doesn't seem worth the investment, but other than keeping Kun I really have no where else to spend the funds.

Sorry, definitely not getting rid of him yet, just think long term he might not be worth his price, but I got him at £9.3m anyway and have a good squad value. Kane getting injured has thrown a massive spanner in the works for me, I feel Aguero is the same in that he shows his true worth in the big games, just means I'll have to hold off getting Sanchez back and keep Barkley for an extra week too.

certainly keeping for the City game. they are liable to do very well.

beyond that is not forseeable . . . a lot can happen, especially with an int'l break in there.

i want to go into the long break with 2 FT's. (i would have brought Kane in tonight, but that's not happening now.)

        1. Jersey
          • 10 Years
          9 years, 4 months ago

then swap for Eriksen . . . but this is how i'd look at it.

I just brought Coutinho in, for what amounts to a -5 (assuming he took the place of a blank player) if I swap him now. Liverpool has been playing much better against top teams than weaker teams for a while now . . . Burnley is a harder fixture for him (especially without his partner Firmino) than City is, if recent history has any validity.

a double digit score for any of the 3 top 'pool mids is not out of the question next week. and then there's 2 home games to follow.

      no he is not, imo.

too much turmoil going on there . . . an int'l break coming up next (and we all know what can happen).

plus, Liverpool have been giving the top teams fits. i'd hold Coutinho and Mane for that game and go into
      the break with 2 FT's.

Similar. Net 27. Firmino, Llorente, Baines, brunt, and then kane (who I held through). Bad captain choice as well. Could very well have been the worst ever given the net outcome relative to competition, plus four injuries. Maybe we'll get the opposite result next gw.

Haven't sorted it all out, but I think I'm looking at one of the two below options for the next few weeks. (Barring injuries) Which looks stronger to you?

close one . . . just looked at your team. i think i'd want to get into the int'l break with 2 frees (now that Harry is gone), and assess it for GW 30.

i'd certainly be keep Cout and Firm for City (making the assumption F is healthy). they're liable to give them fits.

you need a healthy Baines this week, of course.

        Thanks, Jersey.

It's amazing how one poor decision (Coutinho over Lukaku as captain) then makes me possibly feel the urgency to do more. If I would have chosen the right captain this week I'd probably feel better about saving.

So, if I save, would you start Rondon (ARS) or Grosicki (eve)?

        1. Jersey
          • 10 Years
          9 years, 4 months ago

Rondon. (pity he isn't a healthy Harry Kane right now . . . i assume that was the plan).

i know his fantasy numbers this year, but he is a good football player who knows where the goal is. he was rested last week so he is a certain starter, since Pulis loves him. he's at home, and things are a bit haywire at Arsenal. he could nick one.

Grosicki has looked very good, but Hull is away and points may be hard to come by at Goodison.

That's what I was thinking, too.

Maybe it's just blind love or loyalty, but I've held onto Rondon because I really rate him as a footballer and think he's been unlucky not to get returns lately.

I think you are a Hammers fan. Any reason to think Snod gets his spot back, as that is the other advantage to moving on from him?

            1. Jersey
              • 10 Years
              9 years, 4 months ago

i'm giving Snodgrass another week at least. i think he should start. Feghouli was horrible this week, and that right wing is where Snoddy plays best. Noble is also at risk of losing his spot, i think. but then there is Andre Ayew, who deserves to start and will, i think. . . so it is a bit crowded there.

your bench is thin. either Grosicki or Snoddy in the first spot, i guess, as it is now. if Baines is ruled out, i guess you'll be forced to make a move for a defender. you can't count on Amat to play.

Feghouli really was bad. I guess we shall see.

Baines to Valencia is an easy one - and one I planned for GW30 anyway - if the injury seems worse than Koeman first led on.

Thanks for the feedback. Stay safe with the snow, rain and wind. I'm down in Georgia for the month to get away from the crappy weather, but my sister is in Stone Harbor, so I've kept up with the weather there.

Fantastic. Can't get the image of a Sesame Street character with flying jizz out of my head now though. Thanks.

Oh right. I don't know then. Maybe something was added later which was bad! Who knows 🙂
