With 13 days remaining until domestic action resumes, we thought we’d remind you of the two Fantasy Football Scout cups that are still open to enter.

As mentioned last week, we have launched our 14th open-to-all tournament, along with a tenth Members competition.

We are offering up £350 in Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk vouchers for the final top three managers in both tournaments.

Non-members can sign up to the open tournament here.

Our members can sign up to both tournaments, via entry forms here and here.

Timetable

The qualifying round for both Cups was Gameweek 29, with the first round running in Gameweek 30.

It’s not too late to get involved, though, if you haven’t done so already.

Fantasy managers can enter their teams from now right up to 10.30am on Monday March 27 – ie, a week today – when we’ll stop entry and make the first round draws shortly after.

The first round will consist of 512 teams and, as usual, all the previous winners who enter will gain a bye into the first round draw, where they will join the top scorers from Gameweek 29.

Previous winners must enter with the same usernames to gain their bye.

Both these cup competitions will be played out according to the following Gameweek schedule:

FFS Cups Round Dates
Qualifying – Gameweek 29
Round 1 – 512 teams – Gameweek 30
Round 2 – 256 teams – Gameweek 31
Round 3 – 128 teams – Gameweek 32
Round 4 – 64 teams – Gameweek 33
Round 5 – 32 teams – Gameweek 34
Round 6 – 16 teams – Gameweek 35
Quarter-Final – 8 teams – Gameweek 36
Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 37
Final and third place play-off – 2 teams – Gameweek 38

When are the fixtures released?
The fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline. The first round draw will be made and published shortly after March 27.

Prizes

Overall prizes

1st Place: £200 Amazon voucher
2nd Place: £100 Voucher
3rd Place: £50 Voucher

Entry Details

After entering the cups via the links above, you will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry.

You’ll also be asked to confirm your FPL team id at the point of entry – please be sure to click the link to verify that your team is correct before confirming. If you FPL team is incorrectly entered, we cannot amend this at a later date.

Your FPL Id is your unique Id for your FPL team. This is found via your Gameweek History page – the link to which is found in the right hand menu under your FPL team strip. When you visit your Gameweek History you will see a number in the URL (as opposed to the XXX below).

https://fantasy.premierleague.com/a/entry/XXX/history

Place this 1-7 digit number or your Gameweek History URL in the FPL id field on the entry form.

You entry is only confirmed once you have confirmed your FPL team Id as part of the process.

To check that you’re entered correctly, please scan the list of current entries.

We ask you to supply a FFScout username so we can feature you, as a member of our community, in any articles associated with the tournament. Ideally, you will already have a username with us but this is not essential to enter. You must, however, supply a username for the purpose of the tournament so you can be identified in articles.

You must not change this username throughout the course of the tournament. Should you do so without permission, or should you enter multiple teams or if your FFS account comes under moderation for any reason, we reserve the right to remove you from a tournament.

Thanks TM - Love this spreadsheet to see common posters OR if for nothing else.

Can't believe Mark is up to 491 OR, that's some comeback from last year's disaster.

Am pleased that I am still just marginally above Ruth_NZ too in OR

But still behind TM at 1,064 OR

Avran Punk is intriguing me though with a GW score of 88 and an OR of 4,221,069

The developers of FPL have launched a brand new game - Fantasy Eliteserien (Norwegian league): https://fantasy.eliteserien.no/

The site is currently only in Norwegian but it's fairly easy to register and use if you're used to FPL. The concept, rules and everything is the same as FPL (only difference is no chips and only 1 WC).

Season will have 30 GWs between April and November. 1/3 of the season will be played during the off-season in FPL so this game could soften the summer blow for fantasy footy junkies. Lord Bendtner is the most expensive player at 12.5m.

I've created a FFS league for those who are interested. Code is: 3769-1041

If there is enough interest then I'm more than willing to provide a community article with players to watch out for prior to GW1.

Depending on how good you are with languages. 😎
I can understand the basics if a Norwegian speaks, some words are difficult to grasp unless you have time to figure it out. It's a lot worse with Danish.
It also depends on where they're from, if it's a special dialect then it's no use in trying 😆

You need 3 from Rosenborg. Captain a Rosenborg player every week regardless of who they play. That will take you far.

Thanks for this, I've joined up. A quick question if you have a moment, on the site in the 'How to play' section it says 2 wildcards in the season, is that right?. I did use Google translate (into English).

I e-mailed the support at the site and they confirmed two wildcards in a season. They didn't specify which gameweeks are the spring and autumn, perhaps some one here knows, this was the message I got back:

There will be two Wildcards throughout the season.
One in the spring season, and another in the autumn season.

            From the rules:
"..ett mellom runde 2 og 17, og det andre etter sommerpausen, mellom runde 18 og 30"

There's a summer break in the middle of the season. So you can use your wildcard before or after that GWs 2-17 or 18-30.

As a Norwegian, I follow the Norwegian top division surprisingly little, but I find it interesting that they've gotten the same developers to set up the fantasy game. Think I might give it a try this season.

Dyngeland 4,5 from Sogndal, Rutlin 4,0 his backup. Will be the Norwegian version of Heaton/Robinson combo for Burnley. Good CS chances at home, lots of saves away.

A minor thing I noticed from the rules:

        BONUSPOENG

Which basically means the good old "Man in the stand" is back! 8)

There is no bonus point system based on stats from OPTA or whatever. As in FPL seasons up to 10-11 (?), bonus points were awarded by a jury of experts/journalists who decide whos been the best players in the game.

Entered. Insanely hard to pick midfielders when you have no idea about them. Also, most of the players who performed well last season have moved on, which makes things even more of an effort.

Yeah, its a classic issue for Norwegian fantasy games this. It often happens midseason too, as the hot strikers in the spring will be picked up by various Belgian, Austrian and German 2. Bundesliga clubs.

Howewer, for midfielders this season, one of Helland and Jensen is a must. (Beware of Hellands injury record, but he is the most explosive of the two). Zahid is great, but has blank streaks that can last 10 games. In 8,5 and 7,5 there are loads of great options, ie Zekhnini, Lanlay, Svendsen (gametime issues but will also play as a striker), Hajradinovic and Adegbenro are all good choices imho.

I've only managed to pick Jensen for those which is worrying.

            Team is:

            Leciejewski / Dyngeland
            Ruud / Hanche-Olsen/ GLesnes / Ulvestad / Skaasheim
Jensen / Koomson / Riski / Erne Male / Carlsen
            Bendtner / Occean / Bamba

No idea how many of those aren't regular starters.

Your strikers are great, but the rest of team is suffering I'd say. I dont really know which budget defenders that are the best, but 5,0 on a Kristiansund defender is not a good option i think. And Koomson in the 7,5 is not my choice, Sogndal is a very defensive team and I wouldnt expect many goals from any of their players.

I have taken some of the advice on here and filled in the gaps with ownership and come up with the following team—

        Dyngelang Rutlin
        Ruud Reginiussen Norbye Ryerson Granli
        Helland Jensen Zahid Hussain Sodlund
        Sigurdarsson Agdestein Flo

        2.0 million in the bank.

I am not sure Reginiussen is the best Rosenberg defender, and I would prefer not to have two keepers from the same team, but I am not sure who else to choose.

        Thoughts?

        1. Al Bundy
          • 12 Years
          8 years, 9 months ago

Agdestein will probably be backup striker for Occean, so I'd look for other options there with your spare cash. Midfield looks great, and we have almost the exact same defence + keepers. I prefer Reginiussen as RBK defender, guess he will be the most nailed (though he has a bad injury history)

Thanks for the advice. Abdellaoue, Mos and Borven look like the best candidates to replace Agdestein. Abdellaoue plays for the same team as Zahid which puts me off, Brann have the fourth shortest odds for the title so Borven might be good, Mos I do not know.

I think Abdellaoue or even Finne is the best option then, or take a look at Stromsgodset. Brann were really defensive last year, and had loads of 1-0 wins. Valerenga with Deila will probably be a lot more offensive and outscore Brann by some goals.

        Equivelant FPL ranks for Eliteserien—

        FPL Rank / 176 = Eliteserien rank
        Eliteserien Rank x 176 = FPL Rank

        Is Reg still Captain?
Skjelvik I do know well from his time here in Sweden, quite the assisting machine. Safe starter?

        Hansen (Dyngeland)
        Ruud, Nouri, Skaasheim (Norbye, Granli)
        Jensen, Zahid, Svendsen, Carlsen, Njie

Lovely to see one of the Riise brothers (Bjorn) in the game along with Morten Gaamst Pedersen.

Good point. And with Gabbi/Llorente not looking great as third strikers atm, could use the funds to wait and upgrade to Ibra. That could be the smart move

Deeney could be a short term solution for Llorente/Gabbi, very underrated on here and quietly going about his business

Llorente or Gabbi to Deeney a bit sideways for me. 3 players with good fixtures (less true for Gabbi but he has doubles coming) and form could be patchy for all of them.

I would have Bertrand in a heartbeat in the old VVD/Fonte days but he's a bit too expensive for me now that CS are harder to come by. Yoshida for me. I don't mind benching him most weeks for that price and just wheel him out for the DGWs.

Yeah but they have the ball winning machine Romeau to shield the back four. They could keep a couple CS

Hope so but they did concede 3 to Watford and 3 to West Ham with Romeu and no VVD.

I wonder will they start playing the new guy Caceres soon? He is scaring me off from getting Stephens but who knows maybe he will take Yoshida's place instead?

It depends if / when you are playing your WC.
If you have spare cash and the WC to play just after, it's best to go for Bertrand than Yoshida...

I would not want to own Yoshida. Him or Stephens can drop out of the XI without any notice. Cedric if you want value, else spend on Bertrand.

      4. April Fool Scheduling for Man Utd

        8 years, 9 months ago

There have been some discussions on Man United players, DGWs and rotation of the squad.
April will be a busy month for the club, fighting for a CL spot in two competitions. Out of the top 6 in the league, they have the least favourable fixtures, and with games in Europe, they will se some rotation.

        Fixture list April:
        01.04: MU v WBA
        04.04: MU vs EVE
        09.04: SUN vs MU
        13.04: Anderlecht vs MU (EL)
        16.04: MU vs CHE
        20.04: MU vs Anderlecht (EL)
        23.04: BUR vs MU
        27.04: MAC vs MU
        30.04: MU vs SWA

I am no expert, but I think it’s safe to assume that even the immortals (Ibra & Valencia) will see some of the games from the bench. I expect Mourinho to field a strong XI away to Anderlecht (they are not that bad, currently no. 1 in their domestic league) and he will also need his best players against Chelsea and Man City.
Could this mean that Valencia and/or Ibra are rested (=benched) against Burnley in the DGW?

DDG, Valencia and Ibra are the only stand out picks in my opinion. Too much risk-vs-reward in the defense (Bailly, Smalling, Rojo, Jones, Young, Darmian..), but Mhki and Mata could be interesting as differentials/punts.
Any thoughts? I would love some input.

I gotta agree with all you say.....still think Valencia worth getting in now.....usually have two def subs to cover in case of a now show.

If going down the Ibra route, which I still think will be fruitful, then make sure 5th mid/3rd fwd is decent. I currently have Capoue. He is not decent.

Other than that, I don't think I'll take much more risk.

I guess a good way of looking at it are the players that do at least come on even if they don't start.

If anyone has any stats on number of sub appearances that may be useful. I'd take a player that started and played 30 in the next match potentially.

Good post, that is some fixture congestion! Agree with the 3 you mention as picks, with all the other players currently looking too risky. Man U have such a large squad they are a rotation nightmare at the best of times, let alone with this many fixtures.

I'm not even convinced Ibra is essential, he's been in my team for 2 seperate spells this season, and despite producing on occasion, for his price i'm still not entirely convinced he is good value. The team as a whole just don't seem set up to score many goals, whereas they do seem quite well set up to stop opponents scoring. Thats why I'm considering investing in only DDG (already own Valencia).

That is a lot of games.

Only nailed player is likely to be DeGea.

I reckon you might get more minutes out of top front line SGW players than Man U doubles in GW34, which would cause unprecedented 'scenes' and uproar from those that play their WC in GW33 for a DGW34 BB?

I think Ibrahimovic, De Gea and Valencia are nailed.

Ibrahimovic will get plenty of rest in these suspensions.

De Gea is a GK, so no need for explaining.

Valencia is a machine imo. Even in the 90th minute against Boro, he was running and chasing the ball leading him to a goal.

As Mourinho has been using the 3-4-3 formation lately with three CBs, I think CBs are also worth a punt. Only one of Jones, Bailly, Rojo and Smalling will get benched in that formation. We can keep a close eye as to which CBs is starting the most games till the DGWs.

Mkhitaryan got a rest against Boro so he is also worth considering.

Rotation isn't the only threat to minutes either. Anyone who plays this number of games is going to be more prone to injury. It really could be a lottery but the likes of Ibra and Valencia are probably still worth the risk due to the potential upside.

The farce that is some of the vents of this season is epitomised by the fact that Walker is NOT flagged.

By all and every account and precedent set by players such as Baines in earlier gameweeks, he SHOULD be flagged.

          Terrible consistency, really is.

I'm actually not particularly excited about ManU either. In fact, Middlesbrough fixtures look the nicest maybe somebody from their attack.

But the point is that I'm not going to mess my team up to get 9 DGW'rs for those matches.

Me too. I got rid of Alli for Sterling when he had a DGW, turned out to be a minor disaster 😆

Did the same mistake last season, have to be more cautious with my SGW players!

          So, until next deadline, which is the best move;

          a) Sterling -> Eriksen
          b) Brunt -> Valencia

Few pretty obvious things but may help any beginners if on wildcard now:

Get Davies and Stephens in. Outside chance of a double rise (highly doubt double rise but should rise once) and Rose/VVD could have a setback and miss the season. If not, just get rid of them pre-deadline.

Alli, Eriksen, Vardy, Costa, King will all probably double rise from this point, even if you don't intend to keep, if you've got a spare spot, stick them in there. Could nick one or two .1's

Don't sell the players you've got a lot of value tied up until you're absolutely sure you'll be selling (Coleman, Lukaku, King etc). Chances are they'll rise this week and may earn you .1 before you sell, plus you may have a change of heart and want to keep, will go to buy back and you'll find your half a million out of pocket.

              Good advices. 🙂

Although every international break this season have been quite disappointing when it comes to price changes. Don't think that many will rise, maybe Lukaku/Vardy and Alli could all rise twice but doubt it will be any more than that.
I guess a couple of people also activated their WC.

What are your thoughts on GW34 forward line... Ibra has to be there... Kane has to be there (if he's fit, same goes for Ibra of course)... So it's the third striker that's giving me a headache... Currently it's Lukaku obviously, but can you afford Ibra - Kane - Lukaku? That's one expensive front 3 right there...

Yes. But have Zaha, Redmond and another in mdifield. All a gamble. Do you go heavy in midfield or heavy up front?

Technically they could win it in a couple of GWs if the teams below them lose their next games. But realistically it will probably be after GW34.

10 points clear so they could win it by GW35. Earlier than that if other teams drop points. Their assets may end up being fool's gold in DGW37.

              Heaton, (Pickford)
              Alonso, Baines, Brunt (Evans, Chambers)
              Sanchez, Mane, Coutinho, Eriksen, Siggy
              Lukaku, Llorente, Barnes

              1FT, £3.0m ITB.

In this situation, would you look to stick to 3-5-2 or move to 3-4-3 in the coming weeks?

Many might have TC'd Kun too early looking at that GW37 double.

A lot of my current team have great fixtures in 34
With a few transfers up to then I can easily get 15 players out all with very good fixtures and enough with doubles ...
I could bench boost in 34

Wildcard 35 ready for the later ones

37 looks much better for BB. I don't even want more than 3 DGW players in 34.

Eh? You can only have 9 DGWers max in GW34, why would any of them be on your bench?

I'll have Valdes, Gibson & Negredo on my bench by then probably - then GW35 WC, it makes sense. It's only the bench players that matter for bench boost - you can still have DGW players in your GW37 team.

If you BB in GW37, you get a maximum of 30 games from your players. You can't get that in GW34.

                          In theory

The last 4 for the 37ers are not going to that great though.

A 34er may be 4 players down overall but gets a wider more selective pick and can play in 35 , 36 or even straight in 37

I agree with the theory above.
BB is a chip about 4 players more than the 11 you would normally play.
                    Not about 15 players.

              @Camp No No....

DGW37 will be a points jamboree but it won't really be as good as we'd like.

Consider how many will have players already in their squads with DGW's in the run up to GW37.

For instance...and I'll do as a case in point. I already have Alonso Walker Valencia Yoshida in my defence...and that's a fairly common defence.
I have Sanchez Eriksen in midfield and will be getting Hazard.

Ibra will of course be in ready for the DGW34 (as he will be in every team) along with Valencia .Gabbii will be driven in for the Soton DGW...blah blah blah.. And those players will stay for most for DGW37.

The game is driving everybody into a very template GW37 either with or without a WC and with high ownership(%)...plus the fixtures will push them to replicate each others additional picks.

I can easily see most teams having more than ten DGW37 players with not much effort at all.....just left overs from what's gone before. Does that make sense?

Yes, but the strength of the WC doesn't come after it, but before it... People without WC will have to slowly be getting the players in now, whereas with WC, say in GW35, you can have fun in GW34 and then WC to what everyone else already have... plus with WC you get those few differentials for free of charge as well... Fine margins, yes, but fine margins can win you a Mini League... All you need is 1 point more than your rivals 😉

The issue is those with good fixtures in 34 also have good fixtures in 37 so you'll want the same players

Not Boro and Palace and Chelsea players though... As I said, it's a very fine margin, but it still is there...

That's my point. They won't have to slowly get them in, the game will bring them in for them in effect just because how the game is panning out.

If we accept that most have Chelsea and Spurs defender an that Valencia has already joined them or will be joining prior to DGW34 then the defence is already set for DGW37 (likely most would get Bellerin/Yoshida) as well for that DGW 35/36)

In a similar way everybody has Eriksen/Alli and will add Sanchez to that for the Arsenal DGW.

Ibra will get added to Costa/Vardy...and ditch Lukaku...

                  Blah blah blah....

What I'm saying is that if wee accept most already have maybe 7 DGW 37 players then the way the fixtures/DGW fixtures are panning out the game is driving an additional five or six picks into DGW37 by default.

The fact that DGW34 is a bit poor will have a knock on effect of increasing the number of DGW37 picks because not many will ditch what they currently have for DGW34.

DGW34 might not be poor though, the advantage with the WC is that you can try your luck in it with players that aren't on your list... It might not work out though, but at least you won't get left behind... Agree with you that the difference is not great and it would have been greater with a better DGW34...

We could indeed take the chance but it's very risky if we assume the game will be uninspired by it and fail to sell the top picks they already have.

It may however be the only way to get a big advantage for those willing to take the big risk.

Plus it's still a squad of 15 players that you play with and you need 'em all for BB, so WC helps to sort to last three or four places in people's teams, the rest being similar like you say..

Plus with WC you can easily create the most optimal team structure for the DGW Bench Boost, whereas you might need to take a hit or two to go about it with FTs...

I still think managers with WC left do have the upper hand here...

That would be my estimate (as above). The game will drive most to have at least ten DGW37 players just by default now. The best that can be hoped for would be three or four extra players over those that did very little prep....if any prep at all.

                          Oh aye....for sure.

What WCers really need is for a couple of those DGW37 games to move to DGW35/36 with Arsenal/Soton....then it's fully advantage WC

Which kind of makes the wildcard not as useful as we thought and won't create as big a rank jump as playing it earlier to get the benefits over a longer period

Correct. What it needed was for both of DGW34 and DGW37 to look like points jamborees and for a lot of people to have sold the picks they already had for DGW37 for DGW34 picks

Now it looks like they'll very mainly stick hold of their DGW37 picks with Ibra, Valencia and Sanchez further diluting the benefit of that later WC.

As someone who used my WC last week, this has worked out well for me. I already have 11 players that will have a DGW in GW37. For GW34, I have Valencia, will get Ibra and maybe swap out King for Zaha for another punt. Other than that, I am happy enough going with my single GW players.
