FFS Cup

The Scout Cups Reminder

With 13 days remaining until domestic action resumes, we thought we’d remind you of the two Fantasy Football Scout cups that are still open to enter.

As mentioned last week, we have launched our 14th open-to-all tournament, along with a tenth Members competition.

We are offering up £350 in Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk vouchers for the final top three managers in both tournaments.

Non-members can sign up to the open tournament here.

Our members can sign up to both tournaments, via entry forms here and here.

Timetable

The qualifying round for both Cups was Gameweek 29, with the first round running in Gameweek 30.

It’s not too late to get involved, though, if you haven’t done so already.

Fantasy managers can enter their teams from now right up to 10.30am on Monday March 27 – ie, a week today – when we’ll stop entry and make the first round draws shortly after.

The first round will consist of 512 teams and, as usual, all the previous winners who enter will gain a bye into the first round draw, where they will join the top scorers from Gameweek 29.

Previous winners must enter with the same usernames to gain their bye.

Both these cup competitions will be played out according to the following Gameweek schedule:

FFS Cups Round Dates
Qualifying – Gameweek 29
Round 1 – 512 teams – Gameweek 30
Round 2 – 256 teams – Gameweek 31
Round 3 – 128 teams – Gameweek 32
Round 4 – 64 teams – Gameweek 33
Round 5 – 32 teams – Gameweek 34
Round 6 – 16 teams – Gameweek 35
Quarter-Final – 8 teams – Gameweek 36
Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 37
Final and third place play-off – 2 teams – Gameweek 38

When are the fixtures released?
The fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline. The first round draw will be made and published shortly after March 27.

No point pumping cash into them with dgw 34 assets to be acquired soon.

A lot could change in regards to the exact player I will want but a GW37 BB can have a decent team with 15 double gameweekers.

I can afford the following team. My current SV is 105.4m

    Cech / Pickford
    Koscielny / Valencia / Alonso / Kone / Yoshida
    Sanchez / Sterling / Sane / Ali / Pedro
    Kane / Gabbiadini / Defoe

Four players with two fixtures always have the potential for points. Ala Stoke last DGW.

Makes sense to get DGW bench rather than a SGW bench as either way they need to be cheap.

IF* he's not back? Could be very dubious. Also I think last DGW proved he's not essential. Could pick though however.

I don't get the GW34 theory. You can't count your bench fodder as your DGWers unless you are having 15 as everyone will have those DGWers in their starting 11 without a BB.

Man City, Chelsea & Arsenal have good GW37 fixtures, throw in a few Spurs & the odd Man U, Soton etc. and you have a pretty good 12+ players as a basis of DGWers.

DGW34 simple doesn't have the flexibility of fixtures to pick from to give 12+ good DGW players, and you are stuck with some dodgy players you wouldn't ordinarily pick

Not proposing 15 DGW players though, but 12 or so is very possible.

There is no way would I want a team with too many Man U, Boro & Palace from a GW33 WC going forward for 6 games

The consensus seems to be that bench boost is best used in gw37 because thats the bumper dgw but need to remember that bb is purely about what score your bench gets.
By using it in 34 you could have a bench of Valdes Chambers Friend/PVA Zaha/Ramirez. Imagine if mid get 2 clean sheets, now that would be a huge score and wouldnt affect the quality of your first xi.
Using it in 37 is going to be hard, the only dgw teams with cheap players have awful fixtures. Could be better to have a cheap bench and use the funds for a better first xi

This is the point I think. Only one GW following 37 is a major reason to do it then. Also, any extra cash spent on bench players will only have one week sitting there unused instead of 4

I dunno. I scored pretty well this week, but Antonio is injured, I want Sanchez, and a Spurs defender, and if I had a spare transfer I'd want Valencia. Just feels like getting boro players for 34 isn't as good as those moves would be.

Actually GW36 has an unused expensive bench too, but personally I would be ok taking a couple of hits with the free transfer from the GW36 WC team to shuffle things a bit going into both DGW37 and GW38.

It's not purely about what you bench scores. You can't class double gameweekers as your "bench" when everyone will have those players in their starting team anyway.

The maximum DGWers over 34 & 37 you can have using a GW34BB is 20. The maximum over the same gameweek but using BB in 37 is 24.

Your theory is flawed and incorrect. Sorry.

the point is you can get 4 extra dgwers in 34 without affecting the quality of your 1st xi, I dont think thats possible in gw37

With a WC it's easy to get a DGW bench of players such as Pickford, Yoshida etc that are cheap Akihito damaging the starting 11.

With only 5 free transfers until GW34 filling a bench with Boro/Palace (4 transfers to most) and then also getting triple Man Utd which most will want isn't feasible. And that's without accounting for transfers between now and then on players such as Spurs etc with good fixtures that most will want.

but i fancy my 34 bench to outscore your 37 one, and its all for free, means i wont have triple man u but thats fine by me, dont fancy their defence, mids will be rotation central, Ibra coming in anyway

One thing to consider, with so many teams in DGW 37, your bench is likely going to be defenders and keepers from teams playing your big hitters. It could work, like with Stoke, but then the rest of your team will have suffered.

        2. Jayv807
          • 7 Years
          7 years, 9 days ago

I think I get what you are saying. People should have a play with their team and see what the best is that they could field for the GW37 DGW. If their plan is to spread out funds using mid priced players like Pedro, Sterling, Sane, Defoe, Gabbi Deeney etc, they could likely field an overall strong starting 15 in DGW37 at the expense of a few big hitters, but then would likely not have any real cheap bench fodder playing. For this strategy, they are better off saving BB for DGW37.

If you are planning on maximising heavy hitters/expensive players in DGW37, you are likely to have some rubbish cheapos in your team. Watford and Sun players will likely be needed and they have horrible fixtures. In this case as an alternative, for DGW34 you could potentially elect to fill your bench with MID, CRY players and have players like Valencia and Ibra in your usual starting squad and use your bench boost. That way you are not sacrificing your good single game week players and have 4 bench players who have a DGW. I.e you would have around 6 or 7 DGW players for GW34, which in my opinion is enough. For DGW37, you can focus on your starting 11 only and have likely be able to afford more of the heavy hitters.

I agree, I may go with BB for DGW34 and then load up on as many heavy hitters as I can for my starting 11 for DGW37 where there are some better matchups for the top clubs.

Since defenders (inc keeper) are 3 of the 4 bench boost players, it really comes down to how much faith you have in Middlesbrough to keep CS against not-great opposition

Messed with my team, I could field the team below for DGW34 and use my bench boost

this would allow me to get some benefit of the DGW fixtures, without sacrificing the core of my team.

        Valdes/Pickford
Alonso, Valencia, Vertonghen, Jones, Chambers (or any other starting/healthy Boro defender)
        Sanchez, Alli, Mane, Siggy, Zaha
        Ibra, Lukaku, Benteke

Then I would field the following 11 for DGW37. Which is mostly quality players from the top clubs.

        Caballero (Pickford)
        Alonso, Valencia, Vertonghen, (Yoshi, 3.9)
        Sanchez, Alli, Hazard, Sterling, (Carroll)
        Ibra, Kane, Gabbi

obviously form/injuries will play a part, but just trying to put something out as an example.

What changes here folks? I know I got no Chelsea and useless Coutinho, but I can easily field a XI with decent enough fixtures. Fairly clueless on what to do and whom to bench.

    1FT 3.9m itb.

    Robles
    Bailly Valencia Walker Mawson
    Antonio Alli Siggy
    Defoe Lukaku Carroll

    Pickford Coutinho Barkley Robertson

Yeah, he's a decent mid in a team that has to score 3-4 goals per game. Bit of an annoying lottery with their mids though and I always thought they were a poor man's Liverpool midfield lottery, but I kinda enjoy owning him given how many shots he takes.

Yeah, ever since Carroll burned me in GW2 (got him in after the pressers and he got injured), I kinda wait for Friday every time. In fact, I've really grown to like being priced out of moves as opposed to making hasty moves. Last move I made for prices was back in GW13 i think, Lukaku & Fuchs to Kane & Nyom because I had extra cash, and Nyom was a colossal waste of a transfer who hung around till GW27. I just evaluate calmly on Fridays. Ok, ramble over.

I would have Bertrand in a heartbeat in the old VVD/Fonte days but he's a bit too expensive for me now that CS are harder to come by. Yoshida for me. I don't mind benching him most weeks for that price and just wheel him out for the DGWs.

Hope so but they did concede 3 to Watford and 3 to West Ham with Romeu and no VVD.

I wonder will they start playing the new guy Caceres soon? He is scaring me off from getting Stephens but who knows maybe he will take Yoshida's place instead?

It depends if / when you are playing your WC.
If you have spare cash and the WC to play just after, it's best to go for Bertrand than Yoshida...

        PVA also intriguing me.

Will only have to rely on attacking returns though as CS looks unlikely for palace in that dgw. Not worth another hit for Vert I guess.

Ye PVA is enticing but as you say he'll need to score to return what will most likely be a hit.

think I'll get 6 as well

all depends on if saints arsenal is 35 or 36

      if it's 36, I plan to wildcard 35

if not, I'll probably wildcard into 34

Hey all, early thoughts on this? 0FT, 0.7m.

    Pickford (Heaton)
    Coleman Baines Holebas (Pieters McAuley)
    Sanchez Eriksen Mane Siggy (Phillips)
    Costa Lukaku Carroll

Easy one is Baines > Valencia.

    Any other ideas?

Yes do that, as a start. I think defence still needs some work then. But if that is a -4 probably just leave it there for now

People with TC still available, what's the general consensus on when to use it,wait for further games to be rescheduled?

    TC-tbc
    WC-36
    BB-37?

Those with TC and BB have 2 options for TC.

Ibra in gw 34 or Sanchez in gw 35/36.

      I'd give it to Sanchez.

And GW 37? There is a proper case to TC in 37 with those great fixtures/split captaincy polls and roll the dice with the 4 DGW bench boosters against 4 SGW bench boosters. They are on your bench, they are playing big hitters in your team, how much do you expect them to score while your big hitters also score well?

Looking for a friend. 36 y/o male with one free transfer. Will travel

    Heaton/Pickford
    Alonso Valencia Baines Pieters Amat
    Mane Firmino Siggy Lanzini Fletcher
    Costa Lukaku Llorente

    5.1m in the bank

    Thoughts at the moment are:

    A) Baines > Walker
    B) Llorente > Vardy (but I do like Swansea's fixture)
    C) Midfielder > Sanchez/Hazard - Haz maybe not now because of the injury news.
    D) Save
    E) Something else

Any ideas on what to do? Obvious transfer seems to be Sanchez/Coutinho->Alli depending on injury news

As an owner of Eriksen,Mane and Coutinho my first thought is that
Coutinho->Alli(-4) its worth but my second thought is that in gw31 i prefer to have Coutinho(BOU) than Alli(swa),so propably i will keep Coutinho.Any thoughts?

Not to mention, who are you benching to play a Boro defender? Most teams should be looking to have CHE, TOT and MUN as their back 3.

Juan Mata for the DGW anyone?

Incidentally, he's been by far my best defender with 6 points per game for the games I've owned him. He's ahead of players like Kane, Alonso, Hazard, Sigurdsson, Alli and Mane in terms of ppg.
