Our first article for members over the international break arrives this morning. With double Gameweek 34 in mind, we check out a pair of Manchester United assets in light of their win at the Riverside Stadium. The approaching double-headers also find us assessing an improved display from Middlesbrough’s lone frontman and the recent “Allardyce effect” on the Crystal Palace defence.

We also delve into Chelsea and West Ham’s attacks and run the rule over Leicester City’s in-demand frontman, as the Foxes’ renaissance continues.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    Pickford (Heaton)
    Alonso Coleman Pieters (Evans Holgate)
    Sanchez Sterling Mane Siggy (Leko)
    Carroll Llorente Lukaku

    Is Sterling+Coleman >> Alli+Valencia worth a -4?

I probably could but could do with the money to improve one of the strikers soon. Could probably get Coleman back in in 2 weeks

    2FT & 0.4 ITB

    Pickford / Foster
    Coleman / Alonso / Brunt* / FMori* / Pieters
    Mane / Erisken / Siggy / Coutinho* / Grosicki

I check the page count for all the applicants on the day they apply - if they are over 15 then fine they are straight in - if they are under and haven't acknowledged they are under, I reply to them to let them know. I then make a note to check their page count each day (at the same time as I check the new applicants) to see if they have reached the 15.

How much are you influenced by stats, say as a %?
Eg 80% stats, 20% going with ones gut.

Reading that article the stats would put you off Vahrez but my gut tells me they're great options going forward. What say you?

Good question, and not sure really.

I use them at different times for different reasons. Looking at Vardy last week was complete eye test because of the Sevilla match + 2 previous league game results.

I do tend to take a look at stats but I wouldn't say I use them that greatly, but they are useful - 30% maybe?

Id probably say your 80/20 example holds true with me. I am very much in the stats camp.

What you need to consider is that these stats tell you what has been but they should not be the only factor used in your forecasts. Fixture difficulty is a key dimention here and in Leicesters case a change in management.

In summary stats over the past few GWs might not be promising but with Leicesters fixtures I expect Vahrez to do well

Yep that's one thing i find a bit frustrating with arguments comparing players based on stats. 2 different players with different teams and different fixture difficulty but the argument boils down to who has the best stats. Doesn't make sense to me as you're basically comparing apples and pears.

Stats are a great tool when looking for indicators like prospective players to bring but once your thinking of players based on stats it's all gut ! My gut told me to go with Vardy last week over costa my head said costa most of my ml rivals had costa I went with my gut

I would say ~75% stats for me. But not just any old stats, i use my own ratings system. However, i favour stats too much probably, but not by much, 50:50 would be to open to judgement bias for my liking.

As for Vahrez -neither my gut or the stats tell me they're good options. Doesn't mean they wont do well though!

Stats for sure. Used with gut feel and likely player bias due to previous history in FPL. Which is stats again. So stats camp for me, almost 100% I'd say.

Fantasy Football Scout daily hot topic

    Early GWK 30 captaincy thoughts.

Ahead of next Monday's launch of the captain poll for GWK 30 I thought I'd gather some early thoughts on where you will be placing the armband that week.

Will you be going for the safety of Costa or Hazard (if fit)?

Does a punt on Vardy appeal?

Or do you think Aguero can do a 'Dawson' on Arsenal and rack up a brace?

What about Sigurdsson perhaps and the goal machine that is Josh King?

If I had Vardy I'd be sorely tempted, although Stoke have been doing better recently in not getting pummeled.

Right now it's on Costa but I'm not sure I'm happy about it.

Lukaku/Sanchez/Spurs all facing tougher fixtures meaning its either a punt on Vardy or 'safe' Costa.

      Hazard atm with Sigurdsson vc.
If Hazard is confirmed I'll have to reconsider though.

Also looking at maybe doing two transfers this week. Possibly a Hazard downgrade to finance Gabbiadini to Vardy, depending on the injury situation. Even considered Lukaku out for Vardy. Vardy a definite captain for me if I get him.

Vardy or Mahrez could come in for me (depending on Antonio's injury) so whichever does come in I might take a punt on.

I do like Siggy and Kun, but Chelsea and Leicester are the standout fixtures and I think I have to gamble on Leicester smashing Stoke as most of my ML rivals own Costa or Haz.

Most likely Costa. He scored the winner at Palace earlier in the season, so I'm hoping he can do it again.

Maybe Sanchez is if he's fit. It's a game he could really get his teeth into. But hopefully not his ankle...!

I think we have another gameweek here where punts are more acceptable. There isn't a standout option or at least not one who will likely score big.

With that said I don't think a punt is necessary at this stage unless you are far behind. There is so much uncertainty coming up where ground can be made up.

Don't particularly fancy Chelsea against an improving Palace, I don't see many goals in the game. Vardy an option, though perhaps not explosive enough and I wonder if he is over performing at the moment. But Leicester are certainly playing their best football of the season and have a good fixture. Aguero or Sanchez perhaps, both teams better at attacking, if City can find their finishing boots they will be explosive.

    Henessey* - Pickford
    Valencia* - Yoshida - Fabio* - Coleman - Alonso
Sanchez - Pedro - Fletcher- Alli - Mane
    Barnes - Kaku - Ibra*

How does this team look for the DGW-34? Does it seem ideal or what do I need to change? Thanks

    Wildcard played.

    Valdes Pickford

    Alonso Walker Valencia Yoshida Gibson

    Sanchez Alli Mane Pedro Redmond

    Lukaku Gabbiadini Deeney

    1.8 ITB

Sufficiently covered for doubles. Boro will become City after GW34. Ibra will be in somehow for GW34. Projected front 8 for BB GW37 is Sanchez Alli Pedro Walcott Redmond Kane Gabbiadini Jesus. Have enough FT but prepared to take the odd hit. I feel better getting in Alli and Sanchez in now and sitting on them.

I'm trying 3-5-2 and 3-4-3 for the next 5GW before WC'ing. Which is best ?

    3-5-2 with
GW30 Cout (eve) or Gray (LEI)
    GW31 Siggy (TOTT)
    GW32 Siggy (whu)
    GW33 Siggy (wat)
    GW34 Siggy (STK)

    3-4-3 with
GW30 Gabbi (BOU) or Deeney (SUN)
    GW31 Costa (MCI)
    GW32 Ibra (sun)
    GW33 Ibra (CHE)
    GW34 Kaku (whu)

You could go 3-5-2 and downgrade Gray. He's got a couple of fixtures less anyway. I'm not keen on ditching Mané because after this week his fixtures turn tasty. The big caveat is that Liverpool are only playing well against the big boys right now, so there is an argument for saying they go bad 🙂

With Wenger who knows ?! His first and only 90 mins of the season against west brom was Wenger going for quickest players he had thinking we would pick west brom apart , he didn't have a plan b in place for west brom parking the bus and not leaving any space in behind he had no plan b and the team had no plan b and it showed , but back to welbeck I can't see him being used as more than impact sub in games now the only reason he may get a start is if Sanchez is injured or comes back fooked just not worth the punt at this stage with your rank play safe ( to a certain extent )
