As anticipated, Gameweek 30 is already an edgy affair.

With so much uncertainty surrounding the Fantasy Premier League captaincy decision, we’ve already seen the “big two” put in their shifts and ultimately disappoint.

Backed by 14.5% and 13.5% respectively, Diego Costa and Romelu Lukaku both endured frustrating afternoons, although their efforts, at least statistically, were worlds apart.

Costa shook off concerns surrounding his fitness to take on Palace and predictably earned the top billing for armband, nudging out Lukaku by just over 40,000 managers.

But, having failed to produce double-figures at Stamford Bridge all season, Costa again huffed and puffed without impact. A staggering nine attempts on goal, all from inside the box, were repelled by a determined Eagles rearguard.

A booking meant that the Spaniard has produced back-to-back single point returns, while his dry spell now means he’s provided just two goals from his last seven Gameweeks.

With Manchester United’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic now back from his suspension, that kind of output will surely lead to further ownership losses; Costa shed 55,000+ FPL managers heading into Gameweek 30.

The Chelsea man is already the third most sold asset since today’s deadline, as one of only two non-flagged players in the top eight being jettisoned.

The other is Lukaku.

While Costa did at least show willing in the defeat to Palace, Everton’s talisman made little impression in the earlier Merseyside derby.

While the two-point return represented his first blank in five Gameweeks, Lukaku failed to muster a single effort on goal. Over his two matches with Liverpool, he’s produced just one shot in total.

Significantly perhaps, the only other two matches in which he’s failed to register a shot on goal were against Chelsea in Gameweek 11 and Manchester United in Gameweek 14, suggesting that Lukaku is still struggling to make an impression on the big stage.

Tuesday’s trip to Old Trafford will be key, then, with the Belgian also under increased pressure now that Ibrahimovic is back in the equation, with a trip to Sunderland and a double Gameweek 34 beckoning.

While we consider our future approach up front, the issue of the Gameweek 30 captaincy remains unsettled.

Jamie Vardy and Eden Hazard also made their contributions today, with the Leicester City striker’s goal, his fourth in as many Gameweeks, offering a seven-point reward.

Certainly handy, but perhaps not the haul expected by the 197,000 who brought him in, particularly for those who may have spent a four-point hit alongside their sale of Seamus Coleman.

It remains to be seen if the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Sergio Aguero and Gylfi Sigurdsson can produce a genuinely big return to help their backers steal a march.

Sanchez and Aguero will square off at the Emirates wearing the armband for 5.7% and 8.8% respectively.

Prior to that, Gylfi Sigurdsson will make his pitch. He claimed just over 62,000 backers or 1.4%, although interestingly, twenty of the top 100 FPL managers opted for the Swans playmaker, making him the top choice among that elite group.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

could do, Brunt away to West Brom and Alonso playing City, so not ideal

But I don't want to play Snodgrass again and happy to get Zlatan bottom of his price with Costa going the other way

Plus my chronic lack of Spurs cover is killing me

If you want to get ibra, then maybe it's better to not take a hit. It's not like man utd have been setting world on fire with goals. And Brom vs Watford should be a 0-0 fixture. Can you sell Snoddy for a Spurs mid?

He'll surely start the next two, and I'll be wildcarding after that anyway.

Although I'm worried he didn't play yesterday, I'd like to get Walker but he's a little too expensive.
Among the other Tottenham defenders, which one would you recommend?
Should I get Davies or Vertonghen?

        Thanks, I think I'll do Robertson->Davies.
Not worried Robertson got 10 points while he was my last sub, wouldn't play him over anyone else.
        But his finish was nice.

        Or Mawson->Davies is better?

..would you sacrifice anyone of Alonso, Valencia or Bertrand?
That's the rest of my def.
But if Alonso does not do wonders in the next match I might take the risk and take him out, which would give me money even for Walker/Toby

I'm also thinking of getting rid of Alonso. Too pricey for those returns. Hold for another week and see I would suggest. If you are too worried about Davies, then better sell Robertson.

Had the same problem and went with Vert last week. Reasoning behind that was that he's a season-keeper so I hopefully don't have to waste any FT on him since I haven't got my wildcard anymore.

Cheers. Basically coming down to how I think Kun will do over next 2. Going to see how he gets on today first. Chelsea game could be tight and there is possibility of rotation against Hull at home.

Why is everyone so keen on Ibra with those mad fixtures?

He has had a good long break so should be fresh to play them all.

The next 4 include 2 home games, a trip to the worst team in the league and a double. What is not to like?

Not sure. He's not worth his price tag imo.

Don't you people think man utd are lacking creatively? No pogba, No Mata. Even defensively they are a bit weak. He doesn't look like a priority pick atm. Not for a hit at least.

If United score just 1 it is likely to be Zlatan. Big hauls. Maybe not. But some good consistent points is what I am expecting with maybe more against Sunderland and the doubles.

I agree with you. Even the doubles are both away fixtures. He'll be a priority pick by then I am sure. But in the current status, I won't take a hit to bring him in without seeing how man utd play against Everton.

He is the main Man U scorer, everything goes through him, rested and fit, two extra games ... fixtures aren't everything as we have just seen with Palace

Do we think Vardy is likely to be rested in GW32 for Everton away on Sunday with Athletico away on Wednesday to follow?

It is possible. I would be a little concerned.

I only got him for yesterday's and the next home match, having in mind they'll focus on Europe after.

A little. I have Baines and Pieters on my bench to cover

    Henessey
    Yoshida - Valencia - Holgate - Alonso
    Fletcher - Alli - Pedro - Siggy
    Costa - Kaku
    ( Jak - Gabbi - Mane - Coleman) 1 FT and 3.9 ITB

Is it wise to proceed with this team so as to save FT and take 3 hits the next week for just a -4?

I wouldn't. Nothing off the bench. Fletcher who won't score points. I would make the Coleman or Mane transfer to the replacement you want and play him.

Shall I take a -4 this week to get Sanchez and Fabio for Coleman and Mane?

Is it time to ditch Alonso, horrible fixtures, they started leaking constantly... He takes a lot of money to defence that could be used elsewhere...
