You get your Wildcard active, and we’ll do the maths. Or rather Jonty will.

This week’s ScoutCast gets highly technical as my aforementioned co-host goes all Rachel Riley on us (wishful thinking) and attempts to bewilder with a cheeky little algorithm he’s just happened to have rustled up.

Attempting to cut through the noise of the forthcoming double Gameweeks, Andy and Luke join me while Jonty gives his numbers an airing via another round of your targeted queries.

We chew over Gabbiadini’s demise, assess the Gameweek 37 potential offered by Spurs and Chelsea and, yet again, make another assessment of a slumbering Sanchez.

The end result all leads to the ScoutCast Wildcard template squad, as Big Vic crashes in and Luke stands alone in shunning Arsenal’s Chilean timebomb.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

If you’re a traditional type, you can acquire the mp3 audio version via this link on the first player below, or take in the full visual experience via the second player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Sanchez captaincy looks like it will be at RVP/Suarez levels. Amazing for a player so out of form.

    The stench of fear reeks.

And I smell of it too.

Southampton players are even more out of form. What is the alternative?

Hazard would not be a bad idea.

Single gameweek though, Surely Sanchez with 2 games is the better bet.

But Chelsea's home game is very very good. Middlesbro need to win, there will be gaps. If not for Man Utd's defensive injuries, Hazard over Sanchez would make a lot of sense. And even then, Jose knows how to tighten a team at the back.

Yeah thats a fair argument. We can't argue with the pedigree of Sanchez though. He and Hazard are like for like.

Perhaps its Arsenals defence. As a Koscielny owner its a strong outside bet I suppose.

        Captaincy alternatives -
        Hazard
        Kane
        Ozil
        Koscielny
        Cech
        and for the very bravest
        Walcott

Rule out Walcott, his form is worse than Sanchez, Ozil could be thrown into the same category as Sanchez.

Arsenals defence is worth a look though

Let is not be doubting the power of Walcott's on/off switch. He still can do a hat trick in a half.

All single gameweekers, not a lot of ambition there. I don't know why KDB got a mention as well as Aguero who could easily sit out for Jesus and the young guns behind him. Monreal has an element of risk attached too.

A DGWer clearly has a higher points ceiling as they play twice.

It's ambition that gave me a poor OR. Clearly not all DGWers will outscore all SGWers, so there has to be a line. For me, no DGWer is above the line set by some other players in my team.

Having said that I dont have Sanchez, but as you may suspect, I would feel the same if he were in my team

And I'm not sure how their points ceiling is higher either. Certainly not clear

They play 180mins instead of 90mins. More time on the pitch to get FPL points. Its also a given that they collect at least 2 additional points for the extra appearance.

Ok so you really are arguing that all DGW players that play both games have a higher ceiling than all SGW players.

Then 'points ceiling' must be a useless term.

I take it you don't understand what points ceiling is. If you think it automatically means more points then you are mistaken.

Haha. Does Stephens have a higher points ceiling than Alonso? Does Romeu have a higher ceiling than Hazard? If the answer is yes, then it's true, I don't understand what the meaning is. Or at the very least, we disagree about the meaning. I'm sorry to have offended you, administrator.

Man Utd's defence problems just about makes it 'ok' but there's massive potential for success for anyone who captains elsewhere. Two fails for Sanchez with 60% (or whatever) captaining him and if you get a 30 point captain....Christmas Day.

Between Cech and Sanchez for me. I can't quite bring myself to captain a goalkeeper but deep down I think he will be the week's highest scorer.

      Most likely Sanchez.

Another reason why I'll go Sanchez is that the Chilean is something of a differential in my mini lg - where many rivals have already wildcarded and not included him - instead favouring Gabbiadini. Shaping up to being my Sanchez (c) v their Gabbi (c).

Think you win everty time then - crazy/ridiculous to C Gabbiadini.

If it's not Sanchez, it has to be Kane, Costa, Hazard or Jesus C. Gabbi C just doesnt make sense.

Recent DGWKs Grant, DDG, Baily have all prospered.

In the past BAE and Vidic got huge DGWK scores...... very reasonable to captain a defender in a double.

But, I've yet to find the gumption to do so - even though history says they are more profitable.

Jonty, you always do this! You'll mention another player and then play it safe only to go on the Scoutcast and say something along the lines of, "I was saying player X could do well". 🙂

The way Alexis (and Arsenal) are playing right now, there's only fear that gives him the armband this week. Yes, there's a greater chance of him doing something in 2 games, but perhaps the smarter money is on captaining Hazard, Jesus or one of the Spurs lads?

I really hope he continues to blank this week as those that pick players according to form and make rational decisions, will be rewarded.

I agree... I keep messing about with my team to get Sanchez in but it requires ditching Hazard and Sane for Pedro and Sanchez and although RMT tells me this gets me more, I do just think I'm putting in Sanchez not for rational reasons but due to fear, only fear.

Logic says not to cap Sanch, dgw or not. Look at his returns, as we all know he does sweet FA when he's not upfront, so I expect an 8 point cappo from him this gw.

Haz at home to Boro, who are leaking now they are trying to score goals and he is a classic flat track bully, points to Haz cap for me.

Right - Sanchez is utter dog turd right now. Did anyone notice that? The best defence in the league rolls into town. Wenger has never beaten a Mourinho team competitively (Community Shield doesn't count as competitive, let's be honest).

Double gameweek blinkered vision abounds. I have Sanchez but I will certainly not be captaining him. Hazard this week.

see this is what I think. And for all Mourinho's rhetoric about fielding a team of kids, he's the boy who cried wolf. Remember Chelsea being a "little horse"? Yes he wants to win the EL but they still have a great chance of top 4, why let Arsenal gain 3 pts on them? He won't park a bus, it'll be a whole coachpark... and then have Rooney or whoever score from a set piece.

Cech. I don't/won't have Sanchez despite RMT telling me I should have him in for Hazard, Pedro in for Sane and Anichebe in for Barnes but I cannot do it, my eyes tell me Arsenal are poor right now... but don't concede. I'd love to captain Hazard but I think United will park the bus and Saints can't score, hopefully a double clean sheet for Cech with extras

Sanchez C. I'm like a magpie to DGWs

Issue for me is Chelsea points likely will be shared between Costa and Hazard, so I have both as coverage
Kane may score, but same issue of points going between him, Alli, Eriksen etc, whereas Sanchez is responsible for 90% Arsenal's attacking returns (few as they are)

You're in much better shape than he is. Just focus on the highly owned, heavy hitters and you'll do fine. Perhaps look to get in Costa if they still have the title up for grabs as he'll find it hard to fit him in. Luckily for you Bailly and Rashford are doubtful so may miss a game or two.

Getting the TC right in theory is worth more and there are better picks in 37
But still it all rides on one player and if they fail ...
If I had both left would still probably TC this week but it's a hard call.

        Team looks fine.

for those of you willing to BB this GW or next GW... i just did the simulation, based on how many games will be played.

      With assumption that :
      - Captain always a DGW player
      - all DGW play twice in that GW
      - 6 DGW in GW 36 (max)
      - 13 DGW in GW 37 (out of possible 15)

those who TC in GW 36/38 & BB in GW 37 will have 2 more games to play than those who BB in GW 36 & TC in 37.
if max DGW players in GW 37 reached (15) then 4 more games.
but if DGW players in GW 37 only 11 or less, they will play the same amount of games.

my research doesn't include point opportunities, as we all know that SGW players can outscored DGW players 🙂

      cheers

Southampton have conceded 7 in the last 3, and seem to be facing an internal revolt.
United will rotate heavily after the Europa.
Despite Arsenal's general shoddiness, Sanchez was still lively away to Spurs, the best defence in the league. He had one great attempt, and played a fantastic ball to Gibbs who could/should have done better with the opportunity. He also scored in the FA Cup, so has 2 goals in the last 4.

He is also Sanchez, and he is a wonderful player. The fear has a legitimate basis with him - he is more than capable of scoring a couple during this GW.

I think part of it is because Costa has struggled for double digit returns of late...but I agree purely in terms of fixture the Spaniard edges it.

Both have the form - and although Kane has a poor away record - compared to at White Hart Lane - he has played far less games on the road....and then there's that Vicarage Road game to consider.

But if Spurs slip up and Chelsea clinch the title at WBA then Costa could well get discarded and miss the Watford game given his antics over the China move.

If Chelsea have it wrapped up Costa will almost certainly not start one of the GWK 37 matches....that is in the back of my mind. Can see him starting that GWK 38 home match though - think that'll be the first XI seeing as its at home.

Fair point. Another consideration for me is Pedro keeping Fabregas out of the side which isn't good news for Costa who thrives on Fab's through balls. If Fab was a cert to start then I'd strongly consider Costa. I doubt Pedro will get dropped this weekend after scoring that screamer against Everton.

the good thing about pedro and fab is that they both get game time even if they are not starting. That's why I've gone for Pedro. Costa has got a lot of goals from Fab assists in the final 20 mins.

Because Costa has not lost it yet and Costa is Costa. Can't trust the guy. If Spurs wins tonight and Chelsea is drawing at HT against MID, Costa owner will just have to hide behind the sofa and pray he's not going to blow up.
That's how I see Costa in a FPL pov.
