Update Four is now live, introducing heatmaps as a major new feature, along with another round of tweaks and improvements.

Once again Matz1lla has done us proud with his efforts, as we continue to work at enhancing the site and tools on offer.

Here’s what’s included in this update:

Team and Player Heatmaps
As mentioned in our preview article, we’ve tried to go the extra mile with our heatmaps feature.

I always wanted to ensure that, when these were included in our members’ area, they would work with the ability to slice the Opta data by intervals – eg Gameweeks, matches, home and away etc.

Implemented in this way, they suddenly become more effective as a method of analysing player and team performance, not just in a single match, but in a group of fixtures or over the entire season.

So heatmaps can now be found in player and team profiles and in the player and team comparison tools.

You can also get them in the match dashboard, to view traditional team or single player maps for a particular fixture.

We’ve added maps for the following statistics:

Touches
Passes Received
Shots
Chances Created
Recoveries
Challenges Lost
Successful Take ons
Failed Take ons
Goal Attempts Conceded (teams only)
Chances Created Conceded (teams only)
Fouls Conceded (teams only)

Hazard vs Pedro – Touches – 2016/17 All Matches
members

The preview movie below shows the heatmaps in action and the options and possibilities available.

Heatmaps Preview Movie

If you’ve any feedback on the maps or have any requests on other statistics you would like to see mapped, please get in touch via support@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk

Bonus Points System additions
Having added the Baseline Bonus Points System statistics in Update Three, we’ve tweaked this further and implemented the statistics to both the player profiles and player comparison tools.

Baseline BPS is now included as a key statistic when comparing players.

Fantasy Goal Involvement
We’ve always included the goal involvement statistic.

This measured a player’s contribution in terms of goals scored or assisted as a percentage of his team’s goals scored when he was on the pitch.

We’ve now expanded this to offer a new statistic, which takes into account Fantasy assists. This is now found on the player statistic Involvement tables.

What’s coming next?
We’re looking to add Fantasy Premier League prices to our database in order to surface these in our profiles and player tables. The aim is to introduce the ability to filter tables by these prices.

We will then move to include Sky Sports prices in their tables and also build Yahoo Daily Fantasy tables, which will hopefully include player prices for the forthcoming contests.

Expected goals remains a background task as we continue to research and explore options for our model.

Once the season begins, we will also start to address improvements away from the Members’ area and, in particular, look at our HomeCrowd comments system.

You can see our current task list and track our progress through the next update via this roadmap.

You can also send your feedback and requests to me at mark@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk

Our previous updates are detailed here, here and here.

A reminder that, if you want access to this forthcoming update and other future additions to the members’ area, you can sign up for the new campaign now for our pre-season price of £12.50 (RRP £15.00).

Existing registered users can upgrade via this link. New users, who are yet to get a registered account, can sign up via this link.

If you’re new to the benefits of Fantasy Football Scout membership, you can get full details, along with a series of movies previewing the content, via this page.

Due to the new site additions, if you encounter any loading issues with the images in comparison tool, we advise clearing the browser cache (shift and F5) to resolve this.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Hart, Pedro
    or
    De Gea, Fabregas?

Or maybe do Hart and Fabregas and upgrade Trippier to Walker/Mendy (I know he is an injury concern)?

Hmmmm tough as in the last option I will be left with no Utd defensive cover.

With Hazzard out for some time they will all take many minutes on the pitch. Conte has no other way unless he signs midfielders.

Same front 8 as me - except have pushed the boat out on Ayew (5.0).

Defence looks good - but am scarred from having Foster last season. Maybe DDG instead - downgrading Valencia and saving cash?

Would be a bit concerned about Stones being a rotation risk - but could be a good choice.

Hi all, long time member. I don't recall ever asking for a RMT before but I'd thought I'd put myself out there for some feedback. On holiday at the minute so have had far too much tinkering time. Here goes...

de Gea (I wanted a fire and forget solution and Man U cover) + Elliot

Trippier - Kola - Luiz - Walker (wanted top 5 cover and wing backs where possible) + Long 4m

KDB - Willian - Salah - Fraser + RLC (I hope first 3 will be up amoungst the top scorers at end of season and if given sufficient game time think Fraser can be a real suprise this year with ability to switch with RLC) when Hazard returns, Willian will swap out for Fab or Ramsey.

Lukaku - Jesus + 4m (these 2 will be there at the end of the season for sure!)

So what do you guys think? Thanks in advance...

Nice team however there is no 4m forward options in the game.
I've always been a big fan of Walker but this season he might rotated a lot so not sure if I would be ready to invest that much money in a defender who might not always play.

      Hello mate - let's go 🙂

      So:
      - Similar side to me in some respects
      - Do you need Luiz? Can you redistribute that elsewhere? I'm not sure about him to begin with, especially with Rudiger hanging out now
      - Be worried about only 1 player on the bench who can come off it for you, and even he (RLC) is a ? as Puncheon Mili Cab and McArthur are all chilling there.
      - Identical mid to me except RLC (I have TC)
      - No Kane nor really any Spurs cover going forward will frighten me

Big thing, then for me is taking out Luiz and popping in a 4.5, take that extra money to give yourself a bit of bench reinforcement. But good team othewise.

    6. Ramboros

      Not really.

Lukaku is the only trustworthy Man Utd asset, but also the only player at an absolute premium. So far people assume that Lukaku will keep up his form at United, and that he is at no rotation risk. We know Kane will play every game for Tottenham, and he ended last season incredibly hot.

People make up arguments against Kane. Is Kane a slow starter? To some degree, but he has only been a starter for two years of PL, and last season he started decently. Lukaku has only scored 3 goals in the first 3 rounds of all of his seasons in the PL. Surely the argument goes both ways?

Then we have the Wembley argument against Kane. The argument is fair enough, but he also ended last season with a hat trick on the biggest pitch in the league. Can't we use the same argument against Lukaku? Everton plays on a considerably smaller pitch than Manchester United, and Lukaku was mostly reliant at home.

        • 9 Years

Size of the pitch impacts teams not individual players.
Man Utd players are used to Old Trafford therefore their performance cant be affected.
Spurs on the other hand as a whole team/system they play in will have to adjust which may impact performance and service that Kane will get.

Plays CB. I don't think he has all set pieces. Cabaye wasn't playing when he scored the free kick. Carroll should get set pieces too if Siggy leaves.

5th mid will be benched almost every gw anyway so you lose 0.5 of your starting eleven.

      Pogba..

Milner is no more nailed imo, and never count on LIV CS.. you'll be disappointed.

The improvement for herrera will probably be matic taking the defensive midfield spot, leaving Herrera some more room to get upfield.

        Yeah I think he's a good option

Should be pretty secure in that spot ahead of Matic and alongside Pogba although Fellaini will probably get some minutes at his expense

Fraser for first 2 at least, be keeping an eye on Gross and possibly be bringing in GW3/4 as don't like opening fixtures....Herrera...not for me.

Tom Heaton had a excelent season but he is only the 8th most selected keeper at the moment.

In terms of fixtures they are not bad, actually, all even gameweeks are great for Burnley until GW 18.

Why such a lack of faith? Is it due to the departure of Keane?

Is it because of their away form?

      Ok I'll tell u why.

    RMT:

    Foster (Elliot)
    Valencia Bertrand Trippier Yoshida (Long)
    KDB Salah Zaha Ritchie (Carroll)
    Kane Lukaku (Quaner)

My main issue is that I'm not comfortable with doubling up on Southampton in defence, but I'm not sure who to reshuffle my defence for.

City have looked great defensively in preseason.
        Also a better keeper.
Could be a bargain at 5.5
        Decent threat from setpieces too

If you had 8m to spend on a midfielder and you already had KDB and Jesus for City and Lukaku and Pogba for United, would you choose:

    A. David Silva
    or
    B. Henrikh Mkhitaryan

      A

He's been amazing for me in FPL even as late as the end of this season.

Mkhitarian I gambled on this season when he was £9m and I had to wildcard early becuase of him and Payet
