Alexis Sanchez will sit out Arsenal’s season opener against Leicester City, but Mesut Ozil is expected to be available. Gareth McAuley is sidelined for West Bromwich Albion’s trip to Bournemouth, who are missing Junior Stanislas. Meanwhile, Cedric Soares’ fitness will be monitored as Southampton prepare to host Swansea City.

Arsene Wenger will be without the suspended Laurent Koscielny for tonight’s home clash against Leicester City, while Alexis Sanchez is also absent due to an abdominal injury.

There are also a number of doubts, including Mesut Ozil (ankle), Aaron Ramsey (calf), and Shkodran Mustafi (lack of match fitness), though Ozil confirmed he returned to full training yesterday and appears to have a good chance of starting.

Leicester City trio Robert Huth (ankle), Danny Drinkwater (thigh), Vicente Iborra (groin) will all miss the trip to the Emirates. Kelechi Iheanacho has shaken off a minor toe problem, though, while Islam Slimani is also available after recovering from a gashed leg.

Gareth McAuley (thigh) and James Morrison (knee) will both miss the visit of Bournemouth to the Hawthorns, but Jonny Evans (hamstring), Nacer Chadli (hip), Chris Brunt (calf) should be available.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe revealed that Junior Stanislas is out for out to a month due to a groin injury. Steve Cook and Jermain Defoe are expected to be contention for the visitors.

Troy Deeney is a doubt for Watford’s home encounter against Liverpool, having only been able to take a limited part in training prior to today due to a groin problem.

Ross Barkley (groin) and James McCarthy (knee) will both miss Everton’s home meeting with Stoke City, though Wayne Rooney will start for the Toffees, manager Ronald Koeman has confirmed.

Earlier this morning, Stoke City manager Mark Hughes confirmed that he hopes to have defender Bruno Martins Indi on board in time for the Goodison trip.

Virgil van Dijk is unavailable for Southampton’s home encounter with Swansea due to illness. Meanwhile, the fitness of right-back Cedric Soares will be monitored after he arrived back late for pre-season due to international duties with Portugal.

Tammy Abraham looks set to be available for Swansea City’s trip to St Mary’s following a minor groin issue but fellow frontman Fernando Llorente misses out with an arm complaint.

Is this defence too risky in terms of nailedness?

    Kolasinac Danillo Jones Yoshida

Kolas isnt being included in most online predicted team sheets (might be because he is a new addition and they expect Wenger to ease him in).
Danillo is a 2 week punt until Trippier is back so hopefully the timings align.
Jones i'm hearing is favoured by Jose as a partner to Bailly over Lind/Smalling.
Yoshida apparently had some injury doubts but Ben Dinnery is now back-pedalling so either him or Stephens, either one could get dropped once Van Dyke is back.

Yes it's just a joke. Don't overthink it.
Danilo is good for 1/2 games. Jones... what?

Bottomed. I think I have whittled down to two options:

    A)

    DDG
    Kompany / Monreal / Yoshida
    KDB / Mkhi / Zaha / JWP
    Kane / Jesus / Gabbi

    Elliot / Carroll / Mee / Suttner

    B)

    DDG
    Kompany / Monreal / Yoshida
    KDB / Salah / Zaha / JWP
    Kane / Lukaku / Abraham

    Elliot / Carroll / Mee / 4.0

I've recently switched to A from B, but worried about going Lukaku-less... hence Mhki. I am mostly avoiding Liverpool due to uncertainty of starts. Also open to Yoshida > Stephens, but I guess there's not much in that.

    What do we think?

Too punty? Would start one of Suttner/Lokilo/Carroll each week. Starting with Lokilo...

    DDG
    Danilo, Bertrand, Cedric
    KDB, Salah, Zaha, Lokilo
    Kane, Lukaku, Gabbi

    Elliot, Carroll, Suttner, Long

So is Yoshida. Will gamble on one of them, Cedric is hands down their best right back. My guess is he starts but gets subbed off for Pied for the first few.

Nice Lokilo "pun"t there 🙂 He has looked very promising preseason, his took most of the set pieces and was some of the best taken we have seen for some time, and FCB is a big fan apparently.

He is a punt though surely? De Boer said he didn't even know who he was until a few weeks ago. He isn't nailed, but looks like an early bandwagon to me. Do you really think he is first choice for that RW/RF slot?

      Tarroll cheaper.

      1. OZIL-TEEN
        8 years, 11 months ago

Yes, but I'm far happier playing Atsu after game week one. Compare their youtube highlights and see who you like then. Atsu is far more likely to get a bandwagon than Carroll with his occasional assists. Worth the 0.5 I think

Benching dilemma: I think I'm now settled on my XV, but not on my XI - three players for one starting spot.

    Foster
    Alonso-Kolasinac-Bertrand
    KdB-Salah-William-RLC
    Kane-Lukaku(c)

That's 10, but who to start from:
    - Alexander-Arnold (short-term punt with Clyne out)
    - Carroll (set pieces tempting me)
    - Abraham (currently sat second place on bench, think one of the above the better shout)

TAA for me, Abraham first sub.
RLC probably won't play anyways so you will play two of those.

City will score bucketloads of goals this year. Lacazette will need to get used to the league and when Sanchez is back he will steal all the goals.

Jesus first, as Lacazette will likely take some time to get Arsenals play style. Leicester are poor, but Stoke can be tough defensively and then you have Liverpool next. Jesus has got better fixtures. You can always downgrade later.

Same boat and chose Jesus to begin the season with. Even with Aguero and Jesus up top, points will roll in.
