Alexis Sanchez will sit out Arsenal’s season opener against Leicester City, but Mesut Ozil is expected to be available. Gareth McAuley is sidelined for West Bromwich Albion’s trip to Bournemouth, who are missing Junior Stanislas. Meanwhile, Cedric Soares’ fitness will be monitored as Southampton prepare to host Swansea City.

Arsene Wenger will be without the suspended Laurent Koscielny for tonight’s home clash against Leicester City, while Alexis Sanchez is also absent due to an abdominal injury.

There are also a number of doubts, including Mesut Ozil (ankle), Aaron Ramsey (calf), and Shkodran Mustafi (lack of match fitness), though Ozil confirmed he returned to full training yesterday and appears to have a good chance of starting.

Leicester City trio Robert Huth (ankle), Danny Drinkwater (thigh), Vicente Iborra (groin) will all miss the trip to the Emirates. Kelechi Iheanacho has shaken off a minor toe problem, though, while Islam Slimani is also available after recovering from a gashed leg.

Gareth McAuley (thigh) and James Morrison (knee) will both miss the visit of Bournemouth to the Hawthorns, but Jonny Evans (hamstring), Nacer Chadli (hip), Chris Brunt (calf) should be available.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe revealed that Junior Stanislas is out for out to a month due to a groin injury. Steve Cook and Jermain Defoe are expected to be contention for the visitors.

Troy Deeney is a doubt for Watford’s home encounter against Liverpool, having only been able to take a limited part in training prior to today due to a groin problem.

Ross Barkley (groin) and James McCarthy (knee) will both miss Everton’s home meeting with Stoke City, though Wayne Rooney will start for the Toffees, manager Ronald Koeman has confirmed.

Earlier this morning, Stoke City manager Mark Hughes confirmed that he hopes to have defender Bruno Martins Indi on board in time for the Goodison trip.

Virgil van Dijk is unavailable for Southampton’s home encounter with Swansea due to illness. Meanwhile, the fitness of right-back Cedric Soares will be monitored after he arrived back late for pre-season due to international duties with Portugal.

Tammy Abraham looks set to be available for Swansea City’s trip to St Mary’s following a minor groin issue but fellow frontman Fernando Llorente misses out with an arm complaint.

I really like this team, apart from Lindelof. Poor pre-season form and potential to be dropped I think?

Who you got instead? I had Trippier, but Wembley and injury force me to do same changes

Be tempted by a 5 mill from Bournemouth. Ake? I've gone for Valencia for ManU cover.

If VVD starts playing again, as the club insists he will do, then either Stephens or Yoshida drops out.

          GK: Foster - eliott
DF: Valencia - Cedric - Luiz - Mee - Rosenior
Mid: Salah - Redmond - William - KDB - Mkhitaryan
          FWD: Lukaku, King, Rodriguez

          What do you think :)?

I think King may take some time to get going after his injury. He may not be a good gw1 pick.
Defense is obviously strong but Cedric may not start, so I would pick Daniels instead as you don't want to start Mee away to Chelsea.
            Mid is obviously very strong.

However, you can only start 7 of your front 8 and they are all expensive - that means you need to bench at least a 6 million player every match. It's an inefficient use of your budget. So you should downgrade Rodriguez to a 4,5 forward (the problem is that none of those will be starting) or Redmond to a 4,5 mid (Carroll is the preferred choice).

Ok so after going forwards and backwards finally come up with this team for my first season of fpl
    Heaton
    Bailly bertrand yoshida
    Ritchie de bruyne alli zaha
    Gabbadiani jesus lukaku
    Subs elliot mee carroll

Any thoughts? Is yoshida a good pick? Had kane at first but just too expensive. Any recommendations. Should i have a differential? Wanted maybe mane in the team but couldn't figure how to fit him in. Whats the main point of subs, are they just cheap backup for injury or should they half decent players that u can rotate depending on fixtures? Last question who should captain be?

That's too much to ask for a forum post, especially on deadline day. Read up a bit in fantasy.premierleague.com, they have a lot of the general advice to ask for.

I will just say that the team looks fine, most will captain Lukaku and either he or Jesus are your safest choices.

I think I have whittled down to two options... panic mode:

    A)

    DDG
    Kompany / Monreal / Yoshida
    KDB / Mkhi / Zaha / JWP
    Kane / Jesus / Gabbi

    Elliot / Carroll / Mee / Suttner

    B)

    DDG
    Kompany / Monreal / Yoshida
    KDB / Salah / Zaha / JWP
    Kane / Lukaku / Abraham

    Elliot / Carroll / Mee / 4.0

I've recently switched to A from B, but worried about going Lukaku-less... hence Mhki. I am mostly avoiding Liverpool due to uncertainty of starts. Also open to Yoshida > Stephens, but I guess there's not much in that.

    What do we think?

    1. OZIL-TEEN
      8 years, 11 months ago

B, with Jesus instead of Kane is my front line.

What is the arguement that Cedric will not start?

He has played the confed cup and then the last game of pre-season. It's not like he isn't match ready.

The manager hasn't said anything to suggest he won't play.

"Pellegrino added that there are no major injury concerns ahead of the visit of Paul Clement's Swans team, although players such as Cédric, who arrived late in pre-season due to his Confederations Cup involvement, will be monitored."

Long term, neither are guaranteed to start. I'd go for Ben Davies if you are reluctant to double down with Bertrand. Davies may well nail down the starting spot after Rose's media antics and he scores a lot of points.

    A or B.....

    A) Lukaku, Jesus, Firmino (current); or

    B) Kane, Jesus, Gabbiadini

Gone with (A) but leaves no Spurs cover. Mids: KDB, Willian, Salah, Richie (Carroll). Not too sure how Firmino will play without his bud, Coutinho?

Which is the better pick and why?

Daniels is proven now over two seasons as scoring in the top 10 of defenders.

Ake scored well in the 8 or 9 matches he played for Bournemouth, but has never been a consistent goal scorer before. He scored 3 or 4 goals in only 8 shots if I remember correctly. That is unlikely to be sustainable.

It's a good question. I fancy Kolasinac over the season but for the opening fixtures, not so much. They are quite difficult.
How about shifting him to Ben Davies and then upgrade Rosenior to a 4,5?

      1. Prawn

        8 years, 11 months ago

I am not sure about Davies for the opening games either... I could downgrade Bert for Dawson as WBA have easy first few fixtures....

I think maybe the most sensible thing to do would be leave as is..Let the first gameweek pass and upgrade Rosenoir based first gameweek stats and before he drops in price...
