After Eden Hazard failed to deliver in Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Huddersfield, eight of the top ten captains in Fantasy Premier League are set to feature over this evening’s seven matches.

All eyes are on Harry Kane as Spurs welcome Brighton to Wembley Stadium – after a weekend home brace against Stoke, he’s the top armband pick for Gameweek 17, with 25.2% of managers handing him the captaincy – his biggest majority of the season so far.

Mohamed Salah is second only to Kane, with 17.8% backing after serving up seven sets of double-digits. Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino are also back on the Liverpool team-sheet, though, after featuring as subs against Everton.

The latter was second only to Kane for transfers in ahead of Tuesday’s deadline – over 197,000 acquired Firmino in the rush to replaced the stricken Alvaro Morata.

Romelu Lukaku, Sergio Aguero and Alexis Sanchez will be hoping that history repeats itself this evening.

Lukaku is toiling for form right now, with a single goal in nine Gameweeks, but scored four at home to tonight’s visitors Bournemouth while at Everton last season.

Aguero, meanwhile, netted twice in Man City’s win at Swansea in 2016/17 – he returns to Pep Guardiola’s XI as Gabriel Jesus takes up bench-warming duties.

Sanchez heads to West Ham, where he ran riot on his way to three goals and an assist in the previous campaign.

Elsewhere, Charlie Austin and Dominic Calvert-Lewin were both subject to significant transfers in ahead of Gameweek 17, with 156,00+ and 172,000+ new owners respectively.

Both have the fixtures to strengthen their claims as budget third strikers.

Austin – with four goals in three starts – hosts a Leicester defence with one away shutout to their name.

Ranked top for points per million, Calvert-Lewin has a goal and three assists in the last four Gameweeks and visits a Newcastle defence that’s conceded an average of three goals per game over their previous five league fixtures.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Does Niasse > Okazaki sound good? A kneejerk is surely better than 0 minutes.

    Courtois
    Kiko F - Otamendi - Smalling
    Hazard - Salah - Sterling - Richarlison - RLC
    Kane - Firmino

    Elliot - Mee - Dunk - Niasse

    1. La Gazzetta
      • 8 Years
      8 years, 1 month ago

It's definitely an improvement but I feel he won't get many minutes this week with gray coming back in. He will play a lot more than Niasse but DCL is the standout pick for me in that bracket

You'll probably get 0 minutes next week with okazaki as rotation continues. Very knee jerk and makes little sense.

        • 15 Years

Yeah, it doesn't make much sense when you consider DCL in the same bracket I guess

A few injury issues here (like most of us) ...

    DDG / Elliot
Monreal Jones Kiko* / Ward* Daniels
Hazard Salah Sterling Richalison* / RLC
    Kane DCL Morata*

Thinking of: Daniels & Ward to Ogbonna and Christiensen (-4)

Stronger upcoming fixtures for the incoming guys who would both play in a 442 or 433 depending on if Richarlison or Morata are out. Kiko likely to be benched also due to injury

  20. Coaly
    • 13 Years

David Silva could have had 4

  21. ChuckN

If you think you've had it bad, here is my tale of woe - it's been a train wreck from which I constantly find myself taking hits to try and recover. I do quite well most seasons and have a top 5k and 4x top 20k finishes in 9 seasons. But this season is some altogether different beast. It all started from GW4 when Pogba went down:

GW 04 - Pogba injured long term
    GW 05 - IN: KDB + Vardy (Kane (c) 2 pts)
    GW 06 - IN: Atsu
GW 07 - IN: Morata + Coutinho (Morata 34 mins and injured after trade in)
    GW 08 - IN: Jesus (Kane (c) 2 points)
GW 09 - IN: Morata (Morato (c) 1 point, Jesus 9 mins, Coutinho injured)
    GW 10 - IN: Salah + Aguero (Kun (c) 0 - doesn't play then plays 1 game in next 3, Tripper out)
GW 11 - IN: Abraham + Kane (Kane (c) 2 pts, Abraham injured, Trippier out, Jones injured)
GW 12 - IN: Mee + de Gea (Kane (c) 1 point, Kun + Jones out, Trippier rotated)
GW 13 - IN: Niasse + Pogba (Niasse yet to score a point for me in 5 game weeks)
    GW 14 - IN: Haz + Morata (Hazard (c) 1 point)
GW 15 - IN: Moreno (Moreno injured, Pogba suspended)
GW 16 - IN: Ramsey, Christensen (Ramsey injured, Mee Niasse 45 mins)
    GW 17 - IN: Son, Kabasale (Not playing: Tripper/Mee/Morata/Niasse/Mbemba/Elliot + Carroll 45min)

So i've had the following injured or dropped on the same or proceeding GW as I brought them in:

    Pogba
    Morata
    Coutinho
    Jesus
    Aguero
    Abraham
    Mee
    Niasse
    Moreno
    Morata (again)
    Ramsey

Throw in Phil Jones going down, Trippier rotation, and now Richarlison injured.

Not expecting sympathy, just wanting to share an insight into how straight up unlucky this game can be. Throw in a bunch of poor Kane + City capo choices and this season is a write-off.

When I initially saw the line up tonight, I would have said Ditch! But honestly Giroud is so shit that I can see him very easily returning to super sub status. He did nothing tonight except karate kick a west Ham defender seemingly in the face (although Cresswell came running back on in 1 minute after he didn’t get the foul called)

    What would you do? Repost.

    A) Ward (bha) > Jones (wba)/ Christansen (SOT)
    B) Ramsey (RED FLAGGED) > Silva (TOT)
    C) Fabianski (eve) > DDG (wba)
    D) Any two of the above (-4)

Ward yellow flagged and has tough fixtures, DDG's (almost) guaranteed starts and potential for clean sheets are enticing.

    Cheers

DDG is sixth on the goalkeeper watchlist. SIXTH.

I think the old school mentality on cheap as chips goalkeepers needs to change. Premium goalkeepers now need to be embraced with arms wide open by the modern FPL manager.

    I welcome your thoughts.

De Gea is the only premium goalkeeper worth getting in at the moment. I still think rotating 2 cheap goalkeepers will more often than not be the best option but De Gea is looking really good for the rest of the season

      Minutes per point:
      Pope 16.1
      DDG 15.9

      Pope is better value.

DDG is a rank killer, though.

Cover him with Jones. Think DDG will return to his 6 pointers when Pogba is back. Pogba is the link between defence and attack and without him United are giving up a lot of possession in dangerous areas which is leading to shots against DDG. Also there are more goals with Pogba in the team so chances of DDG baps will be lower.

Just sold Gross to facilitate Pope to DDG after the next GW

I would like to play all 5. Let's hope Richarlison does not make it for your sake. If not, will be Christensen from the lot.
