Tuesday evening treats us to four more fixtures, as Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham prepare for their first matches of double Gameweek 22.

The big news is that Harry Kane starts on the bench at the Liberty Stadium.

Having headed into Monday’s deadline as a doubt, the Spurs striker has been handed the Fantasy Premier League captaincy by a relatively low 24.2% of managers. However, over 121,000 also played their Triple Captain chip on Kane after he produced back-to-back hat-tricks in his previous two Gameweek appearances. They will now hope that he gets used from the bench tonight and that he can deliver big against West Ham in 48-hours time.

Son Heung-min, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli are also among the top 13 armband picks and all start in Wales, with Fernando Llorente leading the attack against his former club. Indeed, Son was the top transfer target for Gameweek 22, acquired by 498,000+ new owners on the back of four goals and as many assists in six starts.

Despite a run of five strikes in as many matches, just 17,000 have placed their faith in West Ham’s form player, Marko Arnautovic.

Nonetheless, that output hasn’t gone unnoticed – he was brought in by over 368,000 for a Gameweek that sees him entertain West Brom at the London Stadium before making his way to Wembley later in the week. Interestingly, however, he looks to have dropped back to a support role behind the lone striker Andy Carroll.

Elsewhere, John Stones, David Silva, Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling all return to the Man City XI for a plum home clash against Watford.

Aguero’s tally of 20 points in a 6-0 win over the Hornets back in Gameweek 5 remains the highest individual haul of the season. With Gabriel Jesus sidelined for a month at the very minimum, he now has the opportunity to audition for our three-man frontlines ahead of visits from both Newcastle and West Brom before the end of January.

Sterling, meanwhile, has bagged double-digit hauls in each of his last three starts to move into second place in the FPL player standings behind Mohamed Salah.

Kevin De Bruyne also starts for the hosts as he recovers from the Jason Puncheon challenge that forced him off at Selhurst Park on Sunday.

Southampton and Crystal Palace square up at St Mary’s in the other Tuesday fixture.

With a goal or assist in four of the last six outings, the Eagles’ Wilfried Zaha is the form player in this one. Yet the home side will be buoyed by Saturday’s goalless draw at Old Trafford which helped them to a first clean sheet since Gameweek 9.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

That lad is the no.1 ranked (part time) manager in Wales 😆

Even the second place manager in that Welsh league has only made 15 transfers very conservative in the transfer market also.

Last year I was 2k after 3 weeks fell to 150k and spent the season bouncing between 50k and 100k finished about 20k

Yeah watching it live I knew it wouldn't be a Kane assist because I remember a few lukaku goals where he would shoot get saved then score and no assist for whoever made the initial pass

      2. TallestJohn
        • 8 Years
        7 years, 11 months ago

Not surprised Kane didn't get the assist, even captaining him I'm happy to accept no assist as it's consistent with the rules.

KDB didn't make much sense though. Shots saved usually go down as an assist but it was clearly a pass and the keeper's touch altered its destination so shouldn't be an assist. Unless the rules are different with keepers but I've not seen anything suggesting that?

I have not watched a lot of Spurs but saw most of the game today.
I am over the Kane C

But I also got Eriksen and Son in and they are now a problem.

    Lamela stole Eriks corners
    And Son was woeful
What ye think of holding them even short term?

Eriksen is class, but I dropped him previously for a reason, plays too deep for the money, there are definitely better fantasy pics for cheaper. Now I have him and Son. I'm dropping both in a coupld weeks probably for Lingard and another cheapie to get Kun in for DCL I think. If Cout goes Lallana could become an option, Silva's a good pick soon as he's back, and Mahrez is looking great. Lots of options in the middle.

Yeah plan was Erik to Silva as I only have Sterling and Otamendi right now.
You mentioned Kun but I might consider KDB over Silva or Kun.

I think Silva is a touch better value than KDB, though if you have the money to spend, go with Kevin. Kun just cause while Jesus is out he could be the highest scoring player in the league.

Got Eriksen in for the DGW, I might look at downgrading him ahead of GW24 to fund Firmino to Aguero.

Lamela won't play every game and Eriksen still has a big share of set pieces so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

Thanks, not really keen on Burnley's fixtures tbh plus need at least a bit of attacking threat, especially in a season like this where clean sheets are so sparse. Any thoughts between those two? Shaw nailed for the Stoke game at least but agree on Fuchs, I like Chilwell's chances.

Is it possible for a so called dead team to go all the way some season?

Like every season we see these guys mid to late season and they are right up there it terms of overall rank but eventually get swallowed up by the pack on the run in.

I know the DGWs and blanks kill off a lot off these guys but the way these teams can surf luck sometimes is truly amazing.

I wonder what rank was the highest place dead team in fpl history?

It's definitely possible most years if you get it perfect, or close to perfect. But nobody has won it with a dead time.

It used to be possible to construct theoretical dead teams with hindsight that would have won, but the odds against anyone selecting those teams at the start of the season would have been enormous.

Since the introduction of the additional chips it has become far more difficult - last season it was impossible.

Do you sit in despair when you get a red arrow? Like you can't stop thinking about the wrong move or the last minute captain change which turned out to be a bad one , benching the wrong player and so on. That red arrow makes me invest more time and think about more permutations and combinations when it should be the other way around. Every week I say to myself that I won't let it affect, but I always fail

Not talking about the current gw but in general.

      Not really.

Do not make last minute decisions or captain changes unless absolutely necessary and when you have made a thought decision stick by it.

Do not dwell on the permutations of the past but think about the permutations of the future.

I’m an overthinker so most of my thoughts center around what’s next. This despite my many “woe is me” comments.

That said, I’m still disappointed in my FH way back in gw9. Maybe the dumbest thing I’ve done in my FPL experiences. The fact I’m top of my ML is helping move forward.

    Some opinions please:

    Pickford/Elliott
    Alonso/Jones/Vertonghen/Maguire/(4.0)
    Sterling/Eriksen/Coutinho/Lanzini/Carroll
    Kane/Firmino/Quaner

    0.6 ITB 1FT

Got Vertonghen and Lanzini for the DGW. Lanzini has good fixtures - same for Vert for the next 2.

With the doubts of Cout was thinking of doing Cout -> Mane then Maguire to Jones

Lots of better options than Choupo-Moting, and not keen on the Burnely triple up, tbh Pope is enough but max 1 defender, save some money there (especially as you will never be benching the other 3). Choupo to Ox could be a shout if and when the Coutinho move goes through, or Richarlison/Wilshere/Willian/Bolasie

No player in my squad with a flag atm, nice change that!
I might end up saving FT if all goes well and gamble on triple Spurs attack at home to EVE!
(Caveat: I would still have Sane as my only City attacker & Chicharito on my bench))

Sold him as I bought him late and only lost 0.2. Not in a huge rush to get him back for City, although I might do yet!

It's weird, but also a fact that I drank more red vine than water since December 31st.

Wine is 85% water, beer is 92% water.
