We turn to our usual pre-Gameweek members’ article next, assessing the key captaincy candidates for the upcoming round of fixtures.

To get underway, we check out the form of the leading players in our Captain Poll, then analyse the Opta data and Rate My Team ratings before considering a differential or two for Gameweek 31’s four-match slate.

The Captain Poll

As the only top-eight team in action, the focus is firmly on Liverpool, who host a Watford outfit with one clean sheet and two goals in their last eight road trips.

It’s no surprise, then, to see Mohamed Salah, the top-scoring player in Fantasy Premier League, dominate our Captain Poll with a massive 70% of the votes cast.

The Egyptian has supplied eight of his 13 double-digit returns at Anfield, averaging 8.87 points per match at home this season.

A relentless source of consistency, Salah has started 14 times in front of his own fans, returning a goal or assist on 12 of those occasions.

Along with Salah, both Roberto Firmino (6%) and Sadio Mane (4%) found the net against the Hornets back in Gameweek 1.

The top transfer target for Gameweek 31, Firmino’s 12 points at Vicarage Road was more than any team-mate.

He has served up seven sets of double-digits this term, compared with Mane’s two.

Yet the latter is arguably in better form for this one, with five goals and an assist in his last five matches across all competitions.

No other player has earned more than 1% backing, underlining our collective show of faith in Jurgen Klopp’s front three.

Stoke’s Xherdan Shaqiri could be one of the strongest candidates for those seeking out a differential.

Since the arrival of Paul Lambert, the playmaker has been involved in 80% of Stoke City’s goals, thanks to three strikes and an assist, and has averaged 5.9 points per appearance.

However, with reports breaking this evening that he is a doubt to face Everton due to a calf complaint, it’s wise to steer clear with the armband.

Meanwhile, Cenk Tosun makes his way to the bet365 as the Toffees’ form player on the back of successive goals against Burnley and Brighton.

Bournemouth’s home match against a West Brom defence that’s managed one clean sheet in their last 14 away fixtures bodes well for Junior Stanislas.

Since returning from injury in Gameweek 24, he’s supplied three goals and two assists in seven appearances, finding the net against the likes of Chelsea and Spurs in that run.

West Brom’s Salomon Rondon looks the likeliest source of points for Alan Pardew’s side.

The Venezuelan has netted three times in six across all competitions and is up against a defence without a shut-out in 17 attempts.

Two goals and a pair of assists in the last four Gameweeks makes Steve Mounie Huddersfield’s form player for the head-to-head with Crystal Palace at the John Smith’s Stadium.

The Frenchman bagged 12 points against the Eagles in a 3-0 win at Selhurst Park back in Gameweek 1.

For the visitors, Christian Benteke has supplied a goal or assist in seven of the last nine Gameweeks, while the fit-again Wilfried Zaha will be pushing for a starting role after emerging from the bench to supply an assist against Chelsea last time out.

Currently Top of a Money League and need assistance

Need a striker and a defender that will also be good for GW32 as I'm not going to WC until GW33

    Currently thinking:

    Kane ----to----- Mouine
    Fernández or Hünemeier -----to----- Aké

    Is this the best option?

    Thanks

I would rather go with a HUDS defender and BOU striker.

Clean sheets this season: Bou 5, Huds, 8
Total goals: Bou 35, Huds 25

How many players do you have? opinions seem split on here. I think if you have 7, you could even save the FT. So many teams for this GW do not have great fixtures coming up, yet people taking hits to bring in average players this week and then possible a hit next week.

            De Gea & Elliot

Hünemeier (3.9) Fernandez (4.4) VVD Davies Alonso

            Shaqiri** Salah** Walcott** Mkhitaryan Sterling

            Wilson** Firmino** Kane

2FT with 0.0 ITB, currently 5 players for GW31 and will WC in GW32

              so 6 with VVD?

Your not going to lose your money league this GW, (are you playing for the month or overall)?

You could Mariappa for Hun. This will give you an extra player, who do have some decent pictures coming up.

That will leave you 2 Ft for next week, give you the option to bring in Aubam and Monreal, or Maguire etc.

If your playing for overall this would be my advice.

Yep 6 with VVD, interesting suggestion.

I am going to WC in GW32, so I'm really just looking for a player for the next 2 Gameweeks.

Ake and Mouine really stand out to me. Never thought about saving the transfer though. Thats making me think!! As next week I could then get in Lukaku and Aubameyang without taking a -4 hit

Ake and Mounie over 2 weeks or Lukaku and Aub over 1.... id go the latter. Might mean also that you don't need to force a WC.

Bringing in robertson, but not sure to bring in for Bavies or Otamendi. Babies is obvious rotation risk with Rose, but Ot, slightly less of a risk but has champs league between GW 33/3 and if they've won the league by then, will he play that much?

Yeah I know he has been very disappointing for me also. Missed out on attacking returns too.

I suppose if they can’t keep a clean sheet vs Stoke or Bournemouth them there isn’t much hope.

    WC draft for gw 32:
    De Gea
    Monreal / VVD / Maguire
    Salah / Mahrez / Mkhitaryan / Willian / Son
    Lukaku / Aubameyang

    Maenpaa / Dummett / Lowton / Quaner

Alternatively I can go Hazard + Firmino in stead of Willian / Lukaku or Aubameyang.

    All input is appreciated!

Confirmation that this sounds relatively sensible?

I can get this team by bringing in Baines, Walcott, Stanislas and Mounie for -8:

    Pickford
    Van Dijk, Baines*,
    Salah (c), Shaqiri, Walcott*, Stanislas*
    Firmino, Wilson, Mounie*

  8. Mayo for Sam

Any of these worth a -4

    A Kun > King
    B Kenny > Baines/Coleman
    C DDG > Butland

Currently on 9 for this GW

        Thanks

Tough choice between Baines and butland but feel both is too much

Starting on zero alone is a massive boost.

Team is on -8 so far..

    VVD Baines
    Stanislas Shaq* Salah
    Firmino Wilson Mounie

    A) 8 players is enough, hope Shaq is ok
    B) Get Zaha in for Shaq
    D) Get Butland
    E) play the Free Hit and deal with 35 later

I'm in a similar position to you, so FH seems like the way to go.

    Best Huddersfield mid?

I’m looking at Arnautovic to Mooy

I'd go with Mooy if I was getting one. I prefer Mounie though from the Huddersfield attack, personally.

Yeah I want him but I already have Firmino and Rondon so it would mean getting rid of Vardy who I’m not decided on having when WCing.

Pritchard, but you might not get 90' out of him

Mooy is good and who I would get. Do you already have Stanislas

Planning on a -4 for Mooy and Stanislas with KDB and Arnie making way.

    For WC
1)Vardy and a premium defence of Valencia Vertonghen (or Maguire) Azpi
    2) Lukaku and cheapie defence with Vertonghen/Maguire the only premium

    Mounie or King?

Was set on King but now scared he won’t start and may get another cameo.

Mounie might get a goal off the woodwork. Good choice I think

Mounie looks like a good shout even if King is fit. Especially if you have Stan and/or Wilson.

Need a keeper. Lossl or Butland?

Stoke are more likely to get a cleanie I think but I have Walcott.

Play the odds, play the keeper most likely to score points in your view. And it sounds like your view is Butland. Everyone's view is Butland. Buy Butland

Butland...a lot of save points and Everton are terrible away from home.
