Our series of members’ Monitor articles on Wildcard targets continues this evening with a look at Manchester United’s number one, David De Gea.

As has been the case for almost the entirety of the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) season, the Spaniard sits on top of the positional rankings and is the most owned goalkeeper overall.

However, despite that, De Gea has rarely featured at the summit of our Watchlist rankings until this point, with his two double Gameweeks and kind schedule now a major factor.

De Gea has accumulated 144 FPL points, six points clear of his nearest challenger (Manchester City’s Ederson), while an average of 4.8 points per match (ppm) is bettered only by Burnley’s Nick Pope (4.9ppm).

Amazingly, De Gea is now just five points short of Tom Heaton’s league-leading 149-point haul recorded last season – despite the United keeper still having eight matches left to play.

More impressively, should he maintain his current per-game averages, De Gea even looks poised to break Joe Hart’s single-season record of 166 points recorded in 2011/12 – when the City keeper combined 17 shutouts with 99 saves.

On the basis of these numbers, it would seem impossible to argue that anybody but De Gea belongs between the sticks of in our squads over the final eight Gameweeks.

Digging deeper into the keeper’s numbers, however, highlights a surprising decline in output.

Not much love being given to Rudiger at 5.8 - more of a goal threat than Vert/Bailly, and with Christensen's health problems he could be a solid option

    Bench 2 out of:

    a) Lowton (wba)
    b) Morgan (bha)
    c) Kenedy (HUD)
    d) Barnes (wba)

So much depends on Harry Kane.

I'll have to transfer him in for 34, meaning my other transfer will be a player with a DGW, which would limit the SGWers I can get in on WC.

    Dilemma.

Would you really have to transfer him in? MCI, bri when returning from injury doesn't scream captaincy to me. Pretty sure if he gets fit I'll be going without until GW36 at the earliest.

With a cup semi-final on the weekend there's a decent chance he wouldn't play both anyway

Also, I wouldn't go near Alonso on a WC, he's been knackered for ages and we have an FA cup semi coming up, I'd expect Emerson to start at least one game in the doubles

I think you have a point. If Chelsea lose on Sunday then they may just give up on top 4 and prioritise winning the FA Cup to salvage their season.

He did, and played a grand total of 0 minutes last week. He may play later, he may not. Either way, he hasn't played a game for 10 days.

He's basically done with Spain (training) what he would have done at Chelsea

Think I can finally put pen to rest...
    DDG (Ryan)
    Tarkowski, Lowton, Morgan (Christensen, Vertonghen)
    Son, Mahrez, Willian, Salah (Matic)
    Auba(C), Lukaku(VC), Barnes

    BB34, FH 35, TC37, £1.1 itb

    Roll transfers 32 and 33
34 Auba and Vertonghen to Vardy and Alonso
37 Lukaku to Kane maybe will see nearer the time...

I’d rather have Lewis Cook over Matic and pocket the change. Unlikely there will be more than 2 points between them.

Also it seems a lot of effort benching Vert, playing him once and then selling. Just get Alonso in now IMO and save the effort.

Surely GW34 will be the only time you play Matic until the end of the season (if not I’d be rethinking anyway) so you may as well spend as little as possible on that 5th mid spot.

Its not just a matter if how much better BB37 is - it is that:

          - DGW players are largely incompatible with 35.
          - DGW fodder is largely incompatible with 37.

So for the sake of 15-20 points you are effectively reducing your points potential elsewhere.

Sanchez more interesting than Lukaku at 3% ownership.

Perhaps topped by selling Aguero and Niasse for -4 the day before they scored 5 goals and 1 assist between them.

Who do you think will make it into next week's wildcard template that isn't in this week's template?

Suspect UTD interest will cool, with City away.
Chelsea and Spurs assets likely more appealing.
Varez will no doubt hold down their spots.
Pace gathering on BHA assets..with teasing HUD fixture.

    Comment my Wilcard team

    De Gea - Ryan

    Mustafi - Smalling - Monreal - Lowton - Morgan

    Hazard - Salah - Son - Mahrez - Gudmundsson

    Vardy Barnes Aubameyang

1,1 ITB --> Aubameyang to Lukaku in GW 34
Also considering to go for Mhikitarian in GW32 and GW33 and then transfer to Son?

Is it better to have ryan in goal and barnes as attacker?

    RMWCT

    DDG Ryan
    Christensen Smalling Lowton Chilwell Tarkowski
    Salah Mkhi Stanislas Mahrez Dier
    Vardy Aubameyang Firmino

    0.2 ITB

    Plan: BB34 FH35 TC37(Kane)
Will do Mkhi and Auba to Willian/Gross and Lukaku

    WC queries guys....

Firmino - should I keep him, play him for one week, then transfer to Vardy for 33? Worried about rotation with CL back. One caveat is I own Mahrez already which is making me wary of bringing in immediately.

Wait until 34 for Lukaku? I could double up with Aubamayeng now but that would mean downgrading Alonso for Christensen & the City game will be a blank.

Which is better on a wildcard, BB in 34?

    A) Firmino, Cook, Lowton (double up with Tarkowski)

    B) Barnes, Gross, Vertonghen (and Tarkowski)

Thanks DACRA - usually do very well with chips just totally confused with the way game weeks are falling. Seems like a sound strategy will wildcard next week lot of price increases gone so will just wait for the extra info team value is very good so happy to wait.

Which pair would you have from now until GW36 out of

    KDB and Barnes

    or

    Gudmundson and Aubameyang

    Any ideas would be welcomed

    How's this plan?

    DDG / Ryan
    Alonso - Smalling - Monreal - Lowton - Morgan
    Salah - Son - Willian - Mahrez - Gross
    Barnes - Vardy - Lukaku

    0.9 itb

For 34, 2x ft for Smalling to Vertonghen and Monreal to Christensen. Depending on Smalling prospects and Christensen injury.

    35 FH

For 37, 2x ft for likely Gross to cheapy and make defence Alonso - Vertonghen - Valencia - Morgan (Lowton)

You not planning to get Kane at any point?

      36 Watford (H)
      37 W.Brom (a) Newcastle (H)
      38 Leicester (H)

I think come then he's the most must have player

    prmwct
    DDG
    Bailly vert Robertson
    Salah Mahrez Son Willian
    Auba Lukaku Barnes

    Ryan Millo Lowton Morgan

    No Alonso too risky?
