On a FH and currently have Mahrez.

Am I better off going for Alli or Son? (already have Kane, Eriksen and no Vardy).

You'd go with zero Leicester coverage and triple spurs, though?

Had it been for a second spurs and that second had been eriksen or kane then maybe. Otherwise not for me.

Different philosophies I guess. I like to have coverage across teams in case a team is just nullified in a game or gets, say, an early sending off. But I'm sure both can work.

Aye I see the benefits of both. There's no right or wrong way of looking at it. In fact your way of looking at it makes even more sense when it's an isolated one off GW, My way works more for the long term as even when they blank in one week it will balance out over many.

You already have the best Spurs midfielder.

So without a Vardy, keep Mahrez for sure! It's high time to see some returns from Riyad.

So excited for the game tonight. Really have faith in this City team to put up a great performance, hopefully it'll be enough. An away goal could kill the game and I'm sure Liverpool will go for it.

Hoping to see this as the lineup today, but doubt it would happen:
    ----------------------Ederson------------------------
    Walker-Otamendi-Kompany-Fernandinho
    --Bernardo---De-Bruyne--Silva------Sane---
    ---------------Aguero----Jesus--------------------

      1. ★Kuntheman★
        • 10 Years

Realistically, something like a 3-1 City. I think we win, the question is whether or not we win by enough.

        1. Arctic monkeys
          • 12 Years
          8 years, 3 months ago

I think City are more than capable of scoring 3 goals. The speed of the Liverpool front three while city are looking for goals is the issue.

Agreed. I have faith in the offense doing their bit, defense has to come up big today. Sloppy mistakes have undone us against Liverpool.

    2. Zilla

Aguero and Jesus together? They haven't played together for months, not the best match to experiment or roll a dice. Also, don't you think you're harsh on leaving Raheem out? He didn't score versus Liverpool before and he missed lots of chances during the derby I get that but City with him is definitely better.

      1. ★Kuntheman★
        • 10 Years
        8 years, 3 months ago

I love Raheem but he has a history of being woeful against Liverpool, not only that but he provides incentive and motivation to Liverpool and their fans. There's no doubt he's important to our team but he adds an edge to the other team. I also think Bernardo would fare better against Robertson, and we saw this when he was subbed on against them in the 4-3 loss. Sterling was shut down, he's a very predictable attacker.

Aguero and Jesus together is a must today. We saw how it worked in the 5-0 game. It gives the CBs a question on whether to help the wingbacks against Sane and Sterling/Bernardo or to mark Jesus and Aguero. That's a much easier decision if one man can help out the wing and the other can just mark one striker.

i think the 5-0 was a bit of a write off, if any team is easy to beat with 10 men, its a super aggressive high press liverpool without virgil van dijk....as a pool fan id be chuffed if sterling was on the bench, he's so dynamic, and while he misses lots of chances, it just has to be his night tonight for us to go out of europe

          1. ★Kuntheman★
            • 10 Years
            8 years, 3 months ago

I wouldn't say the 5-0 was a write off, but I do agree that it stunted Liverpool's press...but only their press on our defense. Jesus and Aguero stretched the CBs in that game, ate them alive and gave space for Sane (and Mendy, RIP) especially. In a game where we need 3 goals minimum, I can't look past that pairing personally. Sterling honestly fits our system much better than Bernardo but I think there's too many psychological factors both for him and for Liverpool, and there is a history that can't be ignored.

Not to say I'd complain if Sterling starts...I just don't know if that is a good move in terms of momentum and psychological tactics in this game

Purpose of Fernandinho at LB is for him to tuck in when necessary and have the team revert to 3-4-1-2 on the attack. At the end of the day, any player we put there is going to have a torrid time, we might as well put in someone who can benefit the system.

Don't underestimate Fernandinho either...the man is a one-man defense at times.

So to get Kane in this week I have to do:

    Firmino + Willian -> Kane + 5m mid (Cook/Cork/Ibe)

An yeah, I have 1 FT. Worth the -4 hit?
I'm thinking yes. Anyone care to talk me out of it?

      Better post your whole squad.

If go Firm + Willian, you can take a look at Mili who's 5.1M (don't know whether you have exactly 5.0M).

        Mustafi Smalling Lowton (Mariappa Morgan)
        Salah Mahrez Son Willian Gross
        Firmino Auba (Barnes)

With 4 players each playing twice:

20 points or so - realistic and 'good'.

15-20: underwhelming but just about acceptable.

Anything below 15 will be very disappointing.

25 or above would be amazing.

In terms of overall score, in the last two years my teams scored 170ish and 180ish on the weeks I bench boosted, but that was more because of nailing the captain choice (Aguero two years ago and Sanchez last year both got close to 30 points).

    6. TallestJohn
      • 9 Years
      8 years, 3 months ago

I'd say about 15 is the bare minimum you'd want to be able to call it successful. That said, my highest bench score this season has only been 16 but on every occasion I should've started at least one of those players. The main thing is how all 15 of your squad score.

    UCL fantasy:

Double up on Real (v Juventus) or Barca (v Roma away) defence?

    Have Varane and Umtiti.
Ramos is suspended for 1 game, so would you rather get Marcelo or Alba/Pique?
Real def ownership is around 100%, Barca around 140%.

    1. Pierce34
      • 10 Years

Similar dilemma for me, I'm doubling up on Real just because it's a little bit more budget-friendly.

Speaking of budget, do you have any ideas for sub-6m mids? I can't see anyone other than Casemiro, and he's not that inspiring a choice.

      1. Lyonnais

        thx!

I got Casemiro last week as there's no one below him doing anything.

The whole midfield is poor in general because almost every winger is down as a forward in the game...
We are left with Kroos, Fernandinho, Vidal, Busquets etc...

Little snippet for the case for Sanchez. Bournemouth have conceded the most chances in the league on their right flank, West Brom are third. 15 chances conceded on the left and 28 on the right for Bournemouth, 19 on the left and 26 on the right for West Brom. So it looks good for Sanchez getting opportunties. Both teams have also conceded the most goals in the last six games with 12.

I have James but probably would go Isco now.
James did disappoint me in the last few gameweeks.
Also can't predict which Bayern mid gets points. It's another one every week.
