Double Gameweek fever is back again as the community considers the best options for the bumper set of matches ahead, starting with tonight’s clash between Manchester United and Brighton on the south coast..

Manchester City stars, the fear factor around Harry Kane and unlikely predictions are discussed by our Hot Topic posters.

Pep Guardiola’s troops also feature in our Members table round-up,  as well as among our community articles, which as usual focus on Fantasy games both home and abroad.

We wrap things up with a look at the standings in our community leagues, where City’s heroics last time out had a dramatic effect on the race for the top placings.

The Community Articles.

After a Gameweek with few goals, Niemi’s latest Fantasy Eliteserien preview is full of hope for attacking returns in the next instalment of this Norwegian top-flight game.

Meanwhile, The Indian Premier League’s current key players are assessed by Speedyboyz in his look at the mid-season standings in the high-profile cricket tournament.

Back to domestic matters, Hutch_James dropped by to let us know the crowd’s take on the Double Gameweek fixtures and Top Marx was on hand with the latest on the top five in the Career Hall of Fame.

Finally, congratulations to Ludo, who has been named writer of the month for April following a community vote. A £20 Amazon voucher is on his way to him.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

The community is keen to tap into the form and fixture collision awaiting Manchester City in Gameweek 37.

Mei You Shagua puts forward the case for captaining one of Pep Guardiola’s troops for their enticing pair of home encounters with Huddersfield and Brighton.

Doosra’s latest fixture calculations, as delivered by G-Whizz, also put forward a compelling argument to trust the likes of Gabriel Jesus with the armband.

Many of those responding to our rough with the smooth round -up of your Gameweek 36 scores also advocate backing City stars, who routed West Ham 4-1 at the London Stadium on Sunday to take their goal tally over the last two matches to nine.

Harry Kane is another popular choice. The Spurs striker is currently leading our captain poll and is mentioned by many when we canvassed views this morning on the best armband option.

But Red Arrows’ discussion earlier this week considers whether fear rather than form may be leading some Fantasy managers to back the Spurs talisman.

With just one fixture, away to Chelsea, Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is low down on our captain poll and is the most sold player so far this week. According to our discussion on ‘Salexit’, opinion is divided as to whether handing the Egyptian his P45 will bring rewards or misery.

The current Golden Boot race leader also came under discussion in our lessons learned from Gameweek 36 Hot Topic, in particular how well Stoke City managed to keep him to zero shots on target in their goalless draw with the Reds on Saturday.

Among Kane and Salah’s biggest supporters is Bharat Dhody, who has captained one of this high-scoring pair 22 times this season, which has helped him take top spot in FPL’s overall rankings for 18 of the last 19 Gameweeks.

Bharat joined the Scoutcast team this week to discuss his incredible season, and his appearance prompted us to ask the community how they would react if they were top of the world.

With just a five point-gap at the summit over second-placed Rizwan Chaudhry, Bharat will be relying heavily on his Bench Boost chip to stay top this week.

However, the community has mixed feelings about the value of FPL’s chips, with Diva believing that saving them for the final few Gameweeks brings little advantage over those who deployed them earlier. Meanwhile, Phaze 1 posted this Hot Topic on how chips are just one aspect of FPL, a game where strong research and planning is often well rewarded.

Finally, Jarvish asked the community to consult their crystal balls for Double Gameweek 37, with the most unlikely prediction winning “nothing, but satisfaction and looks of awe –the greatest prize of all”.

To view all our discussions please visit our Hot Topics page.

The Members Tables

The Etihad performances of Manchester City players come under the gaze of FPL Virgin in his latest table. There’s a further mention for one of Pep Guardiola’s troops in my latest goals imminent table.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Tournaments

World number one Bharat has joined the FFScout main league, which means it now mirrors the overall rankings, with Rizwan in second and FFScout Members league leader Paul Gee in third.

Anders Lium has regained the lead from Richard Clarke at the top of Red Lightning’s Top 10K Any Season league, while Ben Watson has taken over from Christopher Lay at the summit of his Doubles, Blanks and Chips league. But it’s business as usual in Red Lightning’s January to May league, which Shirin Nizar continues to dominate.

Matzi11a now leads the charge to overtake long-term FFScout moderators and contributors league leader Jack Wain, while QPR Utd remains top of his own Frequent Summer Posters league, with Zoumas Bloomers in hot pursuit.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round-Ups, please email us a summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spreadsheet or head-to-head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.
