Mohamed Salah will once again be the key Fantasy Premier League asset to own among Liverpool’s ranks this season.

The Egyptian may have had a huge price hike to £13.0m for 2018/19 but his underlying attacking numbers suggest he deserves to be valued higher than any of his colleagues.

However, there are plenty of cheaper options to consider for our FPL squads too as Jurgen Klopp’s men have a particularly appealing start to the new season.

Fantasy Football Scout members can view the important data in the Members’ Area and also read our full analysis of it below to help them pick the best possible FPL team this season.

Is Chalobah nailed? Think he's the best 4.5 option if he is but wouldn't be worth risking it if he isn't

If he is, I'll go for him instead of Cairney. He started off great last season before his injury.

currently he has just played first game in the U19 championship-will competing in this competition help or hinder his watford nailability?
I'd suggest in the short term it might question it

How well do newly promoted teams usually do in their first few games of the season?

From my dodgy memory they start off relatively well, then run out of steam half way through.

usually get off to a good start if they have easy fixtures, then go in a lull of draws, and then the defeats start rolling in

According to Triggerlips, they difficult to play against for the first 6 weeks or so. The general assumption is that they are going to be on the back foot, adjusting to a new league, though it depends on the team. Wolves, for example, are expected to be the tightest, and most difficult opponent at both ends of the pitch (it seems), but some put that down to the bookies manipulating odds to make money.

Basically, you can't really blanket promoted teams with a generalisation, so you should be wary of taking them for granted as easy opponents or of putting too much faith in the Championship's highest performers last year.

Not really helpful, but not much more I can say 🙂

Usually a few games that surprise a bit, could see Cardiff doing Bournemouth, for example, then maybe beating Newcastle & Hud, then the pause, then the slide.

Cardiff look very similar to Brighton last season. I expect them to be goal shy at the start. Fulham and Wolves winning their opening games wouldn't surprise me given their home advantage and who their opponents are

Very similar! Nice team but I'm not sure if Eriksen will start the first few games due to the World Cup. You might wanna keep an eye out for that. Not entirely sure about that Palace double up either.

Wan B is bench fodder so it’s only really Sakho, if they don’t start well he’ll become an Arsenal or maybe cheap manu def (if shaw or Lindelof are playing).

Yeah, lot of spurs played further so he may be needed, may move to Sané if not looking like starting.

Just a little punt to start the season 😉

19G/7A for Bristol City in the Championship and took penalties(might take them off Ralls), likely to play just off Zohore and has (bou, NEW, hud) so not the strongest starting opponents whilst we asses the rest of the cheap striking options.

Are you confident of Kane starting GW1 or just budgeting for getting him back? I like it though, I've gone very similar and also punting on the two 4m def starting to free up cash to fund it.

Decent. You could downgrade Ramsey to Mkhi to upgrade Cairney to Deulofeu? Deu and Highes seem the best value in that price range to me. You can use your strong bench to cover their fixtures in 4, 5 and 7.

Mostly due to the association people make between DMs/CMs and casual players. There are more attacking players at that price who can get you more points. Also because Salah is essential on these pages, and it can be hard to get feedback unless you have him in your team.

I would personally agree with Nico about Jorghino and Keita. There seem to belots of good value players out there, and these two aren't near the top of that list 🙂

The problem with being without Salah is captaincy points. I tried to manage without him last autumn and failed. No fear factor, I just believe he is worth the money and if not, then easy to ditch. Has anyone calculated the numbers seriously?

Yeah...finally back home off my hols and some internet. Time to make a team.

    But first...@Mark/mods...

We always get a rotation article (or several) about rotating cheap defenders for months ahead....whilst actually the big points are often found by rotating captains. Any chance of an article or two on where the big points are?

Aye...Budget constraints mean we are mainly forced to have 2/3 budget defenders and only 2/3 captain choices to begin with. The first gets plenty of words whilst the latter is largely ignored. I'd much sooner get a lot of words and planning on the latter.

Just captain Salah most of the time. Points don't get any bigger than that if he can repeat last season's form (and why shouldn't he?). Your squad will almost certainly also contain one or two other big hitters such as Auba and Kun who can fill in when required. Simples!

It might be interesting to consider alternatives though in case he misses part of the season through injury or unexpectedly loses form.
