Fantasy Football Scout are pleased to announce the very first episode of Meet the Manager, where we interview Fantasy managers with a superb track record over their career.

Over the season we’ll find out from them what it takes to get a top finish in the game, explore their key strategies for success and also gain some valuable tips on tackling the current campaign.

To kick off the series I was joined earlier today by Nick, who is better known within the Fantasy Football Scout community as Triggerlips.

Over his 11-year career, he has finished in the top 1,000 an impressive four times, including 2012/13’s finish of 35th. Indeed across his last nine campaigns, he has only finished outside the top 50,000 twice.

Paying close attention to team structure and balanced distribution of funds is among the nuggets of advice that New Zealand-based Nick serves up.

He also reveals the importance of accumulating wealth early on and making sure the vast array of Fantasy advice on social media is treated with caution.

And while he is taking a patient approach with Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this season he is “not liking the look of (Mohamed) Salah one little bit”.

The chat with Nick is available to view on YouTube here and in the embedded video below:

Who do you see scoring more in the next 10 or so games?

    Richarlison
    Maddison

Maddison has some very nice fixtures especially with Vardy back

      Richarlison.

If the captaincy poll was reset now, who do you think would win? I think it would be:

    Aguero
    Hazard
    Salah
    Mane

Personally disn't plan to captain or vice captain Kun, but changed my mind after the City match, despite City playing below par. Kun captain looking most likely for me now.

I think Pep is a genius playing Bernado with David so he can get real life pitch time with his protege. (learning on the job)
I retract my statements from early on in the season when comparing him to a glorified Navas. I was wrong.

Hope he doesn't ease David out too much as he still oozes class and he's a season keeper for me.

Yer, I know what you mean. I was alluding to the fact I thought David was going to get a lot less pitch time this season and Bernardo was going to be used more in his place.

KDB being out has complicated things but I do feel Pep is a fine manager of men regardless of the financial aspect.

Bernardo Silva is the opposite to Navas; he doesn't have any pace!

I can see him becoming an excellent CAM in the next couple of years. Pep probably has concerns over his work rate to trust him in the middle until he needs to chase games.

He's the right man to replace Dilva...either him or buy Eriksen.

Man City really missed KdB tonight. There wasn't any dynamism or bravery from the middle. If Dilva's a touch off form then they struggle.

Wouldn't be surprised if they bring someone in to challenge Gundogan mainly.

I remember posting two years ago about that midfield and was shot down....but it remains true...

When Pep put his City team together it was David Silva that he pointed at as "that's the way I want you to play"...KDB may be the better player (ish) but it's Silva that sets the style and tempo...and yes...they need a brave and dynamic player next to him in KDB...and the better FPL pick....

Ah ok, yeah I was being a bit lazy with what I wanted to say, I guess. Maybe he's a bit "nice" to play in the middle? No doubting his ability on the ball, but Dilva has a bit more bite about him when not in possession.

    1. Twisted Saltergater

Did you buy Pedro at 6.8m?

I'd only do that move if it's with 2 x FT's, otherwise do it next week when Chelsea's nice fixture run ends somewhat.

      1. kawaiii
        • 15 Years
        7 years, 3 months ago

Yes, 6.8 but the real issue is having cover for Mendy.
If out then I would get WB off the bench.
Ricky is 6.6 and WB 4.1. Exact money. Both will rise soon
So -4 is a long term move

        1. Twisted Saltergater
          • 16 Years
          7 years, 3 months ago

I guess your 3.9m is Peltier? In that case, might be worth taking the hit and getting definite starters in.

I'd consider Maddison too. He's home to Leicester and plays in the number 10 role. Richarlison should also do well.

          1. kawaiii
            • 15 Years
            7 years, 3 months ago

Have Maddy already. Bennet is on the bench. But will be unable to get WB as long term cover for any FBs out.

Also just feel Ricky will be gold in a few weeks rather Tay Fraser.
The scoutcast also suggested that the Arsenal right side of defence looks very vulnerable.

Any thoughts on this WC draw? THanks in advance.

    Patricio, Fabianski
    Alonso, Robertson, Mendy, Wan-Bissaka, Holebas
    Mane, Hazard, DSilva, Moura, Fraser
    Vardy, Mitrovic, Wilson 0.3 ITB

    My ideas are:
    A. keep as is
    B. Lukaku/Milner/Laporte for Wilson/Mane/Mendy
    C. Aguero/Richarlison/Steve Cook for Mitrovic/Mane/Mendy
    D. Lukaku/Milner/Fernandez for Wilson/Mane/Holebas

You need Kun or lukaku up front and Moura is where I’d find the upgrade money, if that helps.

It is helpful, thanks. I already dropped Aguero when he picked up the injury, so I’ve lost value there if I pick him back up now. I was leaning towards Lukaku anyways. Thanks!

Hazard being rested tomorrow and not even travelling to Greece reminds me of something I was gonna post last night.

    2. Twisted Saltergater
      • 16 Years

Have been genuinely surprised how much pitch time Milner has had so far. I know he's the model professional and must be a real pain to play against as he never gives anything up as a lost cause, but thought Klopp might go with more technically capable players he has at his disposal.

Goes to show how important it is to strike the right balance, and I'm pleased for Milner.

        • 13 Years

He must occupy about zero management time for Klopp...none...just buy him and play him when you like because you always get the same thing week in and week out...Never changes.

        1. Twisted Saltergater
          • 16 Years
          7 years, 3 months ago

Because he isn't. I'm sure he'd be the first to admit that.

But what he lacks in technique / talent, he absolutely makes up for mentally. A fantastic team player.

          1. Dr. Ante Pavlovic
            • 8 Years
            7 years, 3 months ago

I would have to disagree with that. Imo he is not lacking in the technical area at all, he used to play more offensive roles and he would do great. And his asisst record, don't think a techinically bad player would ever match it.

            1. Twisted Saltergater
              • 16 Years

Beckham wasn't great technically, but he could deliver a cross. When I say Milner isn't great technically, I mean he doesn't have great feet. If he did, he'd be the complete player.

Made the mistake of doubling up Jesus w Aguero, time to get rid of GJ. Have enough to afford any striker bar Kane, thinking of narrowing it down between Vardy and Laca. Don’t want to spend 11 on Lukaku next to Aguero. Thoughts?

Are you watching the games? What's your judgment of Salah v Hazard this weekend and longer term?

Personally, I don't think there's any harm in losing Salah now. People seem to make this a much bigger thing than it needs to be, imo. It's not a divorce, you can bring him back in later.

If Salah was 11m and it was a choice between Salah and Hazard, then it would be Hazard every day at the minute. He's simply in much better form right now.

Some people are keeping Salah and adding Hazard. It should be possible with a bit of careful squad management.

Liverpool haven't truly clicked yet. Mané and Salah don't appear to be supporting each other so readily, so will Southampton concede 2 or 3? 2 probably, but I'm not sure it'll be more.

West Ham will be buoyed by beating Everton. Potentially, that could make Chelsea's job even easier if West Ham think they've turned a corner. They were still pretty bad against Everton.

I'd keep Hazard over anyone in my squad right now, and I like Mané against his former club dynamic. It might work out, it might not. Salah will explode at some point 🙂

but next week chelsea might struggle
as it is a derby match
chelsea never got it easy against westham away

        5.0 or 5.1 Def bench.

Your goal is to put as much money on the pitch every week. Assuming you make solid picks for your team that's how you score most points over the season.

          1) If you opt for Ederson he is set and forget, get a 4.0 and it saves you 500k
          2) Your 4th def could be 4.1 Bennett or 4.4 Doherty = saves a lot
          3) Doesn't make sense benching 6 mil fwd every week

With funds saved you can upgrade Wilson to Mitro, Moura to Dilva if you like. Or something else.

I don't play a weak bench.I had Bennett instead of Pereira but feel he will be a good choice to be honest. Always running a good strong 3rd striker and Fraser is hardly an expensive mid.

How to get Maddison in here for Neves? Have 0.3 itb. King and Mitro have nice fixtures, Tripp is nailed and has nice fixtures. Alonso and Mendy are essential, but I'll wait for Mendy news.

Was also thinking about switching Kepa to Ederson for free coz Kepa has Whu and Liverpool while Edeson has Cardiff and Brighton in next two games.

    What do you suggest?

    Kepa, Stekelenburg
    TAA, Alonso, Mendy, Trippier, WB
    Salah, Hazard, Fraser, Neves, Masuaku
    Mitrovic, Aguero, King

          Hazard - Mané - Maddison - Silva - Pedro

Budget wise, he's an amazing option, but compared with Maddison, Richarlison, I'd prefer those two. If Fraser played more centrally then I think his points would be more sustainable.
